AIG Getting $30 Billion More From The Government
2009-03-02 04:01:00
I guess the first bailout wasnt enough. Geesh!NEW YORK (Reuters) ? The U.S. government threw a new $30 billion lifeline to American International Group Inc on Sunday as the embattled insurer prepared to report the biggest quarterly loss in corporate history.AIG's board approved a new rescue package that also includes more lenient terms on a government investment in its preferred shares and a lower interest rate on a government credit line, two sources familiar with the matter said.Details will be announced on Monday when AIG is expected to report a fourth-quarter loss of about $60 billion -- some $460,000 per minute. This would be the third time the government has had to step up to save AIG, once the biggest insurer by market value whose global reach may have made it too big to fail.Allowing the collapse of AIG, which has struggled to sell assets, would have far-reaching consequences for the global financial system as the company guarantees about $300 billion of asset-backed securit...

Washington Post: Hits Obama On Anti-Israel Appointee For National Intellige
2009-03-01 23:34:00
Surprising coming from the Washington Post . I posted about Charles Freeman before here. Most of President Obama's "missteps" to date have been Washington peccadilloes of the "let's find something to complain about" sort. But Obama has made one major mistake that has attracted little public attention: his appointment of Charles Freeman as chairman of the National Intelligence Council. Freeman was attacked by pro-Israel activists, but the contretemps over Freeman's view of Israel misses the broader problem, which is that he's an ideological fanatic. That may sound like an odd description for a respectable bureaucrat and impeccable establishmentarian such as Freeman. What's more, he's not an ideologue of the sort who draws most of the attention. When most people think of foreign policy ideology, they mean neoconservatism, which dominated the Bush administration. Broadly speaking, neoconservatism is obsessed with the moral differences between democracies and non-democracies. At its...

Obamas New Budget Will Raise Your Cellphone Bill
2009-03-01 23:28:00
Simply put.. He is going to raise taxes on cellphone companies which of course in turn they will raise your monthly bill. There's no easy answer to erasing a staggering trillion-plus dollar deficit in a federal budget, but you've got to start somewhere -- and Obama's looking at the nation's wireless carriers as cash cows just waiting to be milked. The President's proposed budget for 2010 calls for an increase in spectrum license user fees from $50 million to $200 million, with further increases to $550 million over the course of the next decade, all of which would be on top of the billions carriers have already shelled out in spectrum auctions. A good way to bring in some extra cash? Yeah, probably, but considering that carriers will be more than happy to pass the increases on to consumers, let's just be straight: it's a tax.SOURCE

Iran: Reporter From US Arrested After Buying Wine
2009-03-01 23:24:00
FARGO, N.D. - A U.S. journalist has been arrested in Iran , and her father said Sunday she told him in a brief phone call she was detained after buying a bottle of wine.Roxana Saberi, 31, has not been heard from since her last call on Feb. 10, her father, Reza, told The Associated Press on Sunday."We haven't heard anything," he said. The family decided to go public, he said, "because we wanted to get some information."Officials in Iran have not publicly confirmed the arrest. A duty officer at the U.S. State Department said Sunday they were looking into an AP request for information on the case.Human rights groups have repeatedly criticized Iran for arresting journalists and suppressing freedom of speech. The government has arrested several Iranian-Americans in the past few years, citing alleged attempts to overthrow its Islamic regime. The most high-profile case came in 2007, when Iran arrested four Iranian-Americans, including the academic Haleh Esfandiari. The four were imprisoned...

US Military Officals: "Iran Has Enough Material To Build A Nuke"
2009-03-01 23:21:00
Great news isn't it?The top U.S. military official said Sunday he believes Iran has enough fissile material to build a nuclear weapon, but Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the Islamic Republic is a long way from having a bomb.Last week, the International Atomic Energy Agency revised its assessment of Iran's nuclear capabilitie, saying it was wrong in earlier reports about Iran's ability to enrich enough uranium to make anuclear weapon.Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said, "We think they do, quite frankly," when asked Sunday about Iran's capacity."Iran having a nuclear weapon I've believed for a long time is a very, very bad outcome for the region and for the world," Mullen said. But Gates said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that the Iranians are not close to getting a weapon at this time."They're not close to a stockpile, they're not close to a weapon at this point and so there is some time," he said when asked whether Tehran could be deterred from p...

Was CPAC An Epic Failure?
2009-03-01 23:08:00
I say yes because from what I have seen there was hardly a mention of the stealth jihad being waged in America. CPAC had virtually no Anti-jihad speakers. No Spencer. No Wilders. No Bostom. The best probably had to be John Bolton. Apparently I am not the only one to notice. Patrick Poole over at Pajamas Media took notice as well:The fact of the matter is that before the 2006 elections, just a little over two years ago, Republicans controlled the White House and both houses of Congress. It isn?t entirely clear that the GOP leadership is even aware that the situation has changed, let alone that they are personally responsible for it.It is interesting that Ronald Reagan?s name was constantly being invoked by CPAC speakers. I?m old enough to remember the 1976 and 1980 elections, and Ronald Reagan was the conservative outsider, not a GOP insider. His strength came from the power of his ideas, which frequently were at odds with the dominant Gerald R. Ford/Nelson Rockefeller wing of the GO...

Iran Uses P2P Program To Breach US Security And Steal Blueprints To Obamas
2009-03-01 22:39:00
Makes one wonder how often this type of thing happens.According to WPXI, a Pennsylvania company has uncovered a security breach involving the President's Marine One helicopters, a P2P file-sharing program, and an IP address in Tehran, the capital of Iran .Although President Obama and other high-ranking American government officials have access to a fleet of high-tech and security-enhanced helicopters, the term "Marine One" is used to refer specifically to the helicopter in which the President currently is flying. The technical specifications for all of the helicopters in the fleet are highly classified, and any security breach, particularly to a hostile foreign power, is naturally of great concern. The fact that it is happening through simple file-sharing programs, which most people seem to think are just for the "harmless" sharing of music and video files, is even more alarming.Bob Boback, CEO of Tiversa, the company who discovered the breach, explains, "We found a file containing e...

Yes I Want Obama To Fail.... Let Me Explain What I Mean
2009-03-01 02:50:00
Clearly I do not mean I want Obama to fall flat on his face and make our country worse off. I want Obama to make our country better. I want him to fix the economy. I want him to protect our country. The problem is I do not believe that his policies are responsible and will make things better. In fact I believe his policies will make things worse! So if he is going to push for these policies I want him to fail to implement them. That only makes sense... But apparently liberals cant grasp this. They seem to keep making a big deal over Rush and others saying "I want Obama to fail." When all they are saying is they don't want him to succeed in implementing socialist like policies. It really doesn't seem like rocket science to me to understand this.Think Progress posted today saying Michelle Malkin "wants Obama to fail".They even post a transcript of what she says:MALKIN: When the President proposes things like trillion dollar budgets that have earmarks that he claims do not exist, yes...

Norway: Muslim Leader Says USA Is Responsible For 9/11
2009-02-25 05:08:00
See Islam In Europe for the whole story. The USA was responsible for the terror attacks of 9/11, a Norwegian imam claimed during a lecture at Oslo University College. In front of a packed lecture hall at the college, the famous Norwegian imam Zulqarnain Sakandar Madni claimed at length tat it was the American powers who were responsible for the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.The lecture, which was organized by IslamNet in May, 2008, was uploaded to YouTube. In two weeks he is again invited to speak to Muslim students at the nation's largest college. This is taking place at the same time that PST (Norwegian security service) cautions in its new threat report against an increasing tendency to radicalization in some part of the Norwegian-Muslim community.Imam Zulqarnain Sakandar Madni grew up in Norway but was educated in Saudi-Arabia.In the videos, which have been uploaded to the poplar internet site, the imam, who's also known as head of Norway's united ulama (scholars), hints ...

Obama's New Spy Chief Publishes a Vicious Anti Israel Journal
2009-02-25 04:51:00
Thanks to Jihad Watch:Ben Smith has confirmed that Chas Freeman has been offered and accepted President Obama's invitation to be the Chairman of the National Intelligence Council, the intelligence community's primary big-think shop and the lead U.S. governmental body in producing national intelligence estimates. For the last dozen years, Freeman, the former US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, has been President of the Middle East Policy Council (formally known as the American Arab Affairs Council) a lobbying group for the Arab world. One of the group?s primary functions is to publish a quarterly journal called Middle East Policy. The journal is filled with anti-Israel messages that are beyond even the broadest definition of mainstream of U.S. thinking on the region. As the President of the organization responsible for this vicious and biased journal, the appointment of Freeman as a gatekeeper for U.S. intelligence is a very disturbing matter. The Chairman of the National Intelligence Cou...

Poll: 67% Of Pakistanis Ok With Honor Killings Only 3.6% Believe Taliban Ar
2009-02-25 04:02:00
Thanks to Muslims Against ShariaThe British government has funded research into public opinion in the tribal areas, the poorest area of Pakistan where the average local income is half the national average and average per capita development expenditure under a third of that elsewhere.Locals, who express a strong desire for more jobs, hold mixed views on the cause of local "Taliban isation", blaming it on the Afghan conflict, corrupt and inefficient local government, poverty and illiteracy. Though there is strong support for better female access to health and education, there was profound reluctance among the largely male survey respondents to empower women more generally, with 67% supporting "honour killings". Over 50% of those polled believed Islamic law brought peace to the region and only 3.6% considered the Taliban to be terrorists.Very telling statistics.

Congress To View Fitna
2009-02-25 03:41:00
This is wonderful news for freedom of speech. Thanks to Islam In Action:WASHINGTON ? Republican Sen. Jon Kyl is hosting a film screening at the Capitol building on Thursday for a far-right Dutch lawmaker who claims that Islam inspires terrorism.Kyl is sponsoring the event for Geert Wilders, who was denied entry to London earlier this month because British authorities said he posed a threat to public order.Wilders? 15-minute film juxtaposes verses from the Quran with images of violence by Muslims. Wilders has called the Quran a "fascist book" and said it should be banned.Kyl agreed to facilitate the event because "all too often, people who have the courage to point out the dangers of militant Islamists find themselves vilified and endangered," said spokesman Ryan Patmintra.Thursday?s event was being sponsored by the International Free Press Society, headed by Danish activist Lars Hedegaard, and the Center for Security Policy, a think tank in Washington led by Republican Frank Gaffney...

Terror Training Camps On American Soil
2009-02-20 04:46:00
Great article from Robert Spencer? We are fighting to destroy the enemy. We are dealing with evil at its roots and its roots are America.?So said the Pakistani Sheikh Muburak Gilani, leader of the jihad terrorist group Jamaat ul-Fuqra. And the way that he and his organization are ?dealing with evil at its roots? is to set up jihad terror training camps all over the United States -- often under the noses of government and law enforcement officials who are either indifferent or too hamstrung by political correctness to do anything about it.Sheikh Gilani is no shrinking violet, and Jamaat ul-Fuqra is a force to be reckoned with both in the United States and elsewhere. Journalist Daniel Pearl was on his way to interview Gilani when he was kidnapped and beheaded in 2002. The following year, a member of Jamaat ul-Fuqra, Iyman Faris, pled guilty to plotting to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge. In 2005, the Department of Homeland Security included the group among ?predicted possible sponsors of a...

2009-02-20 04:15:00
Thanks to Jawa Report:Hamas has a message for President Obama. And who better to deliver it than Sen. John Kerry , visiting Gaza this week? A senior UN official told BBC News that the letter has been received by the UN, but would not specify if Kerry had been the one to accept it. The Massachusetts Democrat did not meet with Hamas, instead focusing on humanitarian concerns. "[The visit] does not indicate any shift whatsoever with respect to Hamas...what it indicates is our effort to listen and to learn," Kerry said.SOURCEKerry says we were going to listen and learn from Hamas? Obama Secertly Backed Plan For Sharia Law In Pakistan
2009-02-19 15:19:00
Wow how ridiculous is this? From The Telegraph:American officials have privately backed Pakistan 's "Sharia law for peace" deal with Taliban militants in the Swat Valley despite publicly criticising it as a "negative development".The deal, under which Sharia law will be introduced in the Malakhand and Kohistan districts of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province if Taliban militants end their armed campaign in the Swat Valley, has been met with alarm by Nato chiefs and British and American officials.Nato fears the deal would create a new "safe haven" for extremists, said a spokesman on Tuesday night, while a statement from Britain's High Commission in Islamabad said: "Previous peace deals have not provided a comprehensive and long-term solution to Swat's problems. We need to be confident that they will end violence, not create space for further violence."President Barack Obama 's special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan voiced the greatest concern about the strength of Taliban mi...

Obama Approves 17,000 Troops To Be Sent To Afghanistan
2009-02-18 03:23:00
My question is why?WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama has approved adding about 17,000 U.S. troops for the flagging war in Afghanistan , administration, defense and congressional officials said Tuesday. The Obama administration is expected to announce on Tuesday that it will send one additional Army brigade and an unknown number of Marines to Afghanistan this spring and summer. Officials spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of the official announcement.About 8,000 Marines are expected to go in first, followed by about 9,000 Army troops. The new forces represent the first installment on a larger influx of U.S. forces widely expected this year. Obama's decision would get several thousand troops in place in time for the increase in fighting that usually comes with warmer weather and ahead of national elections in August. The additional forces partly answer a standing request from the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. David McKiernan, who has sought as many as 30,000 additional U....
