Jihadist Leader In Iraq Happy Obama Won
2008-11-08 15:41:00
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- The leader of a jihadi group in Iraq argued Friday that the election of Barack Obama as president represented a victory for radical Islamic groups that had battled American forces since the invasion of Iraq. The statement, which experts said was part of the psychological duel with the United States, was included in a 25-minute audiotaped speech by Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella organization that claims ties to Al Qaeda. Mr. Baghdadi's statement was posted on a password-protected Web site called Al Hesbah, used to disseminate information to Islamic radicals. In his address, Mr. Baghdadi also said that the election of Mr. Obama -- and the rejection of the Republican candidate, Senator John McCain -- was a victory for his movement, a claim that has already begun to resonate among the radical faithful. In so doing Mr. Baghdadi highlighted the challenge the new president would face as he weighed how to remove troops fr...

Obamas Statement REQUIRING High Schoolers And College Students To Serve Com
2008-11-08 05:03:00
Amazing! I wrote about this the other day:Obama To Require All High Schoolers To Serve 50 Hours Of Community ServiceThe new government website http://change.gov/americaserves/ used to say:Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.It now says:Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. You can still view the original in the google cache HEREI have also taken a screen capture in case the google cache gets deleted.CLICK ON THE THUMBNAIL FOR A LARGER IMAGE:I find it a little strange...

Obamas Election Drives Up Gun Sales
2008-11-08 03:17:00
Not surprisingWhile shoppers are cutting back on almost everything, sales of one item are suddenly soaring -- guns. Buyers across the country are snapping up firearms at a record pace.At 9 a.m. today, the counter was already crowded at Cheaper Than Dirt, a discount gun and ammunition store in Fort Worth, Texas. "Everyone is here for the same reason: Buy it now or you're not going to have a chance in the future," said Charlie Street, a gun owner. At Cheaper Than Dirt alone, more than $100,000 in guns and ammunition have been sold every day since Election Day. Buyers are stocking up before President-elect Barack Obama takes office.SOURCE

Obama Makes Stupid Joke About Nancy Regan.... Now Apologizes
2008-11-08 01:52:00
Heres the video from todays press conference:Now he is apologizing for this:President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan this afternoon to apologize for a joke about her having heald "séances" in the White House, an Obama aide said.?President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off handed remark he made during today?s press conference," said transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter. "The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation."Obama was asked at his press conference today if he'd spoken to all the "living" presidents."I have spoken to all of them who are living," he responded. "I didn?t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any séances."He was apparently confusing stories about Reagan's consulting with an astrologer with those about other First Ladies -- from Mary Todd Lincoln to Hillary Clinton -- who tried to make contact with fi...

Chinese Hackers Hack Into White House Computers... Steal Emails
2008-11-07 23:01:00
Scary stuff!WASHINGTON ? The White House computer system was penetrated numerous times by Chinese hackers, the Financial Times reported Friday. The cyber attackers obtained e-mails between government officials and stole information before U.S. computer experts fixed the system, a senior U.S. official told the Financial Times.U.S. government cyber intelligence experts suspect the attacks were sponsored by the Chinese government because of their targeted nature. They added that it is difficult to trace the exact source of an attack beyond a server in a particular country.Newsweek magazine reported Wednesday that a foreign power hacked into the computer systems of both John McCain's and Barack Obama's presidential campaigns.Obama's team concluded on its own that the hackers were Russian or Chinese and probably were seeking foreign policy information.A federal law enforcement source confirmed the Newsweek story to FOX News and described the incident as "fairly significant."SOURCE

Syria Leaders Nickname Obama "Abu Hussein"
2008-11-07 22:25:00
Are they racist for using his middle name? It seems everyone else that uses it is labeled racist.Meanwhile, a Syria n analyst on Friday said Syria would be prepared to restrain the militant activities of Hezbollah and Hamas if a U.S. administration led by President-elect Barack Obama shifts its policy toward Damascus. In an article published on Friday on the Asia Times Web site, Syrian analyst Sami Mubayed called on Obama to endorse the renewed peace talks with Israel to ensure their success. Mubayed, whose analyses are considered the official standpoint of the Syrian government, urged Obama to "normalize" relations between Washington and Damascus. Such "normalization" of ties would include dispatching a new U.S. ambassador to Damascus, the first since the deterioration of the states' ties in 2005. Syria would also demand that the economic sanctions against it be dropped, a change in Western rhetoric toward Damascus and compensation for the recent deadly U.S. air strike in which eig...

UPDATE: North Carolina Teacher Talking Down To Students About Mccain Being
2008-11-07 22:18:00
And update to this story: North Carolina Teacher Talks Down To Elementry Students That Support Mccain... DISGUSTING!From the schools website:I was shocked when I saw the clip of an interaction between a Cumberland County Schools teacher and her students as posted on YouTube. While neutral discussion of the political process is appropriate, at no time, particularly with elementary students, should a teacher infuse his/her political views into the discussion. Most disconcerting was the military slant that made its way into this discussion. We are a military community, serving over 15,000 military students and their families. We value the sacrifices, not only of the military parents but also those of their families. We believe that military children are our children, military spouses are many of our employees, and military service men and women are our heroes. We proudly serve our military children and have received national awards for our support of military families.I was particul...

Middle East Bloggers React To Obama Presidency
2008-11-07 22:02:00
Read what many of them had to say here:FROM IRAQ:I'm not American, but if I had the right to vote then I would vote for Senator John McCain. The reason why I would vote for that aged senator is because of his attitude concerning the withdrawal of the US army troops out of Iraq. I totally agree with the republicans that the US troops shouldn't leave Iraq soon. There is a lot of work still need to be done on the ground. Iraq hasn't built strong military and Police establishments yet. Their army needs some more time to be strong, immune and firm against any possible threat. Therefore, leaving Iraq alone is simply not the change we need, dear Obama .

Rev Wright Back In The News... Blast The Media
2008-11-07 21:54:00
Of course he waits till after the election.Barack Obama's former pastor complained Thursday that the media used him as a "weapon of mass destruction" in an attempt to derail Obama's campaign for the presidency.Speaking at a forum about race and religion, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright accused the media of taking out of context videos that showed him cursing the government and accusing it of conspiring against blacks from the pulpit of the Chicago church where Obama had worshipped for 20 years. The videos, which included Wright thundering "God damn America!", dominated cable television for weeks. The public outrage that followed caused the president-elect to sever ties with his longtime spiritual leader.Wright told an audience of about 200 people at the forum that he was trying to convey the anger and desire for vengeance that people felt after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. He said the media failed to mention that he was a proud Christian who was raised in a Christian home."Their intent...

Thousands Protest Gay Marriage Ban In California
2008-11-07 12:31:00
LOS ANGELES ? Outside the gates of a Mormon temple, Kai Cross joined more than 2,000 gay-rights advocates in a chorus of criticism of the church's role in a new statewide ban on same-sex marriage.Once a devout Mormon who graduated from Brigham Young University, the 41-year-old Cross was disowned by his family and his church after he was outed as a gay man in 2001."They are on the losing side of history," Cross said Thursday of the church's opposition to gay marriage. Cross and other protesters blame leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for encouraging Mormons to funnel millions of dollars into television ads and mailings in favor of Proposition 8.The ballot measure passed Tuesday, which was sponsored by a coalition of religious and social conservative groups, amends the California Constitution to define marriage as a heterosexual act. It overides a state Supreme Court ruling that briefly gave same-sex couples the right to wed.The protest came amid questions a...

Leader Of Iran Congratulates Obama On Winning Election
2008-11-07 12:06:00
TEHRAN ? President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran sent an unusual letter congratulating President-elect Barack Obama on Thursday for his victory in the American presidential race, even though the two nations have had no diplomatic ties for nearly 30 years.Mr. Ahmadinejad has written letters to world leaders in the past, including one to President Bush. But this is the first time an Iranian leader has congratulated the winner of an American election, at least since the Iranian revolution. Diplomatic ties between Iran and the United States were severed in 1979, when radical students attacked the United States Embassy in Tehran and took American diplomats hostage. Iranian leaders continue to use hostile language toward the United States, and Mr. Ahmadinejad had said that he did not think a black candidate could be elected because of racial discrimination.SOURCE

California: Kindergartners Sign Gay Pledge Card
2008-11-02 01:46:00
A California school system refuses to say what action, if any, it will take after it received complaints about a kindergarten teacher who encouraged her students to sign "pledge cards" in support of gays.During a celebration of National Ally Week, Tara Miller, a teacher at the Faith Ringgold School of Arts and Science in Hayward, Calif., passed out cards produced by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network to her class of kindergartners. The cards asked signers to be "an ally" and to pledge to "not use anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) language or slurs; intervene, when I feel I can, in situations where others are using anti-LGBT language or harassing other students and actively support safer schools efforts."The school has acknowledged that the exercise was not appropriate for kindergartners.Parent Adela Voelker, who declined to be interviewed in depth for this report, said she was furious when she found her child's signature on one of the cards. She said sh...

Obamas Aunt From Kenya Living In US Illegally... Gave $250 To Obama Campaig
2008-11-01 10:25:00
WASHINGTON (AP) ? Barack Obama 's aunt, a Kenya n woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as "Aunti Zeituni" in Obama's memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango's case.Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcment official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.Onyango's refusal to leave the c...

Obama Picking Which News Agencies Can Cover Him
2008-10-31 14:52:00
Via Drudge:**Exclusive** The Obama campaign has decided to heave out three newspapers from its plane for the final days of its blitz across battleground states -- and all three endorsed Sen. John McCain for president! The NY POST, WASHINGTON TIMES and DALLAS MORNING NEWS have all been told to move out by Sunday to make room for network bigwigs -- and possibly for the inclusion of reporters from two black magazines, ESSENCE and JET, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. Despite pleas from top editors of the three newspapers that have covered the campaign for months at extraordinary cost, the Obama campaign says their reporters -- and possibly others -- will have to vacate their coveted seats so more power players can document the final days of Sen. Barack Obama's historic campaign to become the first black American president. MORE Some told the DRUDGE REPORT that the reporters are being ousted to bring on documentary film-makers to record the final days; others expect to see on board more ...

Hang A Palin Effigey Nothing Happens.... Hang An Obama Effigey Get Arrested
2008-10-31 01:46:00
Clearly I dont condone either one of these incidents. But to me it just seems a bit hypocritical to let someone hang an effigy of Sarah Palin without any backlash but yet you can be arrested for hanging and effigy of Obama .LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A University of Kentucky student and another man were arrested Thursday, accused of hanging a life-sized likeness of Barack Obama from a tree on the campus. The incident was one of several in recent weeks involving effigies of the presidential candidates or their running mates. No charges have been filed in four other cases that have made national headlines.UK Interim Police Chief Joe Monroe said the men "expressed remorse for a stunt that had gotten out of hand." Arrested were Joe Fischer, 22, a UK student, and Hunter Bush, 21, both of Lexington. Both were being held at Fayette County Detention Center on charges of disorderly conduct related to the hanging of the effigy. They were also charged with burglary and theft at a fraternity house where p...

If Iraqis Could Vote They Would Vote Mccain
2008-10-30 21:18:00
For five years Ali and Mohammed have lived alongside US soldiers in their Baghdad neighbourhood near Rasheed Street, a prominent commercial artery running through the heart of the Iraqi capital. During that time American culture and politics have become familiar to them, and they say that if they could, they would vote for Republican candidate John McCain in next week's US presidential election. "McCain would be best for Iraq because he would ensure stability," said Ali, 66, an expert on the Sumerian era. The personal qualities and political platforms of McCain and his Democrat rival Barack Obama are of little import to Ali, however. His focus is on Iraq and its neighbours such as Iran. "The Iranians believe that if Obama is elected he will not take action against them despite their nuclear ambitions. That worries me," said Ali, sitting on an old bench in Al-Zahawi coffee shop. "If the Iranians get the bomb they will become the Tarzan of the region," said the former teacher and lec...

Obama Talked About Redistrubition Of The Wealth In 1996
2008-10-29 10:17:00
Barack Obama observed that Martin Luther King?s March on Washington in the 1960s wasn?t simply about civil rights but demanded jobs as well. Now the issue is again coming to the front, but he wished the issue was on the Democratic agenda not just on [Pat] Buchanan?s.One of the themes that has emerged in Barack Obama?s campaign is ?what does it take to create productive communities?, not just consumptive communities. It is an issue that joins some of the best instincts of the conservatives with the better instincts of the left. He felt the state government has three constructive roles to play. The first is ?human capital development?. By this he meant public education, welfare reform, and a ?workforce preparation strategy?. Public education requires equality in funding. It?s not that money is the only solution to public education?s problems but it?s a start toward a solution. The current proposals for welfare reform are intended to eliminate welfare but it?s also true that the status ...

Obama Compared America to Nazi Germany
2008-10-29 04:01:00
?...just to take a, sort of a realist perspective...there?s a lot of change going on outside of the Court, um, that, that judges essentially have to take judicial notice of. I mean you?ve got World War II, you?ve got uh, uh, uh, the doctrines of Nazi sm, that, that we are fighting against, that start looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going on, back here at home.?AudioThanks to Little Green Footballs

Ohio: Judge Declares Homeless Voters Can Declare Park Benches As And Addres
2008-10-29 02:52:00
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ? A federal judge in Ohio has ruled that counties must allow homeless voters to list park benches and other locations that aren't buildings as their addresses.U.S. District Judge Edmund Sargus also ruled that provisional ballots can't be invalidated because of poll worker errors.Monday's ruling resolved the final two pieces of a settlement between the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless and Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. The coalition agreed to drop a constitutional challenge to Ohio's voter identification law until after the Nov. 4 election. In return, Brunner and the coalition agreed on procedures to verify provisional ballots across all Ohio counties. The coalition was concerned that unequal treatment of provisional ballots would disenfranchise some voters.SOURCE

Kenya President Odinga Backs Obama
2008-10-27 22:22:00
Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Sunday said he would not attend the US President ial elections but noted that Kenya would be well-represented at the event in which Barack Obama is fighting it out with John McCain for the highest seat in the land. The PM said he wholly supported Obama's candidature and was just as excited as many Kenyans about the historic event. The PM who said he was optimistic Obama would win the elections said his candidature for Presidency was a great honour to Kenyans with whom he shared a common ancestry. "He will be President", Mr. Odinga said emphatically at Sara Hussein Obama's home in Kogelo. The PM was paying a courtesy call on the old lady who is Obama's Kenyan grandmother. Sarah was however, cheerful as she gave interviews to international media. Asked if all Kenyans supported Obama, Mr. Odinga said Kenyans were aware that Obama was an American but believed in the national and global stand he had taken on many issues, and his general stand on issues. The ...
