Airports in San Diego, Milwaukee, Houston and Baltimore have been put on alert for potential terrorists who could be doing dry-runs testing to see what they can get onto an airplane. The July 20th bulletin was sent out following multiple incidents where passengers were caught with "wires, switches, pipes or tubes, cell phone components and dense clay-like substances," including block cheese. Since last September four questionable seizures have taken place, where a passenger (of either sex) managed to raise the attention of security guards for carrying odd combinations of parts that they had questionable reasons for. For some reason these incidents have gone unnoticed by national media and the bulletin warning potential danger is being treated as a normal occurrence.The largest Sunni political group in Iraq has made a list of demands that if not met will cause the group to boycott the national government. Ever wonder what that bitchy Kim Delaney would look like without a ton of makeup? Well in January of 2002 she was arrested in Los Angeles for drunk driving. A month later she pleaded no contest, was put on probation and fined. Seems like the penalties for drunk driving have gotten a lot worse in the past few years.I really wouldn't want to run into that in a dark alley. Of course today is the day where the Lohan and Spears earthquake after-shock hits. Take anything related to these two with a pinch of salt, because neither has directly commented about the events following their respective breakdowns. This week's gossip, with its major A-list parties, breakdowns, DUI's, cocaine possession and theft really is very Glamorama. All of the Hollywood bitches have gone crazy. I woke up this morning expecting to find a few tid bits about the Beckhams, perhaps some Suri to brighten my morning, but alas, it was not meant to be. Instead I awoke to Britney Spear having a meltdown and Lindsay Lohan in a, ahem, 'high' speed chase. I've been a bit concerned for some time about what I see every time I sign on to my Technorati account. The left pane has actually taken on a sort of eerie "what could it be this time" kind of feel because I always take a look at the top searches. Some blog sites swear by this box as a way of manipulating traffic to your site. If you write something about one of the top 10, people will come. But the more I watch the changes per day, the more I'm sure that writing about these topics is doing the devil's dirty work for him.Take a look at the image on the left. That was taken today to prove my point. There isn't one single entry in the top ten that has anything to due with an important world issue. The US is rumored to be lifting its ban on lighters on airplanes. I have to say my personal stake in this wipes out any thoughts about safety. I once boarded a flight from Chicago to New York with an engraved Zippo lighter that was a gift. Once I reached the security checkpoint they told me they would have to confiscate the lighter and I begged to be able to keep the engraved casing, which they allowed. Still, they took the inner mechanism and I had to write to Zippo explaining the situation. Shockingly enough Zippo sent me the inner part of the lighter, free of charge. I was amazed, to say the least. Stop buying those cheap Bic lighters and invest in a Zippo, they never die and the company isn't greedy either. Just an interesting anecdote: when I boarded my return flight from NYC to Chicago, I passed through security carrying a mini-lighter. A few things have changed on the site in the past few days. The front page may not seem all that different but behind the scenes I've been working rather hard to make the site even more useful.The Digg button that was formerly in the upper right-hand corner of every post has been removed. The initial intention for the button was to entice people to digg what I've written, but after spending some time figuring out how Digg works, it became clear that the site wasn't exactly a perfect fit for Motive less Crime . An article detailing my Top 25 Digg Tips has been posted.Since the Digg button was removed, it has been replaced by a much more useful and less intrusive social bookmarking button that appears at the bottom of every post. Once clicked, it will open a new window that has a list of links including Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddit, Furl and a slew of others. I'm not really sure if Robert Van Winkle (what a white boy name) really counts as a celebrity...most of you probably know him as Vanilla Ice, that sad excuse for a white rapper. In 2001 Mr. Ice was arrested after getting into an argument with his wife that ended when he pulled some of her hair out (ouch). He was booked and copped to disorderly conduct. He was then put on probation and forced to attend family therapy sessions.Isn't it nice to know that if you pull your wife's hair out all you get is probation? He really needs to stop dying his hair. David Beckham was reported to have been benched for yesterday's LA Galaxy soccer match but he somehow managed to get onto the field for a terse 13 minutes of play time. A red carpet was rolled out, literally, for the celebrity guests who came to see Beckham play. The A-listers included wife Posh, Katie Holmes and the newly wed Eva Longoria . Did they win? No.In case you didn't know, the Beckhams are boring (or so Posh says).Eva Longria is officially on my media whore list. Look at that. Most people have seen this one make the rounds. I had to post it after I received an email from a reader who didn't agree with me that graffiti can be a useful political outlet. Her argument was basically that defacing public property is against the law and therefore shouldn't be encouraged. If I agreed that everything that was illegal was wrong, I believe that George W. Danny took a friend's car without asking and was pulled over in Santa Monica, CA then booked. Later police searched his motel room and turned up narcotics and drug paraphernalia, leading to a list of drug charges.He looks like such an exemplary citizen, doesn't he? I hate Nick Carter on principle but I can't resist posting his mugshot. Carter was arrested in March 2005 for drunk driving in California. At around 7:30 PM police had him pull to the side of the road for traffic violations and once they began talking to him it became clear that he was intoxicated. After failing the field sobriety test Carter was arrested and booked and spent a measly 4 hours in the slammer.Come on, admit it, the kid looks like he would make some Bubba's perfect bitch. Lindsay Lohan has been arrested, booked and released for her DUI in May. Lindsay walked into the Beverly Hills PD station and submitted herself for booking around 4 PM yesterday. Police sources told tabloid site TMZ that Tits and Bits was "very pleasant and cooperative." She spent approximately an hour in the pokey and is scheduled to be in court on August 24th.Tits and Bits (I'm trying out the nickname) also made news when her movie with Shirley MacLain had the plug pulled today. Initial tabloids were quick to report that it had nothing to do with Lohan's partying ways but that it was based on money issues. Yesterday's massive steam explosion in Manhattan has continued to be a problem for city officials. The official number of people who have been injured has reached past 30, but only one fatality has been caused. The major concern after the pipe had been sealed off was air safety. Most major steam vents are wrapped in asbestos, a highly dangerous fiber that if inhaled can cause serious health concerns. Initial tests showed no contamination in the air but after more tests were taken the debris surrounding the area was found to be half contaminated. Luckily wet conditions allowed the debris and asbestos in the air to settle quickly, killing its chances of causing more harm. For now the area is completely sealed off for blocks in what the city is terming a "frozen zone". The initial blast sent 200 degree super-heated steam shooting into the air and drifting for blocks, harming citizens and causing general panic.
