I'm sad to say that just short of a month since birth, Motiveless Crime is shutting down. Hopefully the information provided changed some minds somewhere. High aspirations and belief in something don't necessarily equate success in the eyes of others. While I'm sure this was just a blip on the radar somewhere, I still spent a large amount of time on this. It brought a lot of meaning to my life and gave me a creative outlet that has been missing for some time. Yet other opinions mean a lot when it comes to validating what is worthy of pride. Therefore I must part ways with these aspirations and dreams. Good luck to all who have been along on this journey. I'm so sorry for wasting anyone's time.

Celebrity Mugshot of the Day
2007-07-11 20:28:00
Motiveless Crime loves celebrities gone bad. Hence this new segment where a mugshot of a celebrity will appear most days. Of course we had to start it off right by posting one of the most famous mugshots in recent years. This was taken in July 2006. Most have heard the story but in case you missed it; Mel Gibson was pulled over for reckless driving and when police approached the car he began spewing anti-semitic remarks. Obviously he was drunk off his ass. Now he is known as the world's biggest Jew-hater. Of course the best part is the mugshot, which was obviously taken before he had sobered up. Thanks to The Smoking Gun for the image.

Paris Hilton had a spa day yesterday and exited wearing an Andy Warhol inspired shirt. The disturbing part is that someone actually made an Andy Warhol shirt with her image...and she wore it. Andy Warhol would so not approve."They" are remaking Footloose. I died a little inside when I read this. Zac Efron, of Hairspray and High School Musical, will be playing the tractor dancing part that Kevin Bacon turned iconic. Zac Efron, despite being borderline ugly, has managed to keep himself in the tabloids on a continual basis and it has obviously paid off. Here is what one "source" close to Brit had to say:On several occasions, I have seen her pouring alcohol into energy drink cans. Britney requests that her alcohol be served in carafes rather than in bottles. Once, a waitress made the mistake of bringing her a bottle. Brit grabbed her arm and told her she couldn't be se...

An interesting perspective on the clash of civilizations. But does anyone listen?I remember living in NYC and seeing this in every subway car. It really does incite fear of your fellow man, which is the true aim of terrorism. We might as well concede defeat.I stumbled upon this today and couldn't help but find it amusing. Click on the image and read the article--it only gets better.Yes, I am a Harry Potter fan. Tomorrow Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is released and I'm excited to see if they can manage to create the same dark mood as in the book. Reviews have it that it is the most disturbing yet in the series. After having read the entire series I still prefer Order of the Phoenix over all of the others mainly because of the rebellion that begins. If only real life was this interesting.

Pope Benedict XVI approved a document today that asserts the Roman Catholic Church as the only true Christian church. The document also goes on to state that other Christian denominations are either defective or not true churches at all and that Catholicism is the only path to salvation. It isn't like he said anything that most Catholics didn't already believe and extol in mass. Oddly enough, wasn't he recently on a mission to unite the Christian faith for the better good? This doesn't seem to mesh with that. Charles Kimball, who wrote one of my favorite books, would have something to say. Kimball, in his nonfiction When Religion Becomes Evil stated that five warning signs emerge when a religion is no longer working towards a better humanity. Those five warning signs are as follows:Absolute Truth ClaimsBlind ObedienceEstablishing the "Ideal" TimeThe End Justifies Any MeansDeclaring Holy WarEnough said.Al Qaeda has officially waged war on Iran . CNN vs Michael Moore
2007-07-11 04:34:00
CNN ran a story trying to discredit Michael Moore 's latest political documentary, Sicko . They then made the mistake of inviting him onto the show for a rebuttal. Wolf Blitzer received the full hit, thankfully. Here is the initial story:And Moore's response, which I saw on rerun earlier this morning:While Michael Moore's arrogance and in-your-face attitude is offputting to some, you can't help but love when he tells Blitzer and the media at large to stop lying to the American public and to tell the truth. I haven't seen Sicko, nor will I support or refute any claims made by the movie but I do wish the media would start telling the unbiased truth.

Apathy: The UnAmerican Way
2007-07-11 01:39:00
A very close friend of mine has her political views on Facebook listed as ?Apathetic?. She knows that this annoys me to not end because I equate apathy with the end of the world. In an age where opinions outnumber assholes, we have to assume that anyone without one isn?t worth our time. While I hate to admit it, bringing up a political hot topic in most public forums (besides the internet) will most likely end on a flat line. People are either too afraid to speak their minds or they think their opinion isn?t developed or informed enough. Then again, my friend has no interest in educating herself on any given topic that happens to fall into a political spectrum. What she doesn?t realize is that everything in the modern age is political, even her choice to remain out of it.Politicians make a common mistake of trying to go after votes that they already have. Take for instance John McCain who is making news because his campaign for the ?08 Republican Presidential nomination is nearly fl...

Paris Hilton was at Teddy's the other night. She emerged from an SUV followed by a plume of pot smoke. Are we supposed to be shocked? Here is a witness' account from Page Six:...the newly spiritual heirhead emerged from an SUV in front of Hollywood club Teddy's the other night in what witnesses describe as a cloud of marijuana smoke. "She took a huge puff off of a joint, then opened the door and exhaled the pot smoke basically in my face," one clubgoer told us.So Paris Hilton is still a bitch. Good to know.Speaking of crazy bitches, reporters that were allowed backstage at Madonna's Live Earth concert were instructed to retain eye contact with Madge while asking her questions. They were not allowed to read their notes or questions and therefore had to have them memorized while looking the dragon in the eye. They were also instructed to leave out any reference to Guy Ritchie, her children or Kabbalah (is she still doing that?). So basically what Madge did was stare reporters down...

Many Things Before Bed would probably be a more apt title for tonight's ending post. The past few days have been pretty slow on the news front and I ran across this Garfield comic which managed to sum up my feelings on the past weekend:Speaking of comics, a new movie is coming out that I saw a trailer for earlier in the evening. I'm surprised it has been made into a movie but it still looks of interest, mainly because I love my dogs and my mother has always told me about this character:IKEA is taking an interesting stance on becoming green:Yet another reason to love the company.A major rumor is spreading across the net tonight. After today's announcement that Sony was cutting prices on the Play Station 3, it appears that the company behind the main cause for the price cut is planning on doing the same. Microsoft is supposedly going to announce tomorrow night that it will be cutting the cost of its basic Xbox 360 package by $50. This would, in the end, rule out the change for Sony ...

That is a video from The Format's last album Dog Problems. Oddly enough I had never seen any of the band's videos and could care less. The music is enough to stand on its own. While the video is interesting, the main reason that I am posting this little fluff piece is to help the band out.A year ago Dog Problems was released. To commemorate the occasion the group is releasing their album for free, via their site. You can download every song and even the linear notes in PDF format. Trust me, the music is great and best of all, it is FREE!I bought the album myself and have never regretted it.Follow this link to get the goods. Spread the word. Google has announced that it will be purchasing Postini, a web security program, for $729 million, a move that some are saying is an attempt at making its web application suite comparable to Microsoft's. Postini is known for its encryption and security services that cover instant messaging, email and web-surfing. Google released its own Google Apps, which aims at trying to soak up small business' in need if web security. This latest acquisition is just another sign that Google wants to move up the food chain by alluring larger businesses away from the flash of Microsoft Security.New satellite imagery shows activity outside of a major Iranian uranium enrichment facility which some analysts are saying is a sign that the country is trying to protects its nuclear weapons program from possible aerial attacks. Scarlett, oh my pretty pretty Scarlett. She is in Barcelona shooting her third movie, in as many years, with Woody Allen. The picture reminded me why I loved her to begin with. Thank God she isn't in mom shorts and wearing that horrid nose-thing like last week. Buyouts seem to be prominently figured in major media outlets lately. First it was YouTube being purchased by Google and quickly followed by their own multi-national release. iPhone NewsLeading up to the iPhone release I covered most major news stories mainly out of disdain and shock at how Apple was controlling the media and creating such an immense hype over a first-generation piece of multimedia crap. After its first weekend on sale it has become clear that the American public is composed of a bunch of morons. Reports now have it that nearly 700,000 iPhones flew off the shelves since its release. Apparently that is pretty much all of the first shipment that went out. So what does that equate for Apple?Multiple reports have come out to say that Apple is making a 55% profit off of every iPhone sold (can anyone say price gouging?) which means for every $500-600 phone they make $250-300. Multiply that by 700,000 in less than a week = $210 million median profit. Not to mention that their stock has risen 5% and is now selling for 127 per share.Such greed and corporate growth is ridiculous and shameful. Even more shame to anyone who bought into it.CavemenEve...

July 4th: Patriotism for Sale
2007-07-05 22:52:00
Yesterday many Americans celebrated the holiday known as July 4th which is probably more aptly titled Independence Day. The bastardization of the actual holiday isn?t limited to its common name but the actual meaning behind the holiday has been lost. I resisted commenting on the state of American patriotism yesterday mainly out of respect for the holiday and because while the reaction to the holiday is distasteful it is also 1% patriotic. On any given 4th of July you could approach any American and ask them what the holiday stands for and their simple and concise answer would be: Independence Day. But do most Americans realize what Independence Day truly stood for in the past? The day marks the most radical of ideas and one of the most influential documents that has ever been written was signed into law on July 4th, 1776. The Declaration of Independence, at the time, was an effort of at creating a new and pure government built on the ideas of individual freedoms and liberties ...

Plus July 4th has come and gone so people can't call me unpatriotic for having an independent thought about current US actions in the Middle East!I saw this image and it got me thinking about Operation Arrowhead Ripper. In case you weren't aware a little over a week ago the US government began a new and more lethal attempt at driving out militant factions in the Middle East by way of creating battles in residential neighborhoods where they believed "terrorists" to be hiding as well as the occasional bomb in villages, causing last weeks civilian death toll to reach 250. Operation Arrowhead Ripper is a stupid name. What would you rename it?

Soon social bookmarking sites will be integrated into the site but will be removed if they prove to not be useful.Earlier when MC was still in development we used AdSense to try and gain a profit. When you spend all day working on a site and its content, you have to hope that it will someday turn a profit. In fact more than one of these articles straddles the line between news and things that belong in Guilty Pleasures. Curious gadget fans smash, dissect iPhonesHow long did it take Apple to create the second coming? Apparently the iconic "Jesus Phone" (aka iPhone) took a mere six months to create...and only a few seconds to break. After Friday's release, enthusiasts and competitors alike immediately began disassembling the $600 phone. Pictures began surfacing almost immediately of what makes the iPhone tick. Why would one do this? To learn how Apple has cornered the market. Enthusiasts just want the knowledge, competitors want the technology. Competitors for the iPod, Mac and iPhone have been confounded for years as to how Apple manages to create their products mostly because they keep a tight leash on the suppliers of each tiny part.
