The Palmetto Scoop
The best political news and information from South Carolina. The Palmetto Scoop (TPS) is reinventing and redefining the Palmetto State’s political scene. We’re fun, edgy, at times crass, and admittedly conservative. And we’re just fine with that.

President Bush hearts Lindsey
2008-03-10 18:31:00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wedqg0V6wV k POTUS CUTS NEW AD FOR INCUMBENT SENATOR Sen. Lindsey Graham’s re-election campaign has released a new advertisement featuring none other than the commander-in-chief himself. In the 30-second spot, titled “Proven,” President Bush praises Graham’s conservative credentials. “I’m proud to stand with Senator Lindsey Graham,” says Bush. “He bases his votes on conservative principles. Lindsey Graham understands that low taxes work. He cares deeply about those who volunteered, and he’s a strong supporter of our nation’s veterans. When I nominated John Roberts and Sam Alito, there was no better ally than Lindsey Graham to see to it that these two good men were confirmed. “Senator Lindsey Graham deserves to be re-elected to the United States Senate,” concludes Bush. The ad was shot during Bush’s visit to Columbia last November. Now, two things stick out about this ad. On...

Miss Teen SC loses her crown
2008-03-10 15:58:00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKwmseoKFC o LEXINGTON NATIVE NO LONGER THE DUMBEST BEAUTY PAGEANT CONTESTANT EVER… LIKE SUCH AS I’m still absolutely convinced that Lauren Caitlin Upton planned every bit of her infamous Miss Teen USA pageant meltdown last August. She cashed in in a little too easily and the quickness with which she made the most out of her 15 minutes was, at the very least, suspicious. Don’t think I’m complaining about that, though — quite the contrary. Upton has given me tons of fodder to write about and I couldn’t thank her enough for that. In fact, she made it way too easy. But now she has been one-upped by a contestant in some pageant where they don’t speak English really goodly. In a question that was much easier than the one given to Upton, Janina San Miguel was asked what role her family played in her “campaign for Binibining Pilipinas (that’s either the name of the pageant or some kind of fungal crea...
Inglis gets down
2008-03-09 01:29:00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMu0REFLtM M IN THAT REALLY CREEPY KIND OF WAY It’s not easy to run for Congress when you’re an incumbent, there’s no real opposition and your seat is only slightly less secure than Fort Knox. In that scenario, you need to raise lots and lots of money. And everyone knows, the best way to raise that kind of dough is to make a fool of yourself by boogieing down for cash. The re-election campaign of South Carolina’s 4th District congressman “invites you to get down with Bob” at 7:30 tonight at Furman University’s Younts Conference Center. For a mere $100 contribution ($25 for students), you can watch Republican Rep. Bob Inglis entertain you by letting his “two right feet” go with the disco flow. [Charleston Post and Courier] I went to Inglis’ campaign website, and found the “Get Down With Bob” section, and it was more disturbing than the time I Googled “most disturbing thing ...
SC Press Association gives out a bunch of awards
2008-03-08 01:02:00
IT’S LIKE THE OSCARS FOR SC JOURNALISTS, ONLY THERE’S NO AWARD SHOW, NO LONG SPEECHES… AND NO OSCAR In what has to be the least exciting announcement since Gov. Mark Sanford endorsed GOP presidential nominee John McCain Thursday, the South Carolina Press Association unveiled its 2007 nameless awards for people who write for newspapers in this state. We’ll call them the “Palmetto Pressies” until they come up with something better. Unlike the Oscars, there is no televised award ceremony (note: there could be an award ceremony, but I didn’t feel like looking into it) with a red carpet where crazy things happen and people give long, dramatic speeches thanking God, their parents, their 8th grade teacher and the crack dealer who gave them a really good tip on that big investigative piece that just won them their very first Pressie. I think the reason they don’t do all that is because the speeches would probably start with a hard news lead ...

Ann ?Tunky? Riley has died
2008-03-07 22:32:00
Sad news to pass along: The wife of former South Carolina Governor Dick Riley has died. She was 72. Ann “Tunky” Riley died Friday morning in Greenville from complications of breast cancer. Her brother Edward Yarborough tells The Associated Press that the funeral will be held Monday. Yarborough remembered his sister as someone who brought passion and commitment to everything she took on. After Riley’s time as governor from 1978-86, the couple moved to Washington when Riley served as President Clinton’s Secretary of Education. The couple were married for more than 50 years. Yarborough says the former governor is devastated. [AP] ETV has put together a pretty nice “Web Remembrance” to commemorate her life. It includes several streaming video clips from a Sept. 2007 episode of “The Big Picture.” Among the clips of Gov. and Mrs. Riley in their Greenville home are discussions of everything from how Tunky got her nickname to her reflections...

What?s going on with Columbia City Council candidates?
2008-03-07 17:27:00
BOYER, RICKENMANN COMMIT POLITICAL SUICIDE HOURS APART I’m not quite sure if I’ve ever written about the Columbia City Council . I’ve written about other city councils, but to my recollection, nothing about Columbia. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, although I’m usually not. It’s not that I don’t care, it’s just that… well, actually yes, I really don’t care. But today I do because, in the last week, the frontrunners for the two contested seats (only three of the six seats are on the ballot this year, and 25-year incumbent E.W. Cromartie didn’t draw a challenger) may have effectively sunk their campaigns with less than a month left in the election. And amazingly, they did so in completely unrelated ways. In the third district race to replace outgoing Councilwoman Anne Sinclair, Brian Boyer had been the candidate to beat for months now. That is, until he and a friend allegedly beat the crap out of a house guest...

SANFORD ENDORSES McCAIN!
2008-03-06 23:47:00
GUV STILL WEIGHING OPTIONS FOR 1948 TRUMAN, DEWEY RACE In a “ringing” endorsement given through HIS SPOKESMAN to the Associated Press, Gov. Mark Sanford has FINALLY endorsed Republican presidential nominee John McCain. A full two days after McCain locked up the party’s nomination. Sanford spokesman Joel Sawyer says the governor said all along said he would support the Republican Party’s nominee. Sawyer says that Sanford thinks McCain will make a great president. Sanford had been a state co-chairman of McCain’s 2000 campaign in South Carolina. But this time around he kept his preferences to himself before and after the first-in-the-South primary on January 19. [AP] How freaking lame. Not only does he lack the cajones to back his party’s nominee, but when at long-last he summons the “courage” to do so, he does it through a spokesman. Not himself, someone else. And not even a direct quote from the spokesman, just a pair of paraphrase...

Real ID getting real ugly
2008-03-06 18:06:00
HOUSE CALLS ON SANFORD TO PREVENT FEDERAL BACKLASH I think the legislative spat of the season is finally upon us. Sure, we’ve had miniature scuffles over sprinklers, the budget, dueling and whether the state color should be blue, but there could be some serious drama over the Real ID program. And thank goodness, because I was getting really bored with all the nothing going on lately. For those of you that have a life, the Real ID Act is a federally mandated program that requires states to impose new, tougher standards for getting identification. Failure to comply with the law would mean residents of that state could no longer use their driver’s license to board an airplane. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security gave states until March 31 to file for an extension. After that, people would instead be forced to use a passport, a military ID or undergo secondary security screening before they could travel on an airline. And of course, South Carolina is one of four st...

Graham on FNC
2008-03-06 00:53:00
Tumpy Campbell isn’t the only South Carolinian taking to the national airwaves on the FOX News Channel. Sen. Lindsey Graham got a little face time with the American people today as his good friend, GOP presidential nominee John McCain, entered the White House to meet with President Bush. Graham discussed McCain’s friendship with his future predecessor, as well as fundraising and the Democratic race. “If you want to make sure we have a conservative in the White House, someone who can answer the phone at 3 in the morning like John McCain, with a lifetime of experience in matters of war and peace, then send money,” he said when asked about the impact of a continued Democrat race on McCain. “But there is enthusiasm [for Democrats]; they are going to dominate the political stage quite a while, so there is an upside for the Democrats. “The upside for us is that we have a nominee that is well-experienced, that reaches all corners of America, can unify ...

Campbell takes to FNC
2008-03-05 23:26:00
SON OF FORMER GOV. TO DISCUSS POSSIBLE GOP VP’S I just spoke with Carroll “Tumpy” Campbell III, son of the former South Carolina governor, who told me that he will be appearing on the Fox News Channel tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. to discuss Republican presidential nominee John McCain’s possible running mate. Campbell will on the Live Desk with the smoking hot Martha MacCallum. “I’m flattered that they contacted me and asked me weigh in on McCain’s choices,” he said. “It will really be a great opportunity for me and it shows the importance of South Carolina.” What makes this fascinating is that Gov. Mark Sanford’s name is near the top of most vice presidential short lists, and those two get along about as well as the human stomach and McDonalds. Campbell recently dropped a lawsuit against the governor after Sanford booted him from the Ports Authority board for no justifiable reason. So it will be interesting to see if Camp...

SLED to investigate Young arrest
2008-03-05 20:56:00
South Carolina’s State Law Enforcement Division announced that they will be taking a look into whether or not police used excessive force in arresting Gamecock lineman Kevin Young over the weekend. Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier says Young and other witnesses have said police hit Young several times, drawing blood while taking him into custody early Sunday after a fight in a nightclub district. Columbia city manager Charles Austin says he asked SLED to look into the arrest so the truth can come out. Young was charged with fighting and resisting arrest. Spurrier says he will wait and decide whether to punish the freshman once all the facts are revealed. [AP] Spurrier also noted at a press conference Monday that the 20-year-old redshirt freshman — and other witnesses — was being held down by others and may have been punched by a police officer. And a number of witnesses have stated that Young’s role in the altercation was merely that of a peacemaker. That wil...

You forgot about bridge safety, didn?t you?
2008-03-05 17:50:00
AAA REMINDS US THAT OUR BRIDGES STILL SUCK Although last year’s Minneapolis, Minn. bridge collapse is a distant memory to some, the motor vehicle watchdogs at AAA Carolinas are still as vigilant as ever about bridge safety. Well, as vigilant as one can be when it comes to massive structures that don’t go anywhere or do anything but just sit around waiting to be driven on. The group released a list of the 20 worst bridges in South Carolina and, surprise, surprise, 16 of them are not even scheduled for repairs. But fear not, despite the fact that we’re doing almost nothing to prevent a possible disaster, none of the bridges named poses an immediate threat to motorists at this time. The worst substandard bridge in the state ? for eight consecutive years — carries Interstate 26 traffic over the CN&L railroad tracks three miles northwest of Columbia in Richland County, and has an average weekly traffic of 581,700. Built in 1958, there are no state plans to ...

Dawson endorses McCain
2008-03-05 04:15:00
MAYBE SANFORD DIDN’T GET THE MEMO The leader of the South Carolina Republican Party is formally endorsing soon-to-be Republican presidential nominee John McCain. Chairman Katon Dawson , who chose to remain neutral until the GOP had chosen its candidate, said tonight that he is pledging his full support to McCain. ?First, I want to congratulate Governor Mike Huckabee and all of our Republican candidates for president on the optimistic, issue-orientated campaigns they ran,” Dawson said. ?Tonight, I am proud to pledge the full support of the South Carolina Republican Party to Senator John McCain who clinched the Republican nomination for President of the United States.” His endorsement came mere moments after former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee officially ended his White House bid following a shutout in tonight’s primaries. Dawson was one of the last Republican heavyweights in the state to get behind McCain. “McCain is a common sense conservative who beli...

Jessica Biel something or other
2008-03-04 21:40:00
THERE’S ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOING ON TODAY… AT ALL… When I think of it, I’m not sure I’ve ever watched one thing that Jessica Biel has ever done. I remember she was on that obnoxious WB show about the perfect little squeaky-clean upper-middle class suburbanite family and then she was in a slew of big screen bombs. But I would have to go to IMDB to actually name anything specific, and I really don’t have the energy right now. Anyway, what I’m getting at is news that she’s coming to South Carolina for some reason to do some thing that I really don’t care about. I would elaborate, but the other blogs are all over it like a chihuahua on its owner’s leg. Producers wanted to film the upcoming Jake Gyllenhaal political satire, ?Nailed,? at a site that looks like the nation?s Capitol. The S.C. State House earned the part. […] ?Nailed,? which also stars Jessica Biel, should begin filming in mid-April in Columbia and Lexingto...

We?ve improved to average
2008-03-04 17:40:00
SC GOVERNMENT ACHIEVES MEDIOCRITY IN PEW SCORECARD The Pew Center on the States released a scorecard on Monday that rated the effectiveness of state governments on how well they manage their budgets, staffs, infrastructure and information. Based on that sentence, guess where we ranked… South Carolina earned a “B-,” the national average, with the report citing the governor’s weak authority. Thirteen states earned higher grades, while 19 states scored below the average. Exactly. Once again we came in dead last in… wait, what the hell? Who put this report together? You’re telling me there are 19 states with worse state governments than ours? If so, this is great news for us and horrendous news for those states. I mean, if you live in one of those states, your government is worse than this. And this. And this. And this. But that can’t be possible. Something is wrong with this scorecard. Share This

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwkbjxUR1D E SPARTANBURG’S UNBELIEVABLE VICTORY RUINED BY BAD CALL The final seconds of the Spartanburg v. Summerville Class AAAA Boys State Championship may have been the most amazing — and heartbreaking — moments I have ever witnessed in a basketball game. Forget Duke v. Kentucky in 1992. Forget NC State v. Houston in 1983. This finish was something else. Trailing by two points with less than a second in the game, Spartanburg’s Zycorrian Robinson heaved an impossible full court hail-mary that would remembered for years to come as the miraculous bucket that won his Vikings a state championship. That is, until the shot was waved off for no reason and a 50-48 victory handed to Summerville. As Spartanburg?s players started celebrating, an official waved off the basket, ruling the shot left Robinson?s hands after time expired. All three officials huddled as both teams gathered nearby and Summerville star A.J. Green knelt in pray...

2008-03-03 21:14:00
McCAIN PICKS UP BIG GUBERNATORIAL SUPPORT SANS SANFORD John McCain’s presidential campaign just sent out a list of six Republican governors who announced today that they are endorsing the Arizona Senator. Mississippi’s Haley Barbour, Louisiana’s Bobby Jindal, Georgia’s Sonny Perdue, Alabama’s Bob Riley, North Dakota’s John Hoeven, and Hawaii’s Linda Lingle all gave their support to the GOP’s soon-to-be nominee. But that heavyweight list is missing one name, our own Mark Sanford. At a time when the entire party is rallying around McCain and Sanford — despite his almost overwhelming baggage — is on everyone’s short list to be McCain’s running mate, the governor is still for some reason withholding his support. Is it that he hasn’t found the right moment yet? Is he waiting for more cameras to be around? Is he trying to continue feigning indifference? Or is this just sour grapes after cowardice cost him h...

SECOND GAMECOCK ARRESTED IN AS MANY WEEKS When University of South Carolina receiver Dion Lecorn was busted on Feb. 18 for smoking pot outside his Columbia apartment complex, I figured it was the first, but probably not the last arrest of the offseason for the Gamecocks. What I didn’t expect was that the second one would come less than a fortnight later. Also unexpected? That I would be measuring time in Old English units. But what can I say, I’ve got a bit of a regressive streak. Kevin Young , a redshirt freshman lineman from Clearwater, Florida, was charged with fighting and resisting arrest according to Columbia Police spokesman Brick Lewis. Young was not taken to jail. The incident happened outside of Red Hot Tomatoes on Harden Street about 1:31am Sunday. Lewis told the Associated Press Young had been fighting with another man who was not a football player. […] USC Sports Information Director Steve Fink says Young’s status with the team is yet to be d...
The Lizard Man cometh
2008-03-03 01:24:00
No, the “Lizard Man of South Carolina” isn’t some kind of derogatory reference to Buddy Witherspoon — who, some have said, somewhat resembles a scaly reptile — but rather it is an urban legend about a seven-foot monster with green skin, three toes and a three clawed fingers that supposedly haunts the Midlands, eating people’s cars in the dead of the night. No, I didn’t make any of that up. And although he’s been dormant for nearly twenty years, he may have made his return last week. Dixie Rawson of Bishopville sent WIS News 10 an e-mail about a big surprise she got at her home Thursday morning. “The whole front half of our van is chewed up. There are bite marks right through the front grill. Both sides of the van above the wheel wells were bitten and the metal is bent like a piece of paper.” It reminded Dixie of the local legend of the “Lizard Man” that stretches back for decades. Now some are wondering if the ...

SOME LOCAL DAILY REPORTS ON “SOME GROUP’S SCORECARDS” You have to hand it to the Anderson Independent-Mail. They are one of the first newspapers to learn that humor sells and they decided Saturday to incorporate a bit of the subtle wit that makes blogs like this one wildly popular. In copying and pasting an otherwise-mundane article from the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire about scorecards for South Carolina’s Congress ional delegation, Anderson County’s only daily newspaper used the headline “Three South Carolina congressional representatives fare well on some group’s scorecards.” Haha… some groups? It’s amazing how condescending things sound when you put the word “some” in front of them. For example: some blogger made some pointless post about some stupid story that showed up in some crappy newspaper. How haughty. So after the Anderson paper’s wonderful introduction, how could you not be compelled to r...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-4ffFwXlX Y TONIGHT @ NEW BROOKLAND TAVERN IN WEST COLUMBIA, 9 P.M. I don’t write much on the thriving Columbia music scene because I honestly don’t know much about it. I go to shows as often as possible and support local artists as much as I can, but I’m hardly an aficionado. Hence, I’ve probably never posted about a Columbia-based band before. Anyway, every once in a while a band comes along that is so damn good they threaten to go mainstream, a la Hootie and the Blowfish. And Marry a Thief just might be one of those bands. Tonight they will be unveiling their first album titled “I am dying to outlive you” at a CD Release Show at New Brookland Tavern in West Columbia tonight at 9 p.m. The new record features seven awesome tracks from the newly-formed band — which pairs former solo artist Erich Skelton with three incredibly talented band mates (from what I hear, they have the best drummer in the state, ma...

SCDMV tackles Y2LeapDay bug
2008-03-01 00:50:00
RESULT IS ABOUT WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT If you’re over the age of 15, you have probably spent more than enough time in one of our fine Department of Motor Vehicles offices. Time spent in one of these bureaucratic hellholes is roughly equivalent to having a root canal while watching paint dry. Except the dentist only works for three minutes at a time between taking 30 minute breaks, and the paint is an unGodly puke green color. So I guess you won’t be shocked to learn that this pillar of efficiency and competency was hit Friday by that evil Y2LeapDay computer virus. According to Beth Parks with the DMV, computers went down because of a glitch with recognizing the date of February 29th. The DMV offices are almost back to normal. There are three things they still can’t do. They can’t issue CDL’s, clear suspensions or issue a driver’s record. [WIS] Something else they can’t do: plan ahead. But to their credit, they had the automated announcemen...
McCall to take on Buddy Jr.
2008-02-29 21:36:00
I received some great news yesterday when York County GOP Chairman Glenn McCall told me that he will put his name in the hat to be South Carolina’s next Republican National Committeeman. This is awesome for a number of reasons, chief among them being that the guy currently holding the position and the guy who held it before him couldn’t be less suited to do whatever it is a National Committeeman does (note: I still haven’t quite figured that out). Also, unlike Buddy Witherspoon and Buddy Jr. (current committeeman Drew McKissick), McCall is a class act who has worked hard to advance the party rather than his own personal ambitions. Oh, and McCall would be the the only African American on the Republican National Committee, a 100-member body — two people per state — that manages most of the GOP’s platform, strategy and scheduling. I was quite impressed when I spoke with McCall. He understands the significant symbolism of his candidacy — blac...

Happy Leap-Birthday, Katon!
2008-02-29 16:59:00
For the first time since 2004, South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson is celebrating his birthday. That means he’s turning 13 years old today. It also means that he is automatically open to all sorts of hilarious jokes about “acting his age.” I wonder if that means he can legally drink alcohol, drive a car, vote or even run for public office. And what does he do for the other three years? Does he celebrate on Feb. 28 or March 1? These are serious questions here, folks. Even though I wasn’t invited to his birthday party, I would still like to pass along my best wishes for a very Happy Birthday . After all, these things only come around every four years, so he better party four times as hard. Share This

For McCain, Graham is like Leonidas
2008-02-28 22:30:00
SENIOR SENATOR PICKING UP INFLUENCE AT GOP NOMINEE’S SIDE If you have yet to see the 2006 hit “300,” then you are missing out on one hell of a good movie. It could be best described as a “modern interpretation” — emphasis on “interpretation” — of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. In the movie, King Leonidas and his band of 300 Spartans must defend a vital pass against the Persian King Xerxes and his army numbering upwards of 1 million men. They must do this in the course of two hours of nonstop blood-splattering action featuring graphic novel-like visual effects, tons of slow-motion violence, and extremely exaggerated battle sequences. And just like Leonidas, Sen. Lindsey Graham is fighting multiple battles in the war to win soon-to-be Republican nominee John McCain the White House. Unlike Leonidas though, I don’t think Graham plans to get slaughtered in the process. The Hill reports that Graham is “playing bo...

SENATOR TO INVESTIGATE SANFORD IN POSSIBLE PORT ROYAL MISDEEDS In the wake of our massive story that Gov. Mark Sanford pocketed at least $4,000 in campaign cash from a Lowcountry developer prior to interfering on his behalf in the state’s multi-million-dollar sale of Port Royal, Orangeburg Sen. Brad Hutto said he will file legislation calling for an investigation of South Carolina’s top executive. In interviews with The Associated Press, Sanford has said he relayed damaging rumors he had been told about the personal and professional life of the developer who is buying the Port Royal land from the state. Hutto said he also wants to know more about donor Jim Chaffin, a Beaufort County developer who bid on the port land. Chaffin and his wife, Betsy, donated a total of $8,850 to Sanford’s 2002 and 2006 campaigns for governor, according to state Ethics Commission records and data from Follow The Money, a group that tracks money in state politics. “Now it comes out...

SOUTH CAROLINA INKS $66 MILLION DEAL WITH THE YEAR 1875 Rather than beat around the bush with some drawn-out lead paragraph, I’m going to come right out and say it: AT&T sucks. There is absolutely nothing about that company that isn’t doesn’t flat-out atrocious. They are the Internet Explorer of phone companies, only much, much, much worse. Their customer service is horrendous, their gimmicks are deceiving and their innovation rivals that of the 37-year-old guy who lives down the street with his parents and doesn’t have a job because he’s “writing the great American screenplay.” As far as I can tell, they haven’t changed a damn thing since Alexander Graham Bell spawned his now-archaic little inbred progeny. Dawson on Buckley

If you haven’t heard the sad news yet, conservative author and commentator William F. Buckley Jr. passed away today at the age of 82 after battling emphysema. Buckley, along with Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, is widely considered to be the father of modern conservatism. Historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. went so far as to call him ?the scourge of American liberalism.? South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson released the following statement on Buckley’s death: William F. Buckley was an intellectual giant who built the conservative movement and elevated it to the forefront of American politics. South Carolina Republicans are deeply saddened to hear of his passing, but we are eternally grateful for his work. We too join the millions of others who remember Buckley’s life and the great things he did for conservatives and America as a whole. I think my favorite Buckley moment is when he absolutely owned Noam Chomsky during a 1969 debate. It goes without sayin...

OTHER STATEWIDE OFFICES TO BE APPOINTED UNDER HOUSE BILL I’m not completely opposed to the idea of having gubernatorial candidates choose running mates and eliminate elections for the office of lieutenant governor. But I’m not sure I’m on board quite yet. And I’m certainly not in favor of having the governor appoint any of the other statewide offices. Both of those things would happen though if proposed House legislation becomes law. The bill to be debated Tuesday would also allow voters to decide whether to make the state adjutant general an appointed position. South Carolina currently has the nation’s only elected National Guard chief. Gov. Mark Sanford and some legislators have persistently called for fewer statewide elected positions. [The State] Of course Sanford is going to call for fewer elected offices. If it were up to him, he would appoint every damn position in this state. I don’t use Internet Explorer because it’s a giant pile of horse dung that has yet to catch up with the technology of 1995, much less Web 2.0. Instead, I use Mozilla Firefox — which you can download by clicking the icon in the right sidebar, below the videos box — because it is awesome, has lots of cool features and doesn’t shut down every 30 seconds. Therefore, when I checked my Inbox this morning to find a bunch of e-mails asking what happened to the site, I had no idea what was going on. Everything was loading fine for me. But then I decided to check the page in Internet Explorer and bingo, it looks like shat. So if you use this medieval web browser, the site has probably looked a little screwed up for the past few days. Apparently one of the sweet new add-ons messed with the code and screwed the appearance in Internet Explorer (b/c IE sucks bad).
