During Sunday night’s Atlanta Press Club Debate on GPB, Barnes said, “I like Johnny Isakson. I think he’s a fine Senator.” The Senate race Barnes referred to, includes well-known Democrat, Michael Thurmond, however Barnes had previously made other supportive statements for Isakson. In the only debate for Georgia's U.S. Senate candidates, Chuck Donovan confronted his Democratic and Republican opponents, calling them, “two peas in the same pod.” Today Donovan added, “The two main parties have a long history of continued violation of natural rights, economic laws, and the Constitution. Kira Willis Libertarian Challenges Education Policy Makers
2010-10-29 22:35:00 Kira Willis Libertarian Challenges Education Policy Makers States policy makers should spend time in a school before making policy For Immediate Release ATLANTA, GA: Kira Willis today announces her challenge to the State Department of Education and educational policy makers. “Before anyone even thinks about a new mandate or rule or even a test for our kids, he or she must spend time in a classroom. I think that a week would be sufficient.” Willis, who champions accountability for everyone involved in education, has frequently stated that there are too many mandates passed down to our schools and our teachers by people who have spent no time in the schools or the classrooms. “I want for everyone in the State Department of Education and in policy to know what a day in the life of a teacher is like: what teachers do every day for our kids. When the policy makers and people in the DOE have done that, then they can talk about policy.”&n...

What is Casey Cagle hiding ?
2010-10-29 21:39:00 What is Casey Cagle hiding ? Libertarian candidate for Lieutenant Governor Dan Barber asks, "Where's the press coverage of the recent Open Records Requests made to incumbent Lieutenant Governor Republican Casey Cagle?" On October 18, two such requests were submitted to the Lieutenant Governor's office by Zaid Jilani. Both documents appear to refer to a recent incident involving an unnamed woman (whose name was redacted from the letters) that occurred in Cagle's office. Dan asks, "These documents were requested ten days ago. My question is, what's happened since then, and where's the media coverage?" Barber continues, "Georgia deserves more from our elected officials than Cagle's crony capitalism. Georgia deserves a free market and a regulatory system designed to attract business, not drive it offshore." Dan will debate these points and others with Cagle and Democrat Carol Porter during the Atlanta Press Club Debates on GPB Sunday night at 7:00. To learn more about Dan Barb...

2010-10-26 21:02:00 Libertarian Candidate Will Costa has strong showing! The race for Georgia’s next Labor Commissioner has become more a 3 way race. The Libertarian, Will Costa, had a better then expected showing in the October 17the Atlanta Press Club debate. Post debate focus groups and internal polling have reviled that Will Costa has surprisingly high support from Democrats, Republicans as well as Libertarians and Independents. Self proclaimed constitutional Republicans have expressed a high favorable score toward Costa. “Will is the only one seeking the Office of Labor Commissioner who really understands how an economy works” said one middle aged male from the Macon area. Democratic voters outside of metro Atlanta felt more comfortable with Costa then they did with their own parties nominee. “Mr. Costa reminds me of the old Georgia Democrats who stood up for us in North Georgia” according to a lady i... ATLANTA, GA – October 25, 2010 – Chuck Donovan, Libertarian candidate for U.S Senate from Georgia, participated last night in the only debate incumbent Republican Senator Johnny Isakson decided to include in his campaign schedule. The Atlanta Press Club-sponsored debate was televised live from the Georgia Public Broadcasting studios in Atlanta, and included Donovan, Isakson and Democratic nominee Michael Thurmond, Georgia’s outgoing Labor Commissioner. “Usually, campaign seasons feature five or more debates. This year there were only two scheduled,” Donovan said. “As if that weren’t bad enough, we learned only three days beforehand that Isakson had decided to skip last Thursday’s WSB debate. The Obama administration proudly touts the fact that it is deporting more undocumented aliens than George W. Austerity is the new black
2010-10-23 23:11:00 Austerity is the new black By Dan Barber The world watched Wednesday as the UK announced sweeping spending cuts to tackle its record-breaking debt UK Embraces Austerity. Why does this matter here? Because Europe is breaking ranks with Washington DC on this issue. For decades, Washington insiders have insisted that deficit spending by the government was the right response to recession – that this influx of cash would “prime the pump” and restart a sluggish economy. News flash – borrowed money doesn’t solve money problems. A 10-year-old can understand this. Why can’t our President? In reality, deficit spending burdens a weakened economy with ever-larger debt, at a time when taxpayers are already hurting. European nations have begun to understand this, and are implementing austerity plans one after another. Ten years from now, they may all be on solid fiscal ground again. Where will we be? That depends on how you vote in the upcoming election. If you still believe, des... More About: Black

2010-10-21 22:01:00 Rep. Kevin Levitas responds to the Libertarians and ask us to reconsider Amendment 1 As a libertarian I want people to recieve as much info as possible to make the best choice possible ( so i am posting this from Rep. Levitas) As your website post anticipates, I was truly surprised (and disappointed) about the Georgia Libertarians’ position on Amendment 1. Having had the pleasure of meeting with the DeKalb Libertarian Party over dinner some time ago, the state Party’s opposition on the most free-market, smaller-government proposal to come along in years left me scratching my head. Because of its mission to support freedom, individual liberty and personal responsibility, I urge the Party to reconsider its opposition to the Amendment. Employment agreements are private contracts between private parties. The freedom of these individuals to contract between themselves is an essential liberty of our American democracy. Freedom of contract supports the inherent right o...
Chuck Donovan attacks Johnny Isakson in his new radio ads
2010-10-18 22:21:00 For Immediate Release Chuck Donovan campaign announces new radio campaign ATLANTA, GA – October 18, 2010 – Chuck Donovan, Libertarian candidate for U.S Senate from Georgia, has released his first radio. This new radio ad will be in addition to the TV ad he has already aired. Donovan's radio advertising begins today on stations in Columbus, Macon, and Savannah. Additionally, the campaign will be filming another TV ad this week. Donovan is challenging the notion of “just voting”. “Voters need to know there is a viable third candidate. The old way of voting has not served us well. It’s time to vote smarter. We are in far too much economic trouble to get it wrong again in 2010.“ Donovan added, “For too long, Americans have been told to just get out and vote. That’s not good enough. However, this is no thanks to the Republican and Democratic parties. These parties have a history of disrespect for the rights of voters. They have both worked to deny the ability of independent and third party candidates to appear on the ballot. Through unreasonable ballot access requirements, including the "primary screenout" provision which denies many voters the petition opportunity to support having these choices on the ballot, they have presumed that they have the authority to limit the choice of voters. In this current election year they have used the threat of lawsuits and employed outside interests to manipulate the ballot (1). They have created gerrymandered voting districts under which... Neal Boortz and his entitlement politics - a letter to Republicans
2010-10-15 03:42:00 Neal Boortz and his entitlement politics – a letter to Republicans By Dan Neal Boortz recently made the statement that a vote for a Libertarian is a vote taken away from a Republican. He claims this is tantamount to handing victory to any Democrat in the race. He claims, therefore, that voting Libertarian is in effect the same thing as voting Democrat. He’s wrong. Here’s why. In the 2008 general election, the voters didn’t abandon the Republican Party. The Republican Party had already abandoned them decades ago. Long ago, Republicans abandoned even the pretense of fiscal conservatism and any regard for personal liberty. Voters simply walked away from a dead marriage. And now Neal Boortz is waving that marriage certificate under your nose. Claiming the Republicans are entitled to your vote simply because they are not Democrats. Well, that’s not good enough. Better than crappy still isn’t good. Why has the Tea Party gained so fast in popularity? Because they know wha... More About: Politics , Letter , Neal
Democrats, the Party of Big Brother
2010-10-14 17:55:00 Democrats, the Party of Big Brother AUSTIN, TEXAS - October 14, 2010 -- The Democratic Party portrays itself as advocates of civil liberties. Their state platform calls for "freedom from government interference in our private lives and personal decisions". It is clear that the actions of the people they elect do not match this empty rhetoric. The Democratic Party has had a history of assaulting civil liberties that they are sworn to protect. Their elected Texas representatives have overwhelmingly supported statewide smoking bans. They overwhelmingly support a ban on foods containing trans fat. They achieve fame by leading efforts to ban sexy cheerleading (1). In Congress, Democrats overwhelmingly supported the Patriot Act. 2010-10-13 17:26:00 Republicans, the Party of Deficit Spending AUSTIN, TEXAS - October 13, 2010 -- Under Republican control of Texas government the state budget faces an $18 billion debt. This comes as no surprise from a political party that governs itself the same way it governs Texas. A recent press release (1) from the Texas Republican Party reminded us that they currently carry a debt of $680,000 and have been in debt for over a decade. For all their talk about fiscal conservatism, Republicans walk away from their rhetoric once elected. From 1993 to 2003, under Democratic Party control of the Texas House of Representatives, state government spending grew about 6.1% per year. After Republicans took control of the House in 2003, state spending growth accelerated. From 2003 to 2009, state spending grew an average of 6.6% per year. LP Chair Mark Hinkle commented, "Few acts of Congress have evoked as much fear, ire, disgust, and disapproval from Americans as the 2008 TARP banker bailouts, passed with bipartisan support in Congress, and signed into law by Republican President George W. Bush." Hinkle continued, "Bailer-in-chief John McCain, who famously suspended his 2008 losing Republican presidential campaign to rush back to Washington DC to vote for TARP, tops our list. He'll face Libertarian Party co-founder David Nolan in November." The Libertarian Party is urging voters statewide to cast a "No" vote on each of the five proposed constitutional amendments, as well as the proposed referendum. In their recommendation release, Georgia Libertarians took a position on Amendment 1 that may surprise voters. Their position calls for a "No" vote, citing a stifling of marketplace expansion by enforcing employment contract clauses that prohibit former employees of a company to go to work for a competing firm or to start their own venture. They note that by protecting the interests of big business, by adding a barrier to entry into the marketplace, is not a s...

2010-09-30 02:52:00 John Jay Myers Campaign releases TV ad Tuesday September 21, 2010 Dallas, Texas The Libertarian campaign for John Jay Myers is releasing a very professional TV ad next week, which highlights the need to end the two party mindset.
