Anarchism, Age of Consent Laws and the Dallas Accord (Wayne Allyn Root)
2008-05-07 22:58:00
May 7, 2008 From the desk of Wayne Allyn Root : Anarchism , Age of Consent Laws and the Dallas Accord By Wayne Allyn Root, Candidate for the Libertarian Party Presidential Nomination Recently a controversy has arisen over statements Mary Ruwart made in her book Short Answers to the Tough Questions regarding the rights children possess.  The most salient quote on this subject is found on page 43 in her book: Children who willingly participate in sexual acts have the right to make that decision as well, even if it’s distasteful to us personally.  Some children will make poor choices just as some adults do in smoking and drinking to excess; this is part of life. And when given an opportunity to clarify her beliefs, Ms. Ruwart recently made it clear that she continues to be opposed to all age-of-consent laws, even in the case of pre-pubescent children.  In a May 1, 2008 prepared statement posted on her website she states: Dr. Ruwart did not elab...

George Phillies for President 2008FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*Should the Flag Lapel Pin Panic Grip America?**Worcester, Mass., May 2: *Libertarian Presidential candidate GeorgePhillies today spoke out on the national flag lapel pin crisis. "MostAmericans never noticed there was a flag lapel pin crisis, not afterthousands of our men and women died in Iraq and the budget deficit headedfor $500 billion a year. Fortunately, moderators at a recent DemocraticPresidential debate cleared things up, at least for people worried aboutjobs, plummeting real estate prices, soaring gasoline prices, andskyrocketing food and medical costs, not to mention the sad state ofeducation. Most of us would never have guessed that the flag lapel pincrisis is more important."I respect our flag," Phillies said. "That means I don't use it as costumejewelry. In fact, I almost never wear lapel pins. Why? By geographicadoption, I'm a Yankee. We Yankees know thrift is a virtue. Every time youstick a pin through your sui...

Bob Barr press release
2008-05-06 09:55:00
Dear Friend, What a week! Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have continued to duke it out over the Democratic Party nomination in North Carolina and Indiana, making for great TV of little substance. Meanwhile, John McCain parades around his presumptive "nomination" and ignores our friend Dr. Paul, who is working tirelessly to win over delegates and continues to garner support. Ron's grassroots success with 15% of the vote in the Pennsylvania primary is proof that America is eager for the message of Liberty.Bob and our team of volunteers are hard at work to deliver it to them! We invite you to check out and spread our new series of videos featuring Bob speaking to the real concerns facing our country: taxes, the economy, civil liberties, and the need for limited government. These are powerful statements from an experienced leader ready to shake up establishment politics. Bob also talks about his departure from the GOP and why he has worked tirelessly over the past two years for the L...

How LP Pres. Candidates Qualify to Participate at LP National Convention CS
2008-04-29 21:07:00
I write this since it seems many Libertarians are unaware of the criteria which will be used to determine which LP Presidential candidates will be able to participate in the CSPAN debate held at the LP National Covention in Denver this May. I am attaching a letter (below) from LP Executive Director Shane Cory which explains the criteria. Over the past two weeks, I have received several inquiries from Libertarians concerned about how a presidential candidate "qualifies" to participate at the National LP Convention in Denver and/or "qualifies" to participate in the CSPAN debate. Several of you are concerned about the "Liberty Decides" program and whether that has anything to with qualifying as a candidate to participate - it does not. I write this letter to clarify it, since so many are asking about this. It is my understanding, participation in the CSPAN debate is dependent on a candidate receiving between 70-106 tokens from delegates before Saturday morning at the Convention. Every ...

When they go home, these same foreign students who came to America for undergraduate andadvanced degrees will become powerful ambassadors for liberty."Phillies recalled 1991, when some of the first Russian graduate studentscame to his own university. "To help them acclimate to America," he said,"We took them to the local supermarket. Their jaws would drop. Later theytold me, 'I saw that, and I knew Russia had lost the cold war'.""That's the benefit of bringing students to America," Phillies said. 2008-04-27 17:09:00
Dear Shane & Andrew , I appreciated your press release "Libertarians call for increased communication to combat child pornography." http://www.lp.org/media/article_578.shtml  Your press release was powerful in that it illustrates how libertarians can lead government (and society) into a more libertarian direction by using such controversial issues to express a better approach. You correctly balanced your statement condoning the need for greater communication between law enforcement agencies while simultaneously focusing upon protection of privacy rights. Further, you elucidated a clear libertarian perspective contrasting victim-less crimes (and the enormous resources wasted on them) versus real crimes such as those in which the the individual rights of the life and liberty of , in this case, children, are at stake. Thank you for having the courage to express a libertarian perspective on such a matter and for defending the integrity of the LP on this issue. The last thing our ...

Bob Barr on the front page of the Atlanta Journal

When was the last time a Libertarian candidate made the front page of a major news paper?    This is one of the reasons why Barr needs to be our candidate in the Libertarian party.  Here is the article  also here is a link  www.ajc.comBarr's campaign for White House taking shapeBy JILL VEJNOSKAPublished on: 04/26/08 There's not a bit of bunting in sight. George Phillies for President 2008FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*Phillies Condemns Chinese Genocide Campaign Against Tibet **Seattle, Wash., April 20*: Libertarian Presidential candidate GeorgePhillies today condemned the Communist Chinese government's efforts todestroy the Tibetan culture. "By encouraging Chinese citizens to move toTibet," Phillies noted, "the Chinese government has made the Tibetan peoplea minority in their own cities. In the long run, Chinese Communist planswould reduce Tibetan culture to a high-altitude tourist attraction. It ishardly surprising that the Tibetan people are, for better or worse, risingup against Chinese efforts to destroy Tibet. I cheer for the Tibetan people, and wish them well in their struggle to regain independence and safety fortheir culture.""Lamentably, it is very difficult for Americans to influence the atrociousbehavior of the Chinese government, which it has shown over the past fivedecades," Phillies noted.  Interview with Bob Barr on the Crazy for Liberty Show. We did the interview this past Sunday. I believe Bob Barr was getting aggravated with my questions. I ask about the Dep. of education ,flag burning, fair tax and Gay marriage .  I like Bob Barr and would like to him get the nomination. I would like to see Ruwart get the V.P. nod. Libertarian convention of Alabama The Libertarian Party of Alabama Convention will be held this weekend at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) in Birmingham . Crazy for Liberty's interview with Mike Gravel
2008-04-16 22:14:00
This past Sunday Garrett Hayes and myself interviewed Mike Gravel . We talked about gun rights ,nuclear power, fair tax and democracy. After the interview I am now less likely to vote for Mike Gravel in any form. I thought it would be nice to have him on the ticket with Barr or someone else (maybe Ruwart or Phillies) but after the interview i know say NO. I am not sure what you guys think of democracy. I think it sucks. It is two wolves and a sheep voting on what is for dinner, it is also 3 white farmers and a black guy voting on who is going to pick the cotton. Mike Gravel loves democracy and democracy is dangerous. At this point I would like a Bob Barr /Ruwart ticket but I could live with a Ruwart/ Phillies ticket. I do believe the party will get more coverage with Barr as the front man. I also believe Ruwart would get more interviews as the VP candidate behind Barr than if she was the front man. We would be more likely to have her views get out because the buz...

I also have anall-vacuum hose cleaner, not to mention my little floor brushing robot. They run in very different ways, but they have one thing in common: They'reall vacuum cleaners. They all transfer dust from the floor to a holder."Your federal taxes are a lot like my vacuum cleaners. They run on verydifferent principles, but they all do the same thing: They transfer moneyfrom your wallet to the Treasury. The fine details may differ, but in theend every tax leaves you with less money in your wallet."We've all heard vacuum spin artists who want to sell you new and differentvacuum cleaners. In NJ U.S. Citizens Are Twice As Likely To Land In Prison As Legal And Illegal Immigrants Here is the link  http://www.njlibertariannews.com/ if you have a blog please add them to your blog rollA study has come out showing that in NJ U.S. citizens are twice as likely to land in prison as legal and illegal immigrants. The liberals have been using this as a counter to the conservative argument that illegal immigration increases crime. In this case both sides are wrong. First of all if you are an illegal immigrant then you have already broken the law and are a criminal which cancels out the liberal argument. Secondly the conservatives have been focusing on a faulty argument when the real issue is that illegal immigrants are draining services that are paid with taxes collected from legal immigrants and US citizens.BlueJersey, a liberal blog, stated this on their site: "Contrary to what the Donald Cresitellos of the state would have you believe, citizens are twice as likely ...

Barr Polling 7% in Potential Presidential BidApril 11th, 2008 by Staff Atlanta, GA - In a survey commissioned last week by the Bob Barr 2008 Presidential Exploratory Committee, seven percent of likely voters responded that they would vote for the former Georgia congressman for president if he were on the ballot in November.  Shortly after Ross Perot announced he was re-entering the presidential race in October 1992, he polled at seven percent.  Barr is considering whether to seek the nomination of the Libertarian Party for president. According to the latest poll, Barr enjoys 36 percent name recognition.  When questions were asked reminding voters about Barr’s role in the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton, and about the reasons why Barr left the Republican Party to join the Libertarian Party, Barr’s seven percent rose to nine percent against Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain.  He polled at eleven percent against Hillary Clinton and John McCain. R...

Here is a questionnaire which I submitted to all of the Libertarian candidates for president for whom I have email addresses at the end of December, to Mary Ruwart several days ago and to Michael Badnarik today after I watched him as the expert questioner during the Pennsylvania/New Jersey LP Convention Debate among nine Libertarian candidates for president. I added Question 40. Do you support Restore 04? (see www.restore04.com) at the beginning of January. As of now, Steve Kubby, Christine Smith and Barry Hess have endorsed Restore 04. So far Jim Burns, Alden Link and George Phillies have answered the questionnaire, partially in Dr. Phillies' case. Question 1 is probably no longer relevant. However, I believe that the remainder of this questionnaire covers most issues which should arise during the campaign. LIBERTARIAN PRESIDENTIAL QUESTIONNAIRE 1.
