Update Steve kubby's campaign
2008-02-11 17:00:00
Letter I recieved from Steve KubbyDear friends and fellow Libertarians,This weekend, US Representative Ron Paul announced his intention to"scale back" his campaign for the Republican Party's 2008 presidentialnomination, acknowledged that he is unlikely to win that nomination, and expressly ruled out seeking the nomination of the LibertarianParty or another "third" party. As you are probably aware, I endorsed Dr. Paul's GOP presidentialcampaign, and promised to end my own Libertarian presidentialcandidacy if that campaign was successful. Many of you disagreed withthat decision for various reasons -- reasons which I understand andsympathize with.Be that as it may, I felt compelled to back the play of the vastmajority of my fellow libertarians and Libertarians who, like me, sawin Dr. Paul's campaign a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to advancefreedom. While I certainly have my disagreements with Dr. Paul, I sawno point in putting myself forward as willing to split "the freedomvote...

McCain Coronation Sounds Death Knell for GOP
2008-02-09 23:07:00
Anointing McCain is clearly a major and violent spasm in the death throes of the Republican party.♣ Friday, February 8th As I walked my California precinct last week talking to likely Republican voters, there was a strong response that I received time and again: "Not John McCain!" There were several who emoted audibly as to their distaste for the man and his liberal history in the senate. However, it is now quite evident that the GOP power brokers have chosen to elevate McCain as the anointed nominee, over the vehement protestations of major party pundits like Rush Limbaugh and evangelical leaders like James Dobson. Reports continue to filter in from around the country of what are, at the very very least, highly suspicious circumstances. Mitt Romney's precipitous announcement yesterday that he was stepping down was a very strong indicator of behind-the-scenes maneuvering. This could not have been more evident in his transparently disingenuous speech endorsing ...

Where I Stand by Christine Smith
2008-02-08 12:55:00
One libertarian's views/opinions on domestic & international issues.I am a libertarian. I am a firm believer in individual liberty, personal responsibility, free markets, and always a small government limited only to its constitutionally authorized functions - the principles our nation was founded upon and which once made us both great and greatly admired worldwide. Our nation achieved that greatness and respect, and we reaped the fruits of our labor because we lived in a society that welcomed innovation, creativity, and self-reliance. We didn't look to a government to care for us or protect us, we looked to ourselves - and it worked! And you know what? It will still work - if we return to the values we as a people once cherished. I believe you - far better than a government bureaucrat - can best spend your money to benefit you and your family. I don't think you need government bureaucrats to make economic and social decisions for you. I trust you can do a much better job for...

Ron Paul delegate count now at 42
2008-02-06 21:41:00
Ron Paul National Delegate Count Now 42 or More FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 6, 2008 ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – With the results of many of the “Super Tuesday” primaries and caucuses now finalized, the Ron Paul campaign is now projecting that it has at least 42 delegates to the national convention secured. While much of the focus in yesterday’s Super Tuesday contests focused on preference poll numbers, Ron Paul caucus-goers were focused on securing delegates to the national convention. With dedicated supporters and an organization focused purely on securing delegates, the campaign has secured more delegates to the national convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul than caucus straw polls might otherwise suggest. According to campaign projections, a minimum of 24 delegates were won in yesterday’s contests. When added to projected delegates coming from strong showings in Iowa (4), Nevada (8), Louisiana (3) and Maine (3), that brings the total delegate count to 42 delega...

Our Team placed 4th out of 159. I live in Griffin Georgia, It is a small milltown (no mills anymore). It is a great place to raise a family. It is not a hot bed for Libertarians or Liberty lovers. The Hopelessly Enslaved - Awake !by Christine Smith, Jan. 26, 2008I received quite a few responses to my recent (Jan. 23) opinion piece "Abolish the Federal Income Tax and replace With Nothing," all in support of my conclusions, but several also expressing reservations whether the American people are ready or willing to embrace such liberty. Thus, I offer this response to those of you who favor incremental steps versus my resolve that we must focus on the major issue of setting our sights and our work on achieving the main goal - not resign oneself to possible small incremental steps just because so many aren't yet aware of the message and facts. On the contrary, this means all the more, we should strongly shine the light of liberty for all...because each time you do, more blinders come off and people see. Granted, the socialist mentality is inbred in generation after generation thanks to government schools which raise our youth to be good little slaves - obedient to social conformi...

Courage! by Christine Smith
2008-01-24 14:51:00
Courage by Christine Smith (Jan. 12, 2008)To follow one's heart, to bring one's values into the world in hopes of making it better, requires an integrity and strength of character my greatest respect and admiration is reserved for. Such courage is a rare virtue. I recently viewed two films which really touched me, and both of which I highly recommend. Based upon two actual individuals, the films have motivated me to further research these individuals (since books provide so much more than a film story based on someone's life), and my recent viewing of said films has found me pondering courage - or should I say sadly- the lack thereof in people today. The first film, Amazing Grace, was based on the story of William Wilberforce who was the pioneer behind ending slavery in the British Empire. Here was a young man in Parliament, torn between pursuing a monastic life or continuing in politics. He struggled to make a ch...
Abolish the Federal Income Tax and Replace with Nothing by Christine Smith
2008-01-24 14:48:00
Abolish the Federal Income Tax and Replace with NothingOpinion Piece by Christine Smith , Jan. 23, 2008The federal income tax and the IRS must be abolished - and replaced with nothing. This can and must be done if we are ever to experience liberty in our personal and economic lives. I ask you, what federal program or federal agency is so important to you that you would prefer to keep on paying the abominable income tax? Allowing the federal government to extort your hard earned money gives them great power over your life, and it results into the numerous oppressive intrusions of all manner of federal programs and unjust operations worldwide, combined with the taking away of the money you worked for and for which you far better than some government bureaucrat could choose to spend as you wish for yourself and family. Some suggest a giant sales tax or flat tax, but all that does is rearrange your tax burden and how you pay it. The fact is, abolishing unconstitutional federal programs re...

I took this from the site www.lagop.comIt looks Like Ron Paul took second place.January 23, 2008 Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger F. Villere, Jr. today announced the preliminary results of delegate elections held at GOP caucuses across the state on Tuesday evening. More than 10,000 Republican voters met at 11 locations around Louisiana to choose delegates to the 2008 Louisiana Republican Convention, which will elect nearly all of Louisiana's delegates to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. "Preliminary results show that a majority of the 105 state convention delegates who have been elected ran on a statewide pro-life uncommitted slate," Villere said. "I congratulate the candidates and supporters of this group on their victory and look forward to working with them to keep our Party platform pro-life at the state and national conventions," he said. Delegate candidates endorsed by US Senator John McCain (R-AZ) appear to have won more state...

January 22, 2008 Yesterday, you raised over $1.85 million for Ron Paul . Congratulations, and thank you so much! It's been a great few days to be a supporter of Ron Paul, and not only because of the successful fundraising day or our great second-place showing in Nevada. On the endorsement front, Ron Paul has won the support of three significant public figures in the last two days. Yesterday, former New Mexico Governor Gary "Veto" Johnson announced that he is supporting Dr. Paul for president. Governor Johnson is an icon to small-government conservatives and libertarians for his long-standing commitment to the principles of the Founders. You can read our press release here. This morning, Ron Paul also received the glowing endorsement of Donald L. Luskin, a prominent financial commentator on CNBC and Chief Investment Officer for Trend Macrolytics LLC. Ron Paul comes in Second In Nevada CNN reporting Ron Paul came in second place in Nevada. You can view the results here. I know only 98% is reported but the math is against McCain to jump him. The great thing Ron Paul will get 4 more delegates from this. I believe this puts him at 6. I do not believe the MSM will give him his due but thats O.K.. The fight marches on. For those who have not sign up to be a delegate for their state party please do. If you have not or do not know how go to www.ronpaul2008.com there is a link there to walk you through it.My understanding is if this a brokered convention you will have to vote the way your state did the first two votes. You can then support someone else.At this point it could be history in the making and you could be part of it. Everyone please enjoy how Ron Paul did tonight and do not forget that monday is another money bomb. Please give if you can. A great day in Georgia for our Ron Paul Meetup Group
2008-01-12 20:31:00
Sign Waiving In Griffin Georgia Man I had a great day in griffin working on the Ron Paul campaign. We had 30 people show up for the sign waiving. We had homemade signs, yard signs and a couple of 4 x 8 signs. We had a couple of guys going into the traffic giving out pamphlets. We had a video crew and the local newspaper reporter show up.We are suppose to be in the paper tomorrow. Again it was great because I was worried that the Ron Paul campaign could hurt the freedom movement but I WAS WRONG. A few weeks back I decided I would get active in the local meet up group to help Ron Paul. When I showed everyone was great I mean the people were awesome. They that it was cool I was the past political director in Georgia for the Lp. They started asking tons of questions. Some about campaigns I had worked on and a lot about Libertarianism. If we as Libertarian were smart we would get out and work with these folks. Most have never been involved with politics and t...
