2012-01-20 17:13:00 January 20, 2012Dear GCO Member,The General Assembly will be not meeting until next Monday, January 23 (Day 6). We have updated the status of all gun bills that have been introduced in both chambers here on the GCO website. Current bills in the House from last year are SB26, SB98, and SB102 still have no committee meeting dates assigned. These bills have already passed the Senate and are awaiting a hearing in their assigned committees. None of these bills came to the House in the form we would like to see finalized and we will be working with the legislators to get them changed. You will notice that there are two new bills that have been filed since the last update, one in the House and one in the Senate. SB301 will allow suppressors/silencers to be used on hunting rifles when hunting game. GCO strongly supports this bill. In 2007, we arrested almost as many people for drug-related offenses that live in Alaska and Hawaii, making up as much as 13% of all arrests nationwide.
