Commentary by Orion Karl Daley
2007-03-09 03:48:00
In response to Mitt Romney's Speech at CPAC on March 2, 2007 It is always good to listen with an open ear when hearing an Election 2008 candidate speak. I listened to Mitt Romney at CPAC via C-Span. I continued to listen with a 3rd ear. In other words, what is he saying besides in getting to exercise his presentation skills of Shock and Awe? He left me with many outstanding questions, and in particular, ' What is True Conservatism'? Mitt spoke about having a Strong Defense, Strong Economy, and about some of his personal beliefs on gay marriages and pro life. It appeared that for him, this was the position of the true conservative ! In fairness, I continued to listen as wanting to understand what he meant by a Strong Defense, and Strong Economy firstly. I waited to hear something more about this, but did not hear any thing – So were these just 'touch points' of some sort where he would provide some detail sometime later? About 'A Strong Defense': So what did Mitt mean by thi...

Barack Obama Receives Warm Welcome in Cleveland, Ohio
2007-03-06 00:42:00
Barack Obama Receives Warm Welcome in Cleveland, Ohio By Jeremy Donley(First I'd like to thank Daniel for allowing me to contribute to the Politics One blog. I'd also like to inform readers that this is my personal account of my experience at the event. I may not get every single little detail or quotation absolutely correct, so please bear with me. Also note that when I provide quotations they may or may not have occurred chronologically.)On the 26th of February I attended Illinois Senator Barack Obama's campaign rally at Cuyahoga Community College, in Cleveland, Ohio. I signed up and received my e-ticket a week before the event. I had seen the Senator speak on television, read a bit about his personal history, researched his positions on issues, and as a progressive Democrat I was fascinated. Excited. He seemed like a fresh, effective politician. One that might do great things for the U.S. if elected President in 2008.Since I am only 16 years of age and do not yet have a driver...

2007-03-03 18:01:00
Elaine Brown who was long speculated to make a 2008 Whitehouse run has finally announced her candidacy for President for the Green Party Nomination. Brown is one of 4 seeking the Party Nomination. Elaine Brown, Nan Garrett, Robert Milnes, and Kat Swift have done much to enforce their run for President already.Congressman Mike Pence who is the guest speaker at the CPAC has been talked about as becoming the 2008 Presidential Candidate. Instead his spokesman hinted on him being more of the VP guy and then running for President in the near future, however he has not ruled out an 08 run.Al Gore won a big score with his Oscar Winning Documentary. Gore has still stated though that he does not plan on running in 2008. But dont look for him to cancle out politics alltogether.

2008 Update (Democrat Party)
2007-02-28 20:09:00
Democrat Part y :The Democratic Party has had the most media attention given to its candidates than any other political party for President in 2008. So far there are 8 Candidates Running (excluding "minor" candidates) on the Democratic Party.Joe Biden- Official CandidateHillary Clinton- Official CandidateChris Dodd- Official CandidateJohn Edwards- Official CandidateMike Gravel- Official CandidateDennis Kucinich- Official CandidateBarack Obama- Official CandidateBill Richardson- Exploratory CommitteeThere have been more State Legislators to go for Republican Party Candidates but the Democratic State Legislators have done a little. Many have jumped on the Clinton boat as well the Obama, Edwards, and Biden. Chris Dodd is gaining state support but not as much as hoped for.Joe Biden has been keeping it smooth since the incident with the remarks made about Obama. Biden said he meant nothing negative by it. Biden has been doing much on the campaign trail including being one of the major Sena...

Gravel Gaining Momentum
2007-02-27 03:13:00
Fmr. US Senator from Alaska Mike Grave l (D) is gaining momentum around the nation! Gravel who will be 77 in May was looked at being a longshot in the 2008 Democrat Nomination Process. But with Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama already slinging mud be looking for another front runner to emerge. Gravel has been doing many updates on his Campaign Website like addressing major issues such as the War in Iraq, Education, Social Security, Health Care and Oil Effiency.Gravel was the first Democrat to announce his run for President in 2006. Gravel has not been given as much media attention but something we have all learned from the past is that the media def. does not control the elections.

McCain gets another Endorsement
2007-02-27 03:10:00
Virginia US Senator John Warner (R) has chosen not to support his State's Former Governor Jim Gilmore for President but instead has chosen to throw his support publicly for John McCain of Arizona. Warner said that come 2008 America will need someone who can deal with the large amounts of threat and termoil that is going on around the world from terroists. Warner said that McCain is the only one who can accomplish that. This makes just another major endorsement from the deep south that McCain has gotten.

Ron Paul Endorsed by Badnarik
2007-02-26 21:35:00
Republican Presidential Hopeful Ron Paul (R-TX) was endorsed last week by 2004 Libertarian Party Nominee Michael Badnarik. Badnarik said although he is switching parties to support Ron Paul he hopes that Ron Paul will also be the 2008 Libertarian Nominee like he was in 1988. Badnarik withdrew his name as a Possible 08 Candidate many months ago and said he would support the best candidate and clearly he thinks Ron Paul is the best.
Pro-Choice Republicans and their Anti-Abortion Support
2007-02-25 22:10:00
There are a few Conservatives in the race for President on the Republican Party that are conservative but according to polls have no shot at winning the nomination. Pro-Choice, Pro-Gays & Anti-War Republicans seem to be the "front runners" in the GOP Nomination Process. Sam Brownback, Tom Tancredo, and Duncan Hunter are amoung those who still stay with the GOP Roots. That is anti-abortion, anti-civil unions and gay marriage, and a hawkish stance on the war. Brownback had much support from Christian Right Activists for awhile but that support is gone as the majority of Christian Rights Activists have thrown their support behind Mitt Romney. Many State Legislators looked at Hunter as the only Strong Candidate from the "outside" that could take on any Democrat Challenger. But many state legislators have thrown their support behind John McCain.Anti-Abortion Activists have thrown their support to Rudy Giuliani a Pro-Choice Candidate. Christian Rights Activists and Preachers have thrown t...

Interview with George Phillies (L)
2007-01-17 06:48:00
1) Why are you running for President? My primary campaign objective is to give the Libertarian Party a strong, effective Presidential campaign. My campaign will spend its money well, develop our stocks of volunteer labor, and campaign with lower-level candidates with better chances of winning. What do I mean by "effective?" An effective campaign will leave the party much stronger when the campaign is over than the party was when the campaign started. An effective campaign will strengthen local and state parties across the country, giving us state and local groups where previously there were none. An effective campaign will find tens of thousands of Americans who are already Libertarians, but they don't know it, and recruit them into our party. An effective campaign will spread the Libertarian message of liberty, prosperity, and opportunity to three hundred million Americans.2) Why are you different from your opponents? There are close to a dozen people running for the Libertarian Pres...

States Rights
2006-12-07 04:34:02
Today is Aron Milberg who will be speaking about his position on Stat e s Right s . Aron also has a blog and I encourage everyone of my viewers to check it out www.aronm.net:A concept, or buzzword that is commonly thrown around in modern politics today is the idea of "States Rights." Let me make this clear, the idea of any organization having rights is preposterous, and no organization has more legitimate right to take away individual liberty than another, regardless of whether it is a state or federal institution. The most misused example of an abdication of States Rights is during the Civil War, dealing with slavery. Slavery is not the right of a state to impose, no human may be owned by another human, and a state has no legitimate force to do so. The true problem with the union was their abuse of individual rights and liberties, which people often do not understand, and use states rights instead. The states had no right to slavery, but the union, specifically Abe Lincoln, had no right...
Newer Poll, Clinton Still Not In
2006-12-06 04:33:03
Last Week Politics One On One Asked Republicans and Democrats who they would support in 08? The Republicans chose John Cox and the Democrats chose Chris Dodd. This Week the Republicans again chose John Cox but the Democrats went with Tom Vilsack this time. Evan Bayah has been added to this week's poll since he has announced that he will file papers this week. Hillary Clint on has been actively campaigning but has neither announced, filed paperwork or an exploratory committee which is why she is not on the poll. Remember I only have people who are actually running at this time on the poll. You can vote by clicking on the Cast Your Vote Button at the top right hand corner of your screen. Thank again for stopping by and remember This is Blog Where REAL Politics are discussed!
