He Said What?
2008-05-07 16:34:00
Quote of the day goes to PFC Greg Smith, 21, of Northboro, Massachusetts, who was explaining why the potential ban of porn from base is a bad idea. “Playboy is good entertainment while you are on the can,” he told Military.com. Nice. Send post as PDF to

Houston Chronicle Calls ER?s Name ?Evocative?
2008-05-06 19:37:00
Now this amuses me. “There’s nothing I love better than a clever blog name,” says Dwight Silverman, tech columnist for the Houston Chronicle. Euphoric Reality made his list of favorite blog names–with the following caveat: “I’m not quite sure what [the blog name] has to do with the war on terror, Iraq or immigration issues, but it’s ...

Abu Ghraib ex-detainee files ?torture? lawsuit against US military contract
2008-05-06 18:39:00
More idiocy. This is what we are breeding–the day when a terrorist can sue because he didn’t like the way he was treated. A former Iraqi detainee filed a lawsuit against two private US military contractors Monday alleging that he was tortured tortured while held at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq in 2003, according to ...

Get the Needles Ready? We?re Back in Business
2008-05-06 14:09:00
William Earl Lynd, 53, is slated to die tonight at 1900 hours. He’ll be the first inmate executed since the Supreme Court ruled that lethal injection was not cruel and unusual punishment. How anyone could think it is, is beyond me. Then again, personally I prefer the electric chair. At any rate, the U.S. is finally ...

Obama Can?t Crawl Out From Under His BigAzz ?Pastor?
2008-05-05 20:33:00
Apparently it took a poll to tell the Washington Post that Obama rama’s chances of having an intern under the desk in the Oval Office went down faster than Monica after his “pastor” Jeremiah Wright went all crazy on TV. In other words, it took a poll to tell the Post something any untrained monkey could have ...

Help For Parents Who Fight Over Which Gang Their Baby Should Belong To
2008-05-05 02:13:00
I have officially heard it all. On Saturday, Joseph Manzanares stormed into the Hollywood Video store where his girlfriend worked, threatened to kill her and knocked over several video displays and even a computer, Commerce City police Sgt. Joe Sandoval said. After he ran out of the store, police were called and the 19-year-old was arrested at his home. His girlfriend told police that they had been arguing about the upbringing of their son and which gang he should belong to. The teen mother, who is black, is a member of the Crips. Manzanares is Hispanic and belongs to the Westside Ballers gang, the woman said.”They have different ideas on how the baby should be raised. Basically, she said they cannot agree on which gang the baby would ‘claim,’” Sandoval said. Whoa, there.  What’s crackalackin’? Well, Mr. Joseph Manzanares, I realize that these domestic arguments can be really frustrating.  However, might I suggest a few pointers to help you and ...

Army Soldier to Receive Medal of Honor
2008-05-02 20:33:00
From Army Times: On Dec. 4, 2006, [Spc Ross] McGinnis was manning the turret in the last Humvee of a six-vehicle patrol in Adhamiyah in northeast Baghdad when an insurgent threw a grenade from the roof of a nearby building. “Grenade!” yelled McGinnis, who was manning the vehicle’s M2 .50-caliber machine gun. McGinnis, facing backwards because he was in the rear vehicle, tried to deflect the grenade but it fell into the Humvee and lodged between the radios. As he stood up to get ready to jump out of the vehicle, as he had been trained to do, McGinnis realized the other four soldiers in the Humvee did not know where the grenade had landed and did not have enough time to escape. McGinnis, a native of Knox, Pa., threw his back against the radio mount, where the grenade was lodged, and smothered the explosive with his body. The grenade exploded, hitting McGinnis on his sides and lower back, under his vest. He was killed instantly. The other four men survived. From Blackfive, a...

A Word About Casualties and Proportion
2008-05-01 16:37:00
Much has been made about the media’s grisly casualty benchmarks. They feel the need to point out every time we reach another thousand troops killed, even though it takes months for this to happen. It’s been said before, but the bottom line–still–is that casualties in the Iraq War are nowhere near that of previous wars. ...

Ann Coulter is a Goddess?
2008-05-01 15:10:00
…at least this week she is. With her sarcastic wit and ease at finding the holes in her opponent’s argument, Coulter was at her best yesterday while hoisting Obama ’s nutjob “pastor” Rev. Wright on his own racist petard. Wright’s been complaining that everyone’s taking him “out of context.” Coulter takes that and runs with ...

Military Judge Narrows Issues in Chessani Court-Martial; Trial Moved to Jun
2008-04-29 16:38:00
In what is perhaps the most asinine travesty of justice I’ve seen in quite some time, the judge presiding over Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani’s court-martial in the Haditha case has, in the immortal slang of some of my friends, “stepped on his crank.” Amid the flurry of arguments in the hearing on several motions earlier in ...
