William beat me to it. Having a wack-job relative is one thing. Having a racist pastor for 20 years is quite another, especially if that racist pastor uses his pulpit to preach not the Christian Gospel, but rather the politics of race hatred. I would have trouble believing that he never said things like this before Obama started running for president. I do agree with Guns though. If Barry had said “Yeah, he is a bit of a nut and goes off the deep end from time to time, but in general he is a good guy, besides, I like the choir at that church.” It would have defused the whole thing. But he didn’t. Rather he went on his rant extolling the politics of victimhood, and went so far as to claim that just about all of us are victims. The guy is nothing but one big sound bite. Wright is NOT Obama ’s uncle! Comparing him to real (nutt) relatives is disengenuous at best. As bad as Obama saying, in effect ,that Wrights’s views and his mother’s views are comparable. You can’t choose your relatives, but you do choose your minister. It seems to me obama CHOSE Wright because it helped his political career in Chicago. I would have a lot more respect for Obama if he had said right up front - “I chose this church and this guy as my minister, even though I don’t believe the same, because it jump started my political career. Those views are not mine.”
