Can Bob Barr Damage John McCain?
2008-05-27 18:21:00 OR IS IT SOMETHING ELSE?Is Bob Barr ’s Libertarian Party nomination the Kiss of Death for John McCain’s Presidential efforts or is the impact of his nomination greatly exaggerated? I’m beginning to wonder if it might just be the latter. In 2004, Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik pulled in less than 400,000 nationally. Granted Badnarik was a poor candidate. That same year, Constitution Party candidate Michael Peroutka did a little less than 150,000 votes. Ralph Nader came in third with about 465,000 votes. In 2000 the combined candidacies of Pat Buchanan (Reform), Harry Browne (Libertarian) and Howard Phillips (Constitution) brought in ... More About: John McCain , Damage
Untitled - Exactly How I Feel Today!
2008-05-27 07:50:00 MONDAY, MAY 26I was quite ambitious when I started working this morning. It did not last long. I ended up having a nice long nap- most sleep I’ve had in 6 weeks! I’ve not done a Memorial Day spew. I was going to, and was sidetracked by other things beyond my control. This has been a weird weekend, full of medial traumas. The third occurred this afternoon. My cousin, Jim Reidhead’s leukemia has returned. He needs a bone marrow transplant in the next couple of weeks. Please keep him in your prayers. My sister is feeling better today, but ... Today's Obama-O-Rama
2008-05-27 07:30:00 CHANGE YOU CAN BANK ON? Is Obama ’s Cash Cow Wrecking FEC? He could still end up in some very deep do do by manipulating the International Church of Christ’s non profit status. The Pink Flamingo has been hinting at this for some time. Grizzly Groundswell has more! “…The fact that Obama said this after promising explicitly that no campaign-related activity would take place during his appearance at the United Church of Christ shows that he doesn’t have much of a conscience at all. Obama’s conduct reminds us of a caller to a talk radio show who, after indicating ... More About: Today
Events Have Unintended Consequences, Even Natural Ones
2008-05-27 07:28:00 THE CHINA SYNDROMEI think maybe we’ve not paid enough attention to the deadly earthquake that hit China a few weeks ago. It has the potential to be China’s Katrina, in more ways in one. It is entirely possible this quake will end up shaking more than the earth. It could be a pre-curser to an entire societal evolution. One telling aspect is the way the media was allowed to cover the quake. The Wall Street Journal“…But China's new generation of metropolitan newspapers, current affairs magazines and Internet media have all reported on the quake with an intensity and ... Please Forgive My Arrogance & Lack of Christian Behavior
2008-05-26 20:35:00 SHOWERS OF BLESSING4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, ... The Kitten Died This Afternoon
2008-05-26 07:50:00 SUNDAY, MAY 25The kitten was doing quite well. Her adoptive parents went out for lunch and found her. She had died in the litter box, trying to get out. It was quite sad. She was adapting. Her diarrhea was starting to solidify. She was eating. The odd thing is ALL of my carport kitties have disappeared. I’m furious. I’m afraid something has happened to them. I just noticed that most of the Meow Mix has been eaten. Maybe Kay is right, there’s so much activity here, they are just scared. FAMILY MEDICAL TRAUMASRachel (my niece) finally called. ... Is The Problem Gas/Oil Prices, Environmentalists, or Lobbyists
2008-05-26 07:40:00 OR COWARDLY PROSTITUTES POLITICIANS?Faultline has one of the best pieces I’ve seen on gas prices. I’d probably only link to it in the evening, but it brings up something I was going to write about yesterday but was sidetracked. Mentioned is the fact that travel is lighter than usual this Memorial Day. Where I am in New Mexico I WISH! Traffic is not down. Fact is, things are booming a little in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico when it comes to oil. There is so much money flying around here it is annoying. Yesterday I went in town ... A Day of Miracles
2008-05-25 07:49:00 SATURDAY, MAY 24Early this morning, around 1AM Memphis time my niece was a passenger in a car that was broadsided head-on at an intersection. It flipped over and rolled, ending up on its roof. Laura’s leg went through the window, severing the femoral artery. By the time EMS arrived on scene she was in and out of consciousness. By the time my sister arrived at the ER they told her it was extremely bad. She lost quite a bit of blood. 27 stitches later Laura is home, hopped up on pain pills, holding court with her friends. (She just ... More About: Miracles
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gallows
2008-05-25 07:37:00 STICKS AND STONESThis evening after a long cooking session (nothing caught on fire or exploded, FYI) I sat down to start working on a couple of articles about Sarah Palin. My inbox was being accosted by requests for me to remove blogs from the I Vote the Elephant blogroll, to protest yours truly. First things first, I don't know what is the big deal about any blogroll. I know the requests were intended to insult, which is fine. To each their own. But to me a blog roll is no big deal. The world does not begin or end ... More About: Funny , Thing , Gallows
Why Does Barack Obama Want to Decimate Our Military
2008-05-24 22:16:00 AN AGENDA OF LIESIs Barack Obama on drugs? The other day Jack Wheeler sent out an email saying Obama was on drugs. My first reaction, since I think Wheeler is a crock and a fraud is just that. Atlas Shrugs has put together some additional information. Again- this is a for what it's worth and consider the source. Frankly, I give about as much creedene to anything Wheeler does as I do Larry Sinclair. This video is making the rounds. If it is accurate, we're dealing with a very serious problem here. Either this man has a serious anti-American ... More About: Military
Please, Bring Back Global Warming
2008-05-24 07:59:00 FRIDAY, MAY 23It has been chilly, rainy, and overcast all day. It is probably snowing up on the mountains. I wish someone would explain to me where Global Warming plays into all of this. It is nearly the first of June and the leaves have yet to completely appear on the trees here – they are still new leaves! They are still in that lacy phase. The Canne Film Festival – worth reading. Life, the Clintons and Barack Obama
2008-05-24 07:41:00 GETTING RID OF THE CLINTONSYesterday, as I was driving down to Alamo to see Indiana Jones, I was listening to FOX on XM. A piece came up about Senator Kennedy being unable to fulfill his obligation to deliver an address at graduation celebrations at Wellesley College, Hillary Clinton’s Alma Mater. Senator Kennedy has requested that Barack Obama deliver the address for him. Why not ask Hillary Clinton? She is without a doubt Wellesley’s most famous graduate. It was like a light-bulb finally being switched on in my pathetic mind. Ted Kennedy is supporting Barack Obama because he ... More About: Life
Gordon Brown’s Impending Political Demise
2008-05-24 06:16:00 A CAUTIONARY TALE FOR BARACK OBAMAI am not up on politics in the UK, but I’ve been seeing articles about the trials and tribulations of Gordon Brown, one so liberally promising, and now about to bring the whole Labor Party down on it’s tushie. It is a cautionary tale, one the Dems should take seriously. Gordon Brown is the UK’s version of Barack Obama. There are those who are betting he won’t last the summer. Evidently his leadership is a disaster. The UK is turning conservative again. I think this bodes will for John McCain in the fall. ... More About: Political
Banning Indiana Jones Because He Is Conservative
2008-05-24 05:28:00 CRUDE ANTI-SOVIET PROPAGANDA!The movie is crude, anti-Soviet propaganda! I told you the new Indiana Jones movie was conservative, which is why Harrison Ford did that liberal appeasement thing and waxed his gorgeous chest. Well, there are those who think the movie should be banned! The Commies are mad! Maybe I’m just being nostalgic for the Soviet Union and the stability (yes stability) of the balance of power between the two nations. The Soviets were a "fun" enemies. They were like everyone's self-righteous cousin at a family reunion, always good for a few laughs. They had no sense of ... More About: Indiana Jones , Conservative
In Support of Films Made in New Mexico
2008-05-23 07:37:00 THURSDAY, MAY 22I think we should strongly support movies made in New Mexico . After all, when you think you’ve seen Harrison Ford driving in the lane next to you and shake it off as an over active imagination, well, low and behold it was Harrison Ford. Same thing holds true for the evening you are having dinner in an obscure Holiday Inn dining room where there are only a hand-full of patrons. That nice Brit with the wonderful manners who was so handsome, well it was Bond, James Bond.Seriously, it was great movie. I enjoyed every ... More About: Films , New Mexico , Support , Made
What Is the Price of a Conservative Soul These Days?
2008-05-23 06:57:00 THE COWARDS OF THE CONGRESSToday the Anchoress mentioned if the GOP does not trash the farm bill, they are not worth saving. I don’t think many of them are, and for much the same reason. They’ve sold their souls to the highest bidder who an rally constituent support. I've Been Waiting For This For Some Time Now
2008-05-22 20:22:00 THE DEATH OF THE MINUTEMAN MOVEMENT?I will not mourn their passing. Evidently, as all the little nasties start circling the wagon and finances just don’t add up like they should, all is not sweetness and light in Minuteman land. According to Jim Gilchrist, they’ve lost. Let’s face it, when you create an organization that involves a bunch of racists, thugs, and con-artist, not to mention the various personality disorders of its founder, you’re bound to run into a little problem every once in awhile. No, the demise is not eminent, but it is coming. “…“They think they... More About: Time , Waiting
The Attack of the Giant Bee?
2008-05-22 07:43:00 WEDNESDAY, MAY 21I have my Indiana Jones tickets for the morrow. Alicia and the girls are meeting me here at noonish. My parents are also going (naturally). We’ll drive to Alamo, have lunch, then keep up with the Joneses. Sydney has never seen Indiana Jones. That should prove interesting. What Is Richard Viguerie Doing with Bob Barr & the Libertarians
2008-05-22 07:03:00 IS THERE A MOONIE FACTOR?There has been a fascinating development along Libertarian lines these past few weeks. Evidently Richard Viguerie, the “conservative” version of a snake-oil salesman had decided to take over the Libertarian Party to help his pal Bob Barr run for POTUS. Neal Bortz is in on this along with the dynamic duo. We know Viguerie wishes to do harm to John McCain. Just what this tremendous trio is planning is quite obvious. They are going to attempt to prevent John McCain from winning the election. I have a feeling we are going to see an unholy ... More About: Libertarians
Who Says One Person (or two) Can’t Make A Difference
2008-05-22 04:22:00 HE POWER OF THE BLOG The NYTimes has mentioned Sarah Palin as potential VP pick for McCain. Let me begin by stating that the governor of Alaska is going to challenge the polar bear ruling. My cynical father always says that one person can’t make much of a difference in the world. He also has this theory that politics are so crooked one person can’t make much of a difference. Well, my father is wrong (for once)! Miss Beverly Sills Does Not Like Music!
2008-05-21 07:50:00 TUESDAY, MAY 20As I write this I am listening to the new Indiana Jones soundtrack. Just downloaded it from I-Tunes, loaded it on my IPod and have hooked it up to the Bose speakers. INCREDIBLE! Bubbles is a wreck. She does not like music! Can you imagine a cat named after the legendary Beverly Sills not liking music? And – she likes opera even less than she likes John Williams! My Very Fun Evening!
2008-05-21 07:37:00 WHY I HAVE ONLY ONE PINK FLAMINGO POST TODAYRegular readers of The Pink Flamingo are probably familiar with the ongoing, and quite tragic, story about my friend Chris and her children, two of which are my godchildren. Earlier this afternoon I discovered that “J” had earned a spot to attend a specific youth revival in CA this weekend. She needed about $90 for the week. Naturally you know who gave her $150. (She needed money for some ‘stuff’). Maybe 30 minutes later I told my mother what I did. Her bright idea – the poor child needed clothes. Since ... More About: Evening
What Is the GOP To Do?
2008-05-21 07:08:00 EVOLVE OR BE LEFT BEHINDI have been ranting and raving about conservatives and the GOP for ages. Anyone can rant and rave. But – we need reason and plans of action. I am not about to suggest a plan of action. That is for wiser minds than my own. I can, though come up with some fairly educated observations. I don’t think there is much more anyone can do. We all know the GOP is either going to sink or swim with John McCain. He is going to drag them kicking or screaming into the 21st Century, ...
