The National Council of ?The Race?
2008-05-13 13:30:00 Today, The National Council of La Raza calls itself ?the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States.? According to the ?About? page on The Race ?s website, NCLR ?works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans.? That is very vague, and leads me to wonder how exactly they go about doing this. What policies do they advocate? More About: Column , Duane

Human Shield Group Reaches Milestone, 10,000 Morons Ready to Die for Iran
2008-05-12 17:00:00 I don’t even know where to start with these folks. This is a group that is ready to fly to Iran and stand in front of or in buildings in order to prevent the President Bush from invading. Yep, it’s that easy: The human shield movement to Iran has been mobilizing for over three years now using online mechanisms such as Pledge Bank to secure volunteers willing to travel to Iran to position themselves around civilian infrastructure sites in order to try and prevent what they believe would be a catastrophic and unjustified attack. Whilst it is expected that most missiles will be directed at military installations the human shields are concerned that sites in the Iranian capital will also be targeted. Today Steven Morris from Birmingham was the 10,000th person to pledge himself as human shield volunteer. Volunteers from 22 countries have already pledged themselves to the mission and are currently in the latter stages of preparation in order to be ready to travel to Iran ... ?Whatever it takes to avoid creating a new human is what we advocate.?
2008-05-12 14:20:00 In order to save the planet, some folks recycle, some take the bus. Others may buy organic in order to limit the use of chemicals. Then, there are those that call for the extiction of the human race: The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement, or VHEMT, consists of volunteers who have made active life decisions to remain childless for the benefit of the Earth, thereby preventing the extinction of millions of species of plants and animals. While no one person takes credit for being the founder, Les U. Knight created its name and is the spokesperson for the movement. “We’ve already exceeded Earth’s carrying capacity for humans by quite a bit,” Knight told WND. “We are using up our resources. The best way to stop it is by not breeding. It’s really the best way because the people we don’t create don’t exist, and so there’s no impact on them.” How does he know “We’ve already exceeded Earth’s carrying capacity for... The Racist Origin of ?La Raza?
2008-05-12 12:00:00 The term ?La Raza ?, or ?the Race? originated in a book titled ?La Raza Cósmica,? written in 1929 by José Vasconcelos. The book?s title translates to ?The Cosmic Race,? and was Vasconcelos? attempt to explain ?the ideology of a future ?fifth race? in the Americas; an agglomeration of all the races in the world with no respect to color or number. ?honour killings sometimes are impossible not to commit?
2008-05-11 10:56:00 Next time you hear some moron compare Islam and Christianity like there is some kind of moral equivalence, remember this article and ask them the last time they heard of a Christian honor killing: For Abdel-Qader Ali there is only one regret: that he did not kill his daughter at birth. ‘If I had realised then what she would become, I would have killed her the instant her mother delivered her,’ he said with no trace of remorse. Two weeks after The Observer revealed the shocking story of Rand Abdel-Qader, 17, murdered because of her infatuation with a British solider in Basra, southern Iraq, her father is defiant. Sitting in the front garden of his well-kept home in the city’s Al-Fursi district, he remains a free man, despite having stamped on, suffocated and then stabbed his student daughter to death. Abdel-Qader, 46, a government employee, was initially arrested but released after two hours. Astonishingly, he said, police congratulated him on what he had done. ... The Great Sequel List!
2008-05-10 12:00:00 The idea is to get the audience back into the theater based on the name only, rather than the continuation of a compelling story. And now, in an entertainment industry that seems propelled by the ?three-play?, or movie franchises in three installments, the second movie is often overlooked in regards to the story as a whole. A few sequels have shown us that, not only was the first movie a great idea, but that the story can be carried on. More About: Great , List , Column , Mike , Sequel
U.N. AId Workers SHOCKED, Myanmar Rulers Seize Humanitarian Aid
2008-05-09 21:39:00 On Wednesday, I wrote the following: …don?t believe for a second that this money will be spent on the people. Today, Myanmar proved why more and more people each day are reading All American Blogger: Myanmar’s military leaders seized aid shipments headed for cyclone survivors and told the top U.S. diplomat there Friday that they’re not ready to let in American aid workers despite warnings the country is on the verge of a medical catastrophe. Another 4 inches of rain was forecast to fall next week as more than 1 million people waited for food, clean water, shelter and medicine to reach them. Diplomats and aid groups warned the number of dead could eventually exceed 100,000 because of illnesses and said thousands of children may have been orphaned. The U.N. World Food Program said two planeloads of supplies containing enough high-energy biscuits to feed 95,000 people were seized Friday, prompting the world body to say it was suspending aid flights. UPDATE: Leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq NOT CAPTURED
2008-05-09 16:03:00 I posted yesterday that Abu Ayyub al-Masri had been nabbed and was off the street. Turns out, that story was not true: BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the head of al Qaeda in Iraq, has not been captured, a senior U.S. military official told CNN on Friday. Iraqi authorities said Thursday that al-Masri had been captured in Mosul. U.S. military officials were surprised about the report of Abu Ayyub al-Masri’s capture — first reported by Iraqi media and picked up by The Associated Press. And intelligence officials said they were skeptical, even though Iraqi officials said al-Masri was already in U.S. military custody. Al-Masri (”the Egyptian”), also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, took the reins of the Iraqi al Qaeda offshoot in June 2006 after a U.S. missile strike killed his predecessor, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Since then, Iraqi officials have reported his death three times, his capture twice and a mortal wounding once. Too bad. I wonder how th... More About: Al Qaeda , Update , War in Iraq , Al-Qaeda

Show Me the Money, Honey!
2008-05-09 13:11:00 From FoxNews.com: If a stay-at-home mom could be compensated in dollars rather than personal satisfaction and unconditional love, she’d rake in a nifty sum of nearly $117,000 a year. That’s according to a pre-Mother’s Day study released Thursday by Salary.com, a Waltham, Mass.-based firm that studies workplace compensation. The eighth annual survey calculated a mom’s market value by studying pay levels for 10 job titles with duties that a typical mom performs, ranging from housekeeper and day care center teacher to van driver, psychologist and chief executive officer. CEO? Pfft. Right. Not in my house, sister. It’s more like…(oh, Sara is waking up. I better hurry.) This year, the annual salary for a stay-at-home mom would be $116,805, while a working mom who also juggles an outside job would get $68,405 for her motherly duties. One stay-at-home mom said the six-figure salary sounds a little low. It probably would be if there was some extra ef... More About: Money , Show , Honey , Show Me the Money

Leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq CAPTURED!
2008-05-08 23:26:00 Huge news out of Iraq : The leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Ayyub al-Masri, has been arrested, according to media reports quoting the country’s defence ministry. Masri, also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, was detained in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the reports said. The US military in Iraq said it was currently looking into the reports. The Egyptian-born militant took over the leadership of the group from Abu Musab al-Zarqawi shortly after he was killed in a US air strike in June 2006. Masri is believed to have helped Zarqawi form the first al-Qaeda cell in Baghdad following the US-led invasion in 2003. Soviet Style Solution to Los Angeles Housing Costs
2008-05-08 15:54:00 So, here is how it breaks down. Reason.tv: Mississippi Drug War Blues - The Case of Cory Maye
2008-05-08 15:25:00 At 11p.m on December 26, 2001 police in Prentiss, Mississippi raided the residence of Cory Maye, a 21-year-old father who was at home with his 18-month-old daughter Ta’Corriana. The cops were looking for drugs and smashed through the back door. In the ensuing chaos, Maye hunkered down with his daughter in a bedroom and when the police broke down that door, he fired three bullets, one of which killed Officer Ron Jones. Maye testified in court that the police did not identify themselves until after they had entered his residence; indeed, he testified that they did not identify themselves until after he had fired his shots. Once they did, he said he put his weapon on the floor, slid it toward police, and surrendered. The police, who refused to talk with reason.tv, tell a different story. They claim that they identified themselves multiple times before entering Maye’s house and bedroom, and that there was no way Maye couldn’t have known who they were. A jury rejected M... U.S. Diplomat: Myanmar Deaths Could Reach 100,000
2008-05-07 21:54:00 Myanmar’s military dictators did not warn it’s citizens that a cyclone was coming. NASA told them Wednesday that the huge storm was going to hit them hard, but they stayed mum. India told its people about the storm two days before landfall. Myanmar said nothing. Now there may be 100,000 or more dead: Bodies floated in flood waters and survivors tried to reach dry ground on boats using blankets as sails, while the top U.S. diplomat in Myanmar said Wednesday that up to 100,000 people may have died in the devastating cyclone. Hungry crowds stormed the few shops that opened in the country’s stricken Irrawaddy delta, sparking fist fights, according to Paul Risley, a spokesman for the U.N. World Food Program in neighboring Thailand. Shari Villarosa, who heads the U.S. Embassy in Myanmar, said food and water are running short in the delta area and called the situation there “increasingly horrendous.” “There is a very real risk of disease outbreaks ... Quarter of IN, NC Primary Voters Vote Against McCain
2008-05-07 14:55:00 McCain already has the Republican candidacy wrapped up as far as delegates go. But in yesterday’s primary, a quater of Republican voters voted against McCain. In Indiana, Mike Huckabee pulled down 12% of the vote, followed by Ron Paul with 8%. In North Carolina, Huckabee nabbed 10%, and Paul received another 8%. What does this all mean? At least a quarter of the Republican base is still not accepting John McCain. And Johnny Mac isn’t doing anything to endear himself to those voters. If he continues rejecting them, they will stay home and he will lose to Barack Obama. Is This the Year for Third Party Candidates? More About: Election , Vote , Primary , Voters
