For anyone who is a true nerd (like myself) the search for the truth ended on May 19, 2002. That was the series finale for the Fox television series ?The X-Files.? The series, covering the search for a shadow conspiracy by FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), produced 9 seasons, one feature film, and at least two video games. The series, which focused on subjects such as Unidentified Flying Objects, aliens, and government cover-ups, caught the attention of a great many fans who were interested in paranormal subjects. Brandishing American flags and signs reading “Stop the Invasion,” about 200 people showed up Thursday morning at De Anza Park to take part in a march against illegal immigration. Across town, about 300 people showed up to march “for immigrant rights”. Lawmakers in New Jersey has decided that if you are going to eat fast food, you are going to pay more for it. They are suggesting a tax on fast food to help struggling hospitals. Yeah, you read that right: The thought of taxing a Big Mac or a Wendy’s burger came up at a New Jersey Hospital Association meeting where Gov. Jon S. Corzine was asked if it could be an option to help fund struggling hospitals. At the meeting, he reportedly called it a “constructive suggestion.” This is the typical government reaction to a problem. I wonder how many of these lawmakers considered organizing a fund-raiser or charity auction for the hospital problem. My instinct tells me that “charity” is a foreign concept to these folks. The Berkeley College Republicans are looking to get the same permit privileges that anti-war group Code Pink use to protest outside the Marine recruiting center in Downtown Berkeley. PopPhoto has photoshopped some images of the candidates to show how they are likely to look in four years. For those of you who vote based on looks, this might be helpful to you. Aging takes time, even when you make it happen artificially with software. Each candidate took about four hours of retouching. To mimic the ravages of time, we did the following: - Used the Burn and Dodge tools to deepen wrinkles and paint in age spots. - Cloned the eyebrows and moved them lower. - Used the Liquify filter to hollow out cheeks, make jowls, thin out lips, and enlarge ears and noses. - For Clinton and Obama, brought in forehead wrinkles from separate photos and used the Match Color tool to blend them in. - For Obama, painted in gray hair on top of his current hair; for Clinton, desaturated with the Sponge tool to make her grayer.
