Mayoral Candidate Website Updates
2007-09-25 21:16:00
There have been updates to all three of the Williamsport Mayoral candidates websites since I last blogged them.Tom O'Connor's site now includes 2 new posts, a tab which explains precisely how to write him in, a blogroll (where I was pleased and surprised to find my site link and those of several friends) and more detail concerning how to support Tom in the "Contact the Campaign" section. One of Tom's new posts referenced a Sun Gazette article about a misleading political poll, which seems to have been denounced by both Tom and Bill. The second highlighted news about how write-in votes will be counted, and references to several posts I'd made: including a label I'd used for Mr. O'Connor long before anyone knew he'd join the race.Bill McConnell's site added a new article on the 14th of this month with specific details of his economic plan. I appreciate Bill's creativity and practicality, and hope that if he does not win the election that whomever does will make use of McConnel...

Lycoming Crossing Site Plan
2007-09-25 21:02:00
My husband and I drove by the Lycoming Crossing site this weekend and speculated on its' completion date. This morning, a Sun-Gazette article answered our speculation about whether or not we'd be shopping at Target this Christmas season. Nope. The center is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2008. I did find additional information about the project however on the Vision Group Ventures website. Be sure to click on the numbers (1-4) underneath the picture on the right side of the page to see an Aerial, Area Demographics, Site Plan and Target Elevation.Go to www.billtownblog.com to read more commentary on Williamsport, PA (Pennsylvania), and Lycoming County• Email to a friend • Article Search • Related •

Best Gas Prices in Williamsport
2007-09-19 12:08:00
I use iGoogle as my start page. Like many others, Google allows you to customize your start page by choosing from a huge selection of gadgets or widgets that offer specialized content. One of the gadgets I've chosen to add to the local tab of my iGoogle is the "Local Gas Prices Gadget."Now, I work at improving my frugality, but penny to penny price comparisons do not come naturally to me. So I was suprised when I took the time to actually look at the data on my Local gas prices gadget this morning.I was under the impression that Sheetz was the place to go for an economical fill-up. But it's 2 local locations (on Westminster Drive and Maynard Street) appear at the bottom of the gadget's list denoting Regular Unleaded at a price of $2.799 as of 9/18.So who's the cheapest?Kwik-Fill at $2.669 (same grade) located in1) Newberry on West Fourth Street,2) on Lycoming Creek Road past Garden View,3) and in South Williamsport on Route 15 about 1/2 mile beyond the Little League fields. Not w...

Article about Williamsport in This Morning's Baltimore Sun
2007-09-16 14:51:00
Wow! We're famous, and it's not even Little League time!Check out this article in this morning's Baltimore Sun. The article, written by Diane Stoneback, begins:Williamsport makes national and international news once a year - when the Little League World Series is played here in August. But it's unfortunate that this north-central Pennsylvania city gets forgotten almost as quickly as the last Little Leaguer rounds the bases at Howard J. Lamade Stadium. That's just wrong, because Williamsport is too rich a place to leave unexplored. The story is entitled "Williamsport has the Bases Covered." Stoneback (a travel writer for the Allentown Morning Call) has many positive things to say about our charming town including the following rather salient point:When I returned recently, I was amazed at what residents have done to preserve the Williamsport of my memories and improve upon it. In the process, they've added many reasons to visit the area.A great kick-off to positive thinking!Go t...
