2008-06-05 21:18:00 but do your words "The latest asshole to storm Blogdonia" reflect the mind of Christ?I don't presume to know the mind of Christ, and I am amazed anyone seriously does. I'm Catholic, and we have committees to deal with all of that stuff. You'll have to ask the Magisterium! (I hear it can be pretty rough to schedule an appointment, though.)I didn't condemn Rachel Moss to hell and do not judge her soul or anyone else's. I judge her ACTS, as a jury similarly judges ACTS, and I say: guilty of assholism. (And I'm probably not going to contribute to the blog carnival, if it makes you feel any better. I was doing the commercial for friends of mine who are organizing it.) More About: Words , Storm , Asshole

2008-06-05 19:39:00 I would like to visit his house, too. Never got there!I think it is important that Christians remind people that there is diversity- some people forget that and lump everyone together when they generalize. And the Moss thing? I am glad that the bloggers are quick to spread these actions around. More About: House , Visit

2008-06-05 01:19:00 Heh. There's recently been a rather high profile double murder here. A 15 year old girl was found dead in her bed by her parents. The police were called. They decided (of course, heh) that the domestic help was the villain...except then he was found dead on the terrace (not by the police, they didn't bother to check up there) and that left him out of it. Now they have arrested the dad and (on the basis of no evidence that they're willing to show the public) decided that the dad was having an affair with someone else, the daughter knew about it, the daughter was having an affair with the domestic help (apparently these are supposed to both be motives for the father to have killed her) and they've released her chat transcripts to the press to prove that she flirted with boys and was therefore promiscuous. Between then the police and media have created this whole big circus. Now the incompetence of the police is being questioned (how do you go to a house where a murder has been com... 2008-06-04 22:37:00 I'm kind of a flexitarian--eat vegetarian for weeks at a time without really noticing the absence of meat. I crumble and sautee tempeh with onion--and then add it to a black bean-chipotle chili with cumin, red pepper, several cloves of roasted garlic, and a three or four cups of diced tomatoes. I got the basic recipe from Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything Vegetarian , and it's one of my favorite ways to use tempeh. The tempeh and chipotle combination makes it really smoky and deeply flavored. More About: Week

2008-06-04 17:37:00 Wow, thanks for the nod, Daisy !! I'd like to go back to Gorey's house next year and try to find all 26 of the Gashlycrumb Tinies.I'm glad that there's a movement by the progressive Christian community, to be more all-inclusive and tolerant. It's about time. The nutjobs (read: Fred Phelps) really paint all truly good hearted, open and affirming Christians a bad name.

2008-06-04 01:28:00 I love this song.INHO, the movie was less than satisfying---there's no way the thing Billy Joe threw off the Tallahatchie bridge was some"dumb ole" doll. Thanks for this second version, Daisy. Bobbie Gentry would've made a helluva good actress in films; the way she performs that song is simply haunting... More About: Movie , Love , Song , The Movie

2008-06-03 23:55:00 Hi, Daisy ,You can fry or steam tempeh. It's very good for marinating because it soaks up liquids really quickly (including frying oil, so watch it!) The other night I marinated some tempeh for a half an hour in a mixture of soy sauce, rice vinegar, hot chile oil, ginger powder, and sesame oil. Fry that sucker up in some peanut oil on medium-high until it's a little browned, and you're good to go. More About: Steam

2008-06-03 23:31:00 Back home we would just soak the slices (think credit card size, about 1/8" thick) in water with a pinch of salt for 5 minutes, then deep fry. Eat with hot steaming rice and kecap manis (sweet Indonesian soy sauce). This is how I like it best.Or coat with a mixture of flour and chopped green onions (add salt, pepper, coriander and nutmeg to taste) and deep fry. We usually have this snack with Thai chilies.Make gado-gado (salad with peanut sauce). If you want more traditional Indonesian recipes, search for "tempe" (no H) More About: Home , Back
