Out the Door
2007-11-16 18:16:00 Back later. Here, read something: "The Senate on Friday blocked a Democratic proposal that would have paid for the Iraq war but required that troops start coming home."And if you're just fed up with all the crap that's going on up in Washington Circus, assuage your ire by messing around with this for a while -- and no, not going to tell you which celebrities I resemble; but I will say the one that resembles me the most is kinda creepy-looking. Or if you write a blog, check out what's your blog's reading level is. Worked for me. More About: Door
Freakin' Kewl: A Free Online Book !
2007-11-16 16:12:00 Run over here and get yours. Here's a peek:Over the last decade, U.S. industrial employment has been ravaged by Neoliberal “free trade” policies and corporate outsourcing while workers have struggled to retain the basic vestiges of the American Dream. Sadly, as the post-industrial society has eroded the industrial heartland of middle-class America, the mall has replaced the factory as the engine of the US economy. Indeed, one of the distinguishing features of the “new economy” is that it is more profitable to finance consumption than production. And, as real wages have declined and basic living expenses have soared, American families have become increasingly dependent upon consumer credit and debt to maintain their lifestyle and, too often, simply to survive.Via More About: Free , Book , Online

Typos
2007-11-16 15:10:00 Hate when I make them. That's what happens when one consummates a post and then quickly hits the publish button without checking for them, as if the post is gonna disappear or something right after punching in that last letter. Good thing is, when I make one, I always spot it a few seconds later, and promptly correct it. And of course the problem with this is that, although visitors can see the typo-free post here, my subscribers -- yeah, I gotta few, over 15 -- receive the uncorrected post. Sorry y'all. Henceforth I'll reread the post carefully before hitting that publish post button. More About: Typos

2007-11-16 06:18:00 I need a drink:Iran has installed 3,000 centrifuges for enriching uranium - enough to begin industrial-scale production of nuclear fuel and build a warhead within a year, the UN's nuclear watchdog reported last night. The report by Mohamed ElBaradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), will intensify US and European pressure for tighter sanctions and increase speculation of a potential military conflict....The IAEA says the uranium being produced is only fuel grade (enriched to 4%) but the confirmation that Iran has reached the 3,000 centrifuge benchmark brings closer a moment of truth for the Bush administration, when it will have to choose between taking military action or abandoning its red line, and accepting Iran's technical mastery of uranium enrichment.Update: I'm not worried about Iran. Please read comments for more.Update II: U.S. to Seek New Sanctions Against Iran.

What To Call It?
2007-11-16 02:56:00 I've been with my girlfriend for a little over 14 years nearly fifteen years. We met in 1993, on a street corner, around the way where I used to live. I was 17-years-old; she was sixteen-years-old. Our beautiful son was born in the latter part of the following year. He's now going on 13-years-old. Yeah, as my mom used to tell me, we were babies when we had him. But so what? We're all still together. And I've been living with my girlfriend ever since. But here's the thing: I don't think we're ever going to get married. We're just not thinking about tying the knot because ... well ... the knot is already tied. So here's a question that I don't have an answer to but has been on my mind for some time now: What type of relationship are we in? Are we singles? Is she my common law wife? Is there like a place we can go and get an interpersonal relationship certificate or something? I really dunno. More About: Call

2007-11-16 01:51:00 Email from the Chris Dodd campaign:Dear Wil,As they say ... Breaking News from the Senate.Forgive me if some of this is in the weeds, I'll try and make the parliamentary process as painless as possible.1. Within the last hour, the Senate Judiciary Committee just reported out a FISA bill that DOES NOT include retroactive immunity for the telecom companies that helped the Bush Administration spy on Americans.2. This means the Judiciary bill moves to the full Senate WITHOUT the dangerous language included.3. Retroactive immunity will, however, surely be introduced as an amendment to the FISA bill.4. If needed Senator Dodd will filibuster any amendment seeking to add retroactive immunity to the underlying bill. By filibustering, he will force the opposition to find 60 votes to pass the provision. It will be a lot more difficult for those who would enable the erosion of our Constitution to find the 60 votes necessary to stop immunity on its own than it would be for us to find the 40 need...
Faux News Poll
2007-11-16 00:21:00 None of the above:"If you woke up tomorrow morning and the United States were suddenly in an extremely serious crisis, which presidential candidate would make you the most comfortable sitting behind the desk in the oval office making decisions — Hillary Clinton or Rudy Giuliani?"Me: Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul, Mike Gravel, and maybe, just maybe Bill Richardson. Some of the other Democratic candidates seem to me to be a bit too hawkish. The others I don't trust. With the exception of Ron Paul, forget about the Republican candidates. They're warmongers. On-Screen Caller ID
2007-11-15 21:24:00 Pretty kewl:Couch potato alert: If you get telephone service through your cable TV provider, you don't have to get up while watching TV to see who's calling.Several cable companies have been experimenting with a feature that will display an incoming caller's name and number in a little box in the corner of the TV screen....Cablevision says its on-screen caller ID -- including an option to turn off the notifications -- carries no additional charge.I think they were testing this feature yesterday night because a little box with my mother-in-law's name and phone number popped up on my teevee screen and vanished seconds later. Ignored And Ridiculed Because He Speaks Truth...
2007-11-15 03:51:00 ...and represents the American people, not Corporate America:Largely ignored by the mainstream media, a dark-horse Democratic presidential candidate has decided to create his own coverage with a new online TV station set to launch Wednesday. While the media seems more focused on Rep. Dennis Kucinich's alien encounters than his universal healthcare proposal or warnings about the march to war with Iran, the feisty Ohio Democrat is using the Internet to side-step the normal gatekeepers of presidential campaign coverage. KucinichTV will feature a live town hall meeting at 9 p.m. Wednesday as part of a series of broadcasts planned for the next 10 weeks, the campaign says.Related posts:Gravitating Toward Dennis KucinichLeave it to DennisKucinich Speech at Latino CongressoImpeaching The DickDennis Kucinich questions Bush's Mental HealthLiveblogging the Democratic DebateDennis Kucinich on PBS News Hour More About: Truth , Ruth
