No Party Affiliation
2008-05-20 19:40:00 Just mailed the voter registration form.Wiki: "No Party Affiliation or NPA is a term used to apply to those voters or politicians who do not hold affiliation with any or any particular political party. Another more common term used in place of 'NPA' is 'Independent'. However, NPA is more of a legal term, while 'Independent' is more of a colloquial term."Related posts: Centrism and Please, No Pie-Throwing.
Fair Game
2008-05-20 19:22:00 Linda Chavez: "Michelle Obama doesn’t just show up at fundraisers or make the occasional, canned surrogate speech. She is, as The New York Times noted here, involved in shaping campaign strategy, and her speeches have sometimes generated as much attention as his. Why shouldn’t she be fair game for speculation, dissection, and criticism?" More About: Game , Fair

Thought His Campaign Slogan Was "Yes You Can"
2008-05-20 03:21:00 Obama: "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That's not leadership. That's not going to happen." I don't own a car. Nor do I own a home -- I'm broke. But when I do get the wherewithal to purchase a car and a home, I hope I'm not living under a president who says I can't drive and munch as much as I want and keep my home on 72 degrees at all times. Seriously.UPDATE: Who’s Obama talking about? Al Gore? More About: Campaign , Thought , Slogan
Stop Whining
2008-05-20 01:56:00 Barack Obama: "If [the GOP] think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because that I find unacceptable." What I’d like to know is why Obama thinks that statements made by his wife on the campaign trail are not open to criticism. If Obama were complaining about political ads distorting her remarks, his complaining would have made some sense. But that’s not what's going on here. Obama wants Republicans to stop using excerpts of remarks she has made on the campaign trail because he says it's "unacceptable." Now, can someone (Andrew?) please tell me why it's "unacceptable" to use remarks a surrogate makes out on the stump? Michelle is a surrogate for her husband just as Bill Clinton is a surrogate for his wife. Whatever surrogates say on the campaign trail is fair game for criticism. More About: Stop
Centrism
2008-05-19 21:22:00 ACCORDING TO YOUR ANSWERS,The political group thatagrees with you most is....CENTRISTI bet it'd change if they were to add more policy questions to the test. Related.ADDENDUM: "CENTRISTS espouse a 'middle ground' regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice. Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind, tend to oppose 'political extremes,' and emphasize what they describe as 'practical' solutions to problems."

Please, No Pie-Throwing
2008-05-15 21:18:00 Over the past weeks, I have revisited my stances on issues that I deem important to me and my family, and I think I have given a fair hearing to different sides of these issues. With some disagreement, I think Republicans/conservatives are right on issues concerning education, culture, national security, immigration and the environment. Thus, I'm going back home. I'm going back home to the Republican Party.Update: A very good friend of mine convinced me last night that I shouldn’t be affiliated with any party until I give the issues some more thought. And she recommends that I take these political tests to see where I score on a political scale. Good idea. (She thinks that I’m not a conservative but a political moderate.)

A Big Blow
2008-05-14 15:09:00 The Hill: "The GOP loss in Mississippi’s special election Tuesday is the strongest sign yet that the Republican Party is in shambles. And while some Republicans see a light at the end of the tunnel, that light more likely represents the Democratic train that is primed to mow down more Republicans in November."

Quote For The Day
2008-05-09 04:00:00 "From time to time, I get a letter from some aspiring young writer, asking about how to write or how to get published. My usual response is that the only way I know to become a good writer is to be a bad writer and keep on improving. However, even after you reach the point where you are writing well—and that can take many years—the battle is not over. There are still publishers to contend with. Then there are editors and, worst of all, copy-editors." - Thomas Sowell. More About: Quote

Unhinged Liberals
2008-05-09 01:55:00 The other day my son told me that he wanted to buy me a book but really didn't know what book to buy me. (He only buys me books when he's punished. Heh.) Because it's been, like, a year since the last time I read a right-wing book, I told him to buy me a book written by a conservative (I think the last one I read was David Frum's How We Got Here: The 70's: The Decade That Brought You Modern Life--For Better or Worse -- I own it.) Well, he just got back from the book store with his mom, and guess what book he got me? Unhinged: Exposing Liberals Gone Wild.

Primary Day
2008-05-06 15:36:00 Washington Post: "Clinton needs at least one victory today to keep alive a rationale to stay in the race. Obama could effectively shut down the nomination battle by winning in both states, and Clinton has been equivocal about whether she will keep going if she loses both." More About: Primary
Her Surname -- Garcia -- Makes Top Ten
2007-11-18 02:22:00 My wife's:Step aside Moore and Taylor. Welcome Garcia and Rodriguez.Smith remains the most common surname in the United States, according to a new analysis released yesterday by the Census Bureau. But for the first time, two Hispanic surnames — Garcia and Rodriguez — are among the top 10 most common in the nation, and Martinez nearly edged out Wilson for 10th place.No. 8 spot. Check if your surname is on the 5,000 list. Dipini, sadly, doesn't break it. My mom's name made the list though -- and no, I'm not gonna tell you her name because it will just make it easier for you to hack my bank account:)

CNN, Certainly Not News
More articles from this author:2007-11-16 23:55:00 Link:Maria Luisa, the UNLV student who asked Hillary Clinton whether she preferred "diamonds or pearls" at last night's debate wrote on her MySpace page this morning that CNN forced her to ask the frilly question instead of a pre-approved query about the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository."Every single question asked during the debate by the audience had to be approved by CNN," Luisa writes. "I was asked to submit questions including "lighthearted/fun" questions. I submitted more than five questions on issues important to me. I did a policy memo on Yucca Mountain a year ago and was the finalist for the Truman Scholarship. For sure, I thought I would get to ask the Yucca question that was APPROVED by CNN days in advance."This is just one reason why I don't trust the mainstream media Establishment -- a coterie of charlatans, liars and deceivers.
