Ahmadinejad, what a great guy, eh? You've just got to love his anti-gay rant at America's fabulous liberal learning institution, that being Columbia University. Boy, to be able to stand on a public stage here in America, in front of a huge (almost SRO crowd,) and spout off about how "there are no gays in Iran," must have just been an uplifting moment for him. It doesn't seem to register more than an occasional blip on the radar of most media outlets. Whether it be the inner workings of the proposed North American Union (NAU), the repeated attempts to bind America under the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), or the cultural disintegration we as Americans are facing daily. What's more, there has been almost nil coverage of the "Armed Incursions" my Mexican military personnel onto American soil. Just yesterday, an e-mail shout went out to a lot of us, (if not all) on the Grizzlygroundswell circuit about another video making the rounds. The video supposedly is a couple of veterans drinking and talking about their experiences overseas. Namely, their torture of detainees at Abu Ghraib to include the rape of a 15 year old girl. The speaker, an unidentifiable shaved headed looser even jokes about the girl, mentioning she was being "pimped out" to the soldiers for $50 a pop before she hanged herself. I found this on NewsMax.com the other day to be rather interesting as it covers both ends of the spectrum even though the title itself "Pope Slams Unethical Media ," portrays only one side of the article. According to the text, this last Thursday, Pope Benedict XVI "PRAISED the mass media for helping to spread democracy and knowledge around the world, but lamented that it also tended to hype violence, vulgarity and consumer products." Not to mention the particular slant that it seems to have adopted since the mid to late 60's. Something that regular readers of my blog have noticed I harp on quite a bit.He, The Pope, brings up an very interesting angle though in the article. Of all the targets a person plotting a terrorist attack could choose from, how in the heck did a Hannah Montana concert get the go ahead? A quick sidestep from my normal mantra, but worth the effort. It now appears that the writers have, pardon the pun, written themselves into a corner. The now two month plus old strike isn't paying off for them as I would suspect they had hoped, or planned for.Apparently, four major studios have terminated the contracts of dozens of writers, having already resigned next seasons television as a loss. Actual numbers vary, but the highest marker so far has reached over 65 contract cancellations.The studios in question so far are, 20th Century Fox Television, CBS Paramount Network Television, NBC Universal and Warner Bros. Television. I'm guessing with this big of a release, that other studios may/will follow suit and begin their own terminations.But what of it? What does this really mean for the average Tom, Dick and Harriet? So, no more scripted shows, possibly ever again? Is that really bad? Okay, this is just a general update of information about the confrontation between U.S. warships and the Iranian boats in the Strait of Hormuz .First off, here is the four minute, twenty second video released by the Pentagon. The easiest find was an upload by user Niteflyte6 on YouTube. The video was taken from the bridge area of one of the U.S. warships. There is additional video on CNN.com HERE.The Pentagon has identified the three U.S. ships as the guided missile destroyer USS Hopper DDG-70, the guided missile cruiser USS Port Royal CG-73 and the guided-missile frigate USS Ingraham DD-444.Apparently, the "box-like" objects dropped in the water by the Iranian boats, in the path of the U.S. warships DID float and were white in color. Keeping in step with my previous article about supporting our troops, here is yet another idea that people who REALLY support them could consider. Unfortunately, it requires mass amounts of people to do so, but it can be effective when done.As a Marine combat vet myself of Operation Desert Storm/Shield, I was extremely grateful upon returning home to see roads lined with flag waving supporters. It made me, and the rest of my unit, the 7th Marines, happy to see that we weren't going to be subjected to the same disrespect that Vietnam Vets received.But the thing we really appreciated the most, especially those in my unit who were married, and some who even had kids, was that our time overseas in a combat zone was tax exempt. We still had to file taxes for that tax season, but those several months overseas were essentially tax free.Action. Action ALWAYS speaks louder than words.
