TSA Goes Laissez-Faire
2008-06-07 16:11:00
In the ever-evolving war against airline passengers, the Transportation Security Administration continues to develop new weapons of mass dysfunction. Travelers have long been harassed with x-ray machines, metal-detecting wands and inscrutable verbal vetting like "Did someone put something in your luggage when you weren't looking?" Then in 2006 the TSA began quietly testing two new anti-personnel weapons. One is sort of an automated lie detector, a booth that interrogates suspects with damning questions ("Did someone put something in your luggage when you weren't looking?") while software analyzes feedback from biometric sensors busily monitoring blood pressure, pulse rate and nervous tics. read more

DAYS OF OUR LIES Interior, Congressional Office, Day Corn Lobbyist Wheeler Deeler confronts Senator Flip Phlopper in his Washington DC office. Corn Lobbyist (emotional): I've given you everything. I embraced your body politic with my assets. I caressed your palm with hush money. I've gotten you high in our corporate jet. Now I catch you with that scrawny little two-faced soybean lobbyist slut! Senator Flip Phlopper (defensive): Wheeler, listen, it didn't mean a thing. I just went to her smoke-filled room for a little cronyism, that's all. read more

Money Talks, But Why Isn't It Speaking For The Libertarians?
2008-06-02 18:08:00
I bring this up because while Barr might've been excused for donating to Larry Craig's campaign prior to his arrest, there can be little justification for his defense of Craig once his proclivities became public knowledge -other than being an ass blanket for the GOP Hypocritical Pervert Brigade. It only makes sense that those people you deem worthy of donations would also be deemed worthy of supporting- I can't think of a single, solitary person who donates their hard-earned money to politicians that have diametrically opposing views. read more

Sowing More Big Government with the Farm Bill, by US Rep. Ron Paul
2008-06-02 07:00:00
Recently Congress sent the latest Farm Bill to the president. The bill features brand new federal programs, expansion of existing subsidies, more food stamps and more foreign food aid. This bill hits the taxpayer hard, while at the same time ensuring food prices will remain elevated. The president vetoed the bill, citing concerns over its costs and subsidies for the wealthy in a time of high food prices and record farm income. Nevertheless, this over-reaching, government-expanding Farm Bill will soon be law. The truth is most farmers simply want honest pay for honest work. However, if the government is providing competing farms with advantages, and one wants to remain a farmer, one must seek a proportional advantage from government. It is a difficult position for the farmer. Some are better at qualifying for taxpayers? largesse than others as evidenced by the fact that more than 60% of the subsidies go to just 10% of recipients, edging out the small family farm. This entir...

Tin Hats, Truth, and Being Prepared for what will come.
2008-06-01 17:33:00
The largest and most significant power for governance is the people. Government is best likened to the plunger you use to clear your toilet; it is just the tool used by the people to order their business. The people precede all government and possess absolutely the right to alter or change government as they deem necessary. When government gets uppity the people should remember who is in charge. read more

Politically Correct Plaque Attack
2008-05-28 23:19:00
As one might expect in today's virulently aggressive politically correct culture, a movement is afoot to rewrite history, which includes "amending the plaques, statues, and memorials of historical figures to reflect their racist sentiments." (Christian Science Monitor). One movement afoot is to footnote a bust of Supreme Court Justice Roger Taney as a racist because he wrote the majority opinion in the Dred Scott case ... For another example, some South Carolinians want to tack a plaque on the base of the big bronze statue of Reconstruction-era Governor and US Senator Ben Tillman who, according to the Charleston City Paper, had a hand in rewriting the state constitution that "disenfranchised blacks and established the segregation laws which stood for 70 years" and, incidentally, advocated lynching Negroes." read more

Salute to Veterans, by US Rep. Ron Paul
2008-05-27 07:00:00
Most of my efforts on Capitol Hill are focused on reducing the federal government?s size and scope, but I make an exception for a very important group of people. Our nation?s men and women in uniform commit a selfless act of patriotism when they take up arms in defense of our country. As a veteran myself, I salute all those currently serving, or who have served in our armed forces. Our nation owes them a debt of gratitude for their sacrifices, their courage, their time away from friends and family, and the dangers they undertake. This Memorial Day we honor our soldiers and vets, we remember those who never came home, or who have since passed on. Above all, we acknowledge our respect for all who have served in the military. Congress has considered several bills this past week that would affect veterans. Many of the measures are very positive. I applaud efforts to shore up health care for veterans, and make sure that veterans know about the services available to them. I stron...

Third Court of Appeals tells CPS that its kidnapping of the FLDS children w
2008-05-25 01:25:00
The Texas Third Court of Appeals issues a writ of mandamus to Child Protective Services (CPS) that its kidnapping of the FLDS children was illegal and CPS has ten days to return the children. CPS won't let go, files an appeal with the Texas Supreme court, and then indicates it will ignore the Third Court of Appeals' writ to return the children within 10 days. Maybe because each kid taken could represent income of ~$400,000 to CPS? Hopefully, the Third Court of Appeals will continue to do its job properly, and issues contempt of court fines to CPS officials after the ten day deadline is up. We could be so lucky if that also includes jail time! read more

Arizona Voters to Recall Senator McCain?
2008-05-22 21:12:00
Most amusing concept ever? Here's a plea to the Arizona voters to Recall John McCain, which would be just down right funny, but... it might also give a phenomenal long shot chance for Dr. Ron Paul to be tapped for the Republican nomination for US President. The Revolution is heating up and Senator John McCain now finds himself at war with his own party. In particular, the Ron Paul r3volution! It is my idea to start a recall petition drive against McCain, within his home state of Arizona; as a RINO (republican in name only) McCain cannot, should not, and will not be the standard barer for the Republican Party. Please Start the Recall Petition process to remove McCain as Arizona's US Senator... read more

Students who are deemed 'behavior' problems can expect to be strip searched
2008-05-20 14:36:00
"I was wondering if you are aware of what goes on in the Clark County school system in regards to the treatment of students, ... policies and actions that border on something straight out of a prison. "Students who are deemed 'behavior' problems are expelled from regular school and sent to something called 'behavior school'. Once there they can expect to be strip searched -- strip searched. I still find this hard to comprehend. The system apparently treats children as some sort of enemy, to be controlled, to ensure docile compliance. read more

The Economy: Another Casualty of War, by US Rep. Ron Paul
2008-05-18 07:00:00
This week, as the American economy continued to suffer the effects of big government, the House attempted to pass two multibillion dollar "emergency" spending bills, one for continued spending on the war in Iraq , and one increasing spending on domestic and international welfare programs. The plan was to pass these two bills and then send them to the president as one package. Even though the House failed to pass the war spending bill, opponents of the war should not be fooled into believing this vote signals a long term change in policy. At the end of the day, those favoring continued military occupation of Iraq will receive every penny they are requesting and more as long as they agree to dramatically increase domestic and international welfare spending as well. read more

Right Versus Left, Who Kills More?
2008-05-15 02:12:00
Carbon emissions, we're told, cause global warming. Cars cough up carbon. Solution: biofuel. Brilliant! Politicians shovel billions of subsidy taxbucks at farmers who get rich selling corn to bio-refiners. Brazilians burn down that 1990s eco-chic cause, the Amazon rain forest, and plant soybeans. Indonesians hack down so much wilderness for palm oil trees for biodiesel they've climbed into third place on the Worldwide Carbon Emitter's Hit Parade. Turns out leafy growing things store carbon. When they're hacked and burned they cough up their carbon into the atmosphere. All this leaves less food for food .... And then there's this: "We now have quite a lot of evidence that carbon emissions definitely don't cause global warming." - US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. read more
