Loyalty To Bush Above The Needs Of The Country!
2007-07-24 23:18:00
See Originl StoryWatch senators grill the attorney general »Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., grilled Gonzales on whether the attorney general provided misleading statements when he said there had been no dissenting views in the administration on the domestic surveillance program that then operated without warrants. "How can you say you should stay on as attorney general when we go through exercises like this?" Schumer asked. "You want to be attorney general, you should be able to clarify it yourself."How can this manner of man respresent this country when his loyalty is to President George Bush ?

Pentagon To Hillary Clinton: You're Helping The Enemy
2007-07-20 08:14:00
Part 1Part 2See Original StoryThe Pentagon told Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton that her questions about how the U.S. plans to eventually withdraw from Iraq boosts enemy propaganda. In a stinging rebuke to a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Undersecretary of Defense Eric Edelman responded to questions Clinton raised in May in which she urged the Pentagon to start planning now for the withdrawal of American forces.A copy of Edelman's response, dated July 16, was obtained Thursday by The Associated Press."Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq, much as we are perceived to have done in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia," Edelman wrote. He added that "such talk understandably unnerves the very same Iraqi allies we are asking to assume enormous personal risks."Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines called the response "at once outrageous an...

A Country Under Siege
2007-07-19 06:58:00
Reid said today, ?Because Republicans continue to block votes on important amendments to the Defense Authorization bill, we can make no further progress on Iraq and this bill at this time. For these reasons, I have temporarily laid aside the Defense Authorization bill and have entered a motion to reconsider. But let me be clear to my Republican colleagues ? I emphasize the word ?temporarily?. We will do everything in our power to change course in Iraq. We will do everything in our power to complete consideration of a Defense Authorization bill. We must do both.Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Jon Kyl (R-AZ) raced to the television cameras this afternoon to offer hyperbolic attacks against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, following Reid?s decision to pull the entire Defense Authorization bill from consideration. McCain and Kyl were quick to dishonestly politicize Reid?s maneuver, after obstructing passage of the bill over opposition to an Iraq redeployment amendment. The Republicans hav...

Surging The Surge
2007-07-18 13:24:00
Gen. David Petraeus, has repeatedly said that the United States must wait until September to assess the success of the President?s escalation policy in Iraq. General Pace said the joint chiefs are developing their own report and thinking about another surge or a decrease in the Military troops in Iraq.Reid accused conservatives of ?protecting the President rather than protecting our troops? by ?denying us an up or down vote on the most important issue our country faces.? He stated "We have no alternative except to keep them in session to explain their obstruction," Thanks to the Senate Republicans, most Americans now know the Senate needs 60 votes to over turn anything that President Bush wants to do and at this time this President will continue with his failed strategy and just might resurge the surge.

Senator's Jim Webb And Lindsay Graham Have It Out
2007-07-16 23:36:00
Yesterday on Meet the Press, Senator Jim Webb and Senator Lindsay Graham had it out on the Troops in Iraq and the Presidents surge. This is a must see!Republicans have always out talked Democrats to get their point accross and yes, in the past the Democrats would allow them to do just that. Now there's a new day and a new sheriff in town. The Democrats are having none of that anymore as Senator Graham found out from Senator Webb.

Bush's Urge To Surge
2007-07-14 01:59:00
I know I said that I would have my picks for the Schmooze Awards in my next post. Excuse me, but I had to post this story on Bush before it got old.Bush has told lawmakers that they had no business trying to manage the war and warned that moving toward withdrawal now would risk "mass killings on a horrific scale." The Democrats, tired of Bush's tuff talk, responded by voting almost totally along party lines to require that the United States withdraw most combat troops from Iraq by April 1, 2008.Even though the Democrats are trying to fight, there is just not much they can really do accept threaten this President. Since there are not 60 votes in the Senate, Bush will have his way. What this should tell us is, we need more Democrats in the Senate really to make a difference. By the way the Bush administration has a new slogan...We need a surge of facts. This by Snow who said also "That's one of the things we're going to be working on."Now comes the lie that Bushes are pushing...

Bush To House and Senate, Just Wait!
2007-07-10 22:08:00
See Original StoryPresident Bush , facing new pressure to start bringing U.S. troops home from Iraq, said Tuesday he won't consider it until hearing a fresh assessment from his top commander there this fall."That's what the American people expect. They expect for military people to come back and tell us how the military operations are going," Bush said. "And that's the way I'm going to play it as commander in chief."Gen. David Petraeus is due in September to present a progress report to Congress on the effects of the recently completed troop buildup in Iraq. Frustration in Congress among leaders of both parties has led to calls for changes in strategy before then."We see little evidence of reconciliation and little progress toward meeting the benchmarks laid out by the president," said McCain. A U.S. withdrawal, he said, would increase "the potential for genocide, wider war, spiraling oil prices and the perception of strategic American defeat."McCain's comments contrasted with t...

Executive Privilege vs Congressional Investigators
2007-06-30 14:57:00
See Original StoryIn a letter to White House counsel Fred Fielding, the heads of the Senate and House Judiciary committees demanded an explanation in 10 days of why the White House claimed executive privilege on subpoenaed documents and vowed to invoke "the full force of law.""The veil of secrecy you have attempted to pull over the White House by withholding documents and witnesses is unprecedented and damaging to the tradition of open government by and for the people that has been a hallmark of the republic," Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., and Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., told Fielding. They gave the White House until July 9 to furnish the factual and legal bases for the executive privilege claim and documentation that President Bush personally signed off on it.Whether or not the White House meets the deadline, "we will take the necessary steps to rule on your privilege claims and appropriately enforce our subpoenas backed by the full force of law," Leahy and Conyers wrote. The problems a...

El Cenizo, Texas And The Immigration Bill
2007-06-28 13:06:00
Welcome to El Cenizo, Texas USA, a border town where Spanish is the official language and nobody bothers illegal immigrants. In May, 2006, El Cenizo, with a population of 6500 people, became a Spanish speaking town. In 2000, the population was 80.73% White, 0.28% African American, 1.07% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 14.67% from other races, and 3.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 98.90% of the population. Today our Senate refused to close debate and advance the legislation, thereby defeating President Bush's plan to overhaul immigration laws. America has to look at the fact that our agriculture States depend on Mexican workers, therefore America depends on Mexican workers. I am not judging which position is correct on this issue, there is enough of that going on around this country already. When you look at El Cenizo, what comes to your mind and does it bother anyone that this Texas city is a Spanish speaking city in America? Here's a video to put a l...

3.8 Million Dollars Bonus To VA Employees
2007-06-24 02:54:00
See Original StoryThe Veterans Administration are getting bonuses in the tune of 3.8 million dollars, while soldiers are still waiting for payments.Freshman Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL), who serves on the House Veterans Affairs Committee, last week called for the resignation of VA Secretary Jim Nicholson. Hare and others are steaming over the latest reports that $3.8 million in bonuses were given to senior officials at the embattled Veterans Administration in 2006. Among those given bonuses?as much as $33,000 each?were regional directors who wrote the VA's faulty 2005 budget, which government investigators have concluded was laden with misleading accounting that included claiming for false savings of $1.3 billion. On Friday, Rep. John Hall, Democrat of New York, chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance, said he was introducing legislation that would freeze all future bonus payments to VA officials until the department cuts the backlog of veteran ...

Presidential Records Act May Be Extensive
2007-06-19 14:35:00
See Original StoryThe House Oversight Committee said Monday. E-mail records are missing for 51 of the 88 White House officials who had electronic message accounts with the Republican National Committee."Given the heavy reliance by White House officials on RNC e-mail accounts, the high rank of the White House officials involved, and the large quantity of missing e-mails," the report said, "the potential violation of the Presidential Record s Act may be extensive."This is what we get when WE the people allow a President to go unchecked by a Republican House and Senate. They have let this President and his Administration have its way with America and its laws.Republicans said there is no evidence that the law was violated or that the missing e-mails were of a government rather than political nature.Tony Snow said of the claim: "That's an allegation. What About The Immigration Bill?

They avoid paying minimum wage, payroll taxes, worker's compensation insurance, overtime and other legally mandated employee benefits, these Illegal Employers profit at the expense of taxpayers and honest Business owners. America has always had brave men and women who rose to the challenge when called to defend this country. That is why I am so angry at the conservative's, the Republican's, the Neo cons, the evangelical Christians , the chicken hawks, and even the media. Why, you ask? Because we allowed these people to threaten us as traitors if we spoke out against this war. We allowed these people to challenge anyone who had the will to speak out as not giving a true statement. We set back and allowed people to loose their jobs and their will to speak out in fear of being called traitors by these folks. Our consciousness has lost the ideal of freedom of speech, it know longer exist in this country because of this madness. On October 11 2002, the US House of Representatives authorized war-making powers to this President. The vote was 296-133 in favor in the Congress and 77 to 23 in the Senate. Congress agreed that the threat from Saddam Hussein caused them to give this President the right to go to war...

"Holy Cow Batman" Bush Don't Think Troops Need Bigger Pay Raises
2007-05-18 03:58:00
Troops don?t need bigger pay raises, Bush budget officials said the administration "strongly opposes" both the 3.5 percent raise for 2008 and the follow-on increases, calling extra pay increases "unnecessary."It was so necessary to get the billions to waste in Iraq, but not necessary to raise the pay for the troops. The Bush administration had asked for a 3 percent military raise for Jan. 1, 2008, enough to match last year?s average pay increase in the private sector. The House Armed Services Committee recommends a 3.5 percent pay increase for 2008, and increases in 2009 through 2012 that also are 0.5 percentage point greater than private-sector pay raises. The slightly bigger military raises are intended to reduce the gap between military and civilian pay that stands at about 3.9 percent today. Under the bill, HR 1585, the pay gap would be reduced to 1.4 percent after the Jan. 1, 2012, pay increase.Bush budget officials said the administration ?strongly opposes? both the 3.5 percent ...
