Time to Decide: Clinton or Obama?

Sorry I have been missing for a few days. I had a chance to escape for a brief vacation.It was a wonderful get away, that has caused me to reevaluate my positions on the coming election. I think anyone that reads this blog knew that I was leaning heavily towards Hillary Clinton as our next President. After this weekend, I can't say that for certain any more. I had a rather heated discussion with one of my closest and most respected friends that has caused me to really dig into the candidacy of both of the front runners. I do believe that they (Hillary Clinton & Barrack Obama ) are the only two in the current Democrat field who are serious contenders for the nomination. I am a fan of John Edwards , but for a variety of reasons see him as a flawed candidate with little realistic chance of earning the nomination.So...That leaves me in a choice of two. PA 5th Distict -- Demographic Considerations

According to the CDT, the 5th District in Pennsylvania has approximately 45K more registered Republicans than registered Democrats. Additionally, there are 43K that aren't registered with either party. I am not sure why this story is really relevant in this very big field of GOP candidates for the nomination of Peterson's seat? All I know is that the headline is "Republicans outnumber Democrats by 45,000 in District 5."I see no reason why that matters in the nomination process, as Republicans can only vote for Republicans, and Dems for Dems, in this state. This seems like a slanted rally cry from the CDT to motivate those (GOP) voters to go to the polls in the Centre Region. Why else would this be worth of mention? Elk County coroner and resident of Saint Marys, Lous Radkowski announced on Friday that he too was interested in the Pennsylvania 5th Congressional District seat, soon to be vacated by John Peterson.I am just floored by the level of interest in this Congressional seat.The only thing I can conclude is that, like the Presidential race, the GOP contenders don't like any of the options that have thus far been presented. I am losing count!As of this morning, the competition sat at 10 (possibly 11 for the seat); most of which are Republicans.Surely that is no surprise in this neck of the woods, but I find it very interesting that so many GOP candidates are getting into the race. That seems to me to be an indication of displeasure with many of the others that have already cast themselves into the fray. Maybe not, but what else can one conclude when the field continues to just get deeper and deeper as the day where's on.This morning the CDT was reporting that two new contenders were bringing the total interested in Peterson's seat up to 10. Everybody into the pool!At last count, I think we are up to six candidates for the respective party nominations. Four of the six are Republicans, and those are the ones I care most about. It's hard for me to get excited about a Democrat that is an Iraq vetran who seems interested in keeping us in Iraq? The other Democrat, is the Lock Haven Mayor -- Richard Vilello. I don't know too much about him at this moment, but I will surely be digging in to find out what he is all about. Within a week of the "condemnation" of Move On for the Betray Us ad, Rush Limbaugh attacks our fighting men and women (we are talking soldiers on the ground...Not in the Capitol Rotunda) by calling those that criticize the war in Iraq "phony soldiers."Last week a simple little (accurate) ad caused the full-on meltdown of our political process to call "foul" on this ad.This week, a major radio commentator...A person that reaches hundred of thousands more daily than any newspaper...Calls our fighting men and women "phony soldiers" if they don't agree with the so-called Iraq policy.Where are the Congressional votes to "condemn" now?I wish America was wise enough to see the double standard at work here. I wish America were even aware that they are once again being played. But how can it rightfully expect this of America when I can't even expect it of our Congress?The ad isn't what is condemned...It's our Constitution that's been condemned.
