Don’t Forget the Baby
2007-12-20 18:11:00 Last Sunday, our pastor delivered a message and spoke about how a couple, backing out of the driveway to a vacation destination, were going through a checklist to make sure that they hadn’t forgotten anything. They noted the usual - toiletries, clothing, an iron and even went through the list of everything they were supposed to cut off, like the stove and the curling iron. A little ways down the road, the woman suddenly shrieked in horror and cried to her husband in aching realization, “We forgot the baby!” Pastor Vic went on to explain that this is essentially what the world has done, as far as Christmas is concerned. We have forgotten the very reason that we celebrate this season - THE Baby ! THE Savior, Jesus Christ! It’s in this spirit that I offer a video. We had our Christmas Cantata last Sunday, December 16, 2007, and our Children’s Choir opened the evening with this song - “Happy Birthday, Jesus”. Its message is the very essence of t...
Huckabee’s Christmas Ad
2007-12-20 16:40:00 By now, you must have heard the fuss over the Mike Huckabee campaign ad that features a Christmas tree and a “floating cross” over his shoulder. Even some in the Public Relations department (wow) of the Catholic Church are up in arms over what they view as a purposeful attempt by Huckabee to bring subliminal Christian messages into his ad. In my view, this is just one more misinterpretation of the “separation of Church and State” aspect of the Constitution by the “offended” masses. First of all, I don’t think Huckabee’s message is subliminal at all! I think it’s out there, and I say, “Praise God!” It’s this simple; Mike Huckabee is running for President of the United States, and he is a Christian. If you don’t want to vote for him, DON’T VOTE FOR HIM! I even heard one talk show host compare Mike Huckabee to the Pharisees in the Bible, who flaunted their religion before men to elevate themselves ...
(Mis) Understanding the New “Morality”
2007-12-17 16:47:00 Did you ever study the type of math that used circles and was about how alike numbers of “entities” were grouped into these circles? Some of the circles overlapped each other, showing that those in the overlapping part shared certain aspects that the others didn’t share. Some circles were contained entirely within larger circles, meaning that, though the entire smaller circle shared an aspect with all in the larger circle, those outside the smaller circle shared an aspect that all those in the smaller circle did not possess. There were also circles that did not touch at all, meaning that the entities within shared no aspects whatsoever. OK, thoroughly confused yet? Although I have no idea what this area of math was called, I understand it, particularly where demographics and politics are concerned. Let me illustrate with the subject of “waterboarding”. Surely you’ve been keeping up with the news on the destroyed CIA recordings of the waterboardi... More About: Morality , Understanding , Ality
I’m Offended……….
2007-12-15 07:35:00 Have you noticed how the secular progressive world is offended by anything and everything Christian these days? It’s okay that we, as Christians, must navigate through this world and observe the secularism about us, without uttering one word - because our stated “offendedness” would itself offend others. Jonathan Falwell wrote this in an article titled “Merry C*****mas”: As our nation continues to drift into a state of secular monotony that guarantees that nobody is offended (unless you are a Christian), we are again witnessing many retailers deciding to abolish “Christmas” in favor of the “holiday season.” Because Jesus Christ – the Son of God who came to earth to save us – does not meet contemporary criteria for “diversity” and “multiculturalism,” the day that bears His name is becoming increasingly unacceptable. And yet these retailers that want to take advantage of the Christmas tradition of gift... More About: Offend
Okay, I’ll try again!
2007-12-12 01:29:00 I’ve lost three blogs of this title, and countless posts, due to other host’s unreliability and my own stupidity in not backing up the database. Not this time! So enjoy it, I know I’ll enjoy writing all of it! |
