Wanna Know if Your Neighbors Contributed to a Campaign?
2007-07-19 15:57:00 Just in case you thought there weren't enough ways that you had to "keep up those Jones" neighbors of yours, now you can even do so regarding campaign contributions. The New York Times has included an online feature that lists every campaign contributor to each presidential candidate. The list includes a cumulative total of the first and second quarter, which law states an individual can only donate $2,300 per quarter.I have made a contribution this past year to the Sen. Barack Obama campaign team, but was actually relieved to learn that only individuals who have contributed more than $200 would have their name listed on the site.So...ready to do a search by last name or zip code and find out who your neighbors are really supporting?!!?http://www.nytimes.com/ref/ us/politics/2008_EG_FINANCES.html &n bsp; More About: Fundraising , Campaign , Neighbors , Bute , Tribute

Congratulations to Sen. John McCain
2007-07-19 07:34:00 Congratulations is definitely in order for Sen. John McCain, who managed to last 5 days without any key members of his campaign team resigning, chief campaign members being arrested or going absolutely bankrupt!I suppose McCain will now believe he has a legitimate shot at winning the Republican nomination. Well, if he hadn't quit already, why do you think he'd drop out any time soon?!!? He's clearly going all the way.Not. More About: Humor , Ratu , John McCain , Congratulations
Back in Kansas City Following Iowa Trip
2007-07-19 07:31:00 I had a very pleasant weekend visiting different parts of Iowa , though the primary purpose of my trip was to attend a wedding in Tama, IA. I contributed in a previous blog about the interests of many Iowans to not be the focus of presidential candidates so early in this race. Though campaign strategists and volunteers who do not live in Iowa will definitely disagree, it is true. Nothing can be summed up more than a barn's rooftop located just east of Marshalltown, IA. It read in large painted letters, "Stay in Your State Hillary!" More About: Kansas City , Kansas , Back , City
Recent Trip to Iowa (Copy from last weekend)
2007-07-19 07:30:00 Yesterday I began my weekend-long trip to the Hawkeye State, visiting several small towns along the I-80 border. My girlfriend's family are life-long proud Iowa ns in Anita and then we'll be heading to Tama, IA to attend a friend's wedding. I always enjoy my trips to Iowa, partially because I have this preconceived notion that Iowans are perhaps the nicest people in the country (even nicer than you Texans!) Of course, the political junkie that I am, engaged in and listened in to several conversations regarding the presidential race. Initially, I let nobody know that I am a proud Obama supporter so I can gain an unbiased sense of conversation. Honestly, based on my early conversations, I don't think Iowans are happy and truly pleased to have so much political campaigning in their backyards. You have to remember, an Iowan is of humble background. They don't need media attention to define who they are. They don't need flashy, precedent-setting events to give them confidence that t... Obama Girl vs. Giuliani Girl
2007-07-19 07:28:00 OK, now it's getting a little old. Another viral YouTube video hit the internet recently, pitting the Obama Girl vs. a Giuliani girl. Sure enough, you can count on the fact that scantily clad women boosting their breasts could be seen, while shaking their booties around super-imposed photos of the "candidate of choice." Frankly, is this what America really digs? Younger women dressing like their out a club, singing of their crushes and approval of our presidential candidates? Can a woman not look any more presentable or convey a more professional image than young girls with crushes acting like young girls? Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong? Maybe I'm not? Either way, it's all grown a tad old and I hope that these themes can move to something else. Start some viral videos using animals, cartoons...anything but stereotypical images of women engaging in pillow fights. More About: Obama Girl

New Hampshire Latest Poll Results
2007-07-18 17:47:00 The University of New Hampshire Survey Center released their latest poll results, which shows a positive gain for Sen. Barack Obama, but voters still do not have confidence that Obama can defeat a Republican candidate. From the Los Angeles Times: Hillary Clinton, who's led her party's field for more than two years, slipped but still leads with 33% while Barack Obama has improved to 25% to close the gap from 14 points to 8. Bill Richardson remains in third with a steady 10% while John Edwards has plummeted from 21% in April to 12% in June and 8% now, the same as still-undeclared Al Gore. Joe Biden and Dennis Kucinich both have 3%. But there's still a lot of room--and time--before the primary. Only 10% of likely Democratic voters have firmly made up their minds, 26% are leaning toward one candidate and 64% are still thinking. Fully 47% believe Clinton has the best chance of beating the Republican candidate while only 17% believe Obama does. While it remains very early, some polls... More About: Results , Poll , Polls
Oprah to Host Fundraiser for Sen. Barack Obama
2007-07-18 17:29:00 From the LA Times: Invitations have been sent out for what promises to be a must-attend event for much of California's Democratic elite, particularly those in the entertainment industry: a Sept. 8 fundraiser for Barack Obama at Oprah Winfrey's home in the Santa Barbara area. In the best tradition of Hollywood, the e-mail touting the afternoon gathering doesn't mince words, promoting it as no less than "the most exciting Barack Obama event of the year anywhere ..." And the invite urges haste in responding, saying: "Please get back to us soon before it sells out." Getting in the door costs $2,300 --- the maximum individual contribution for the primary season. But, as is usually the case at such high-profile shindigs, there are incentives to gain a little extra face-time with the candidate. Those who can tap friends and relatives for contributions to Obama's presidential campaign that total at least $25,000 gain entree to a VIP reception; those responsible for at least $50,000 in ... Questions Surround Obama's Campaign Contribution Reports
2007-07-18 17:14:00 Here we go again, the media and Republicans, just can't figure out how/why Sen. Barack Obama has been able to claim such high numbers of campaign contribution dollars and contributors. Questions have begun to surface regarding the true amount collected and have just about stated their distrust of the reported figures.Sen. Obama has indicated the campaign team does also include merchandise sold as a form of campaign contribution dollars, but it should be noted this amounts to less than 1% of the actual amount reported the Obama campaign to have collected from contributors. It should also be noted three other presidential candidates also include merchandise in their reports: Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona; Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colorado; Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-California; and Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-OhioRepublicans and others just have to understand America is DEMANDING a political change in Washington D.C. Are You Burnt Out on Campaign '08 Yet?
2007-07-09 16:52:00 Fatigue. Burn out. This is exactly what many will fear most voters will face weeks/months before ever stepping into the voting booth. The New York Times ran an interesting piece about how the average American voter is actually growing increasingly burnt-out on the excessive "in-your-face" political coverage of the 2008 presidential election. A barrage of cameras and media events seem to be scheduled across the country in every nook-and-cranny. And those poor folks in Iowa. Man, can you imagine a city like Des Moines that boasts having the lowest commute time in America, innundated with traffic now because of all the campaign workers and related officials strolling around their streets?Truthfully, I just have a feeling that most Americans are so interested in a change from the Bush administration, that they have helped fuel this early optimism by showing major support for a new candidate, ANY new candidate. Sen. Barack Obama's Personal Fundraising Message
2007-07-03 06:14:00 A lot of people are talking about money today. It?s true -- together we raised a significant amount over the past few months. And your generosity is what will make it possible to mount a winning campaign. For that, I cannot thank you enough. But the money isn?t the whole story. The most extraordinary and deeply humbling result is the people -- more than 258,000 of you -- who have taken ownership of this campaign. A number that big is a thunderclap over the political process. It means our campaign has more supporters than any campaign in history at this point in an election, and it?s a wake-up call to our current politics. It means ordinary people are coming together in unprecedented numbers to take back their government. It means you are defying the pundits and Washington insiders, rejecting their cynicism and negativity, and embracing the hope that we can change things for the better. It means we are building a movement so big, so deep, and so personal that our collective voice... More About: Personal , Fundraising , Barack , Message , Persona
Sen. Brarack Obama Raises $32.5 million in 2nd Quarter
2007-07-02 17:48:00 No Democratic presidential candidate has ever raised that much, not even the "top dog" Sen. Hillary Clinton.$32.5 million?!!?That number is absolutely amazing. In the first quarter a total of 104,000 contributors made a donation to the campaign, now dwarfed by the present contributor tally at 154,000 in the second quarter. This should only give great optimism to Sen. Obama . ?...together, we have built the largest grassroots campaign in history for this stage of a Presidential race. We now have hundreds of thousands of Americans who are ready to demand health care for all, energy independence, and an end to this war in Iraq. That?s the kind of movement that can change the special interest-driven politics in Washington and transform our country. And it?s just the beginning.? More About: Political News , Million , Quarter

Poll: America's Younger Generations Leaning to Left; Voting Dem
2007-06-27 16:27:00 The Times/CBS News/MTV group conducted a phone poll of America's younger voting population, ages 17-29, last week. It's findings are very interesting, suggesting America's younger generation is further distancing themselves from the Republican party and favoring social/political issues associated with the liberal, Democratic platforms. Now before I go any further, let's dispel a few myths. - Younger voters are NOT always solely liberal voters. History shows it was the youth vote that turned out in then-record numbers to help re-elect Ronald Reagan to office. This high overall number, and percentage of overall voters considering themselves Republicans, also helped elect George Bush to office in 1988.- Younger voters are ALWAYS against war-time Presidents. Wrong again, contrary to conventational wisdom Presidents during war-time actually receive the highest approval ratings from younger generations. (Wild, eh?!!?)OK, now that we have that out of ... The Chicago Factor: Obama vs. Clinton
More articles from this author:2007-06-26 17:26:00 There's no hiding the fact--I'm a true-Chicago boy. Always will be too, doesn't matter how many years I left my family and friends back in the Windy City, I'm a Chicago boy at heart and soul. But the same can't be said of Sen. Hillary Clinton , who actually grew up about 5 minutes north of where I did in the near Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Clinton, a graduate of Maine East High School in Park Ridge, IL claims she was born-and-raised a Chicago Cubs fan (not all that uncommon if you grow up on the north side of the city). But several years back when she was still in the planning stages of launching her own political career, she went on record saying "New York is her home and she has always loved the Yankees." What?!!? The Yankees?? New York is home?? Are you honestly kidding me? I guess Chicago again lives up to its "Second City" status, as New York was able to steal a Democratic political party heavyweight right from underneath us...
