ABBAS SURVIVES NO CONFIDENCE
2007-04-26 11:20:00 The session of the Special Majlis to debate the case of the petition submitted by 26 members calling for a vote of no-confidence on Majlis Speaker Abba s Ibrahim began around 9am this morning and ended in surprising result for many reformists. The petition was lodged after Mr. Abbas Ibrahim prevented debate on lowering voting age to 18 for an upcoming referendum, defying a resolution of the house steering committee. The steering committee of the Constituent Assembly on 19 March had passed a resolution to advise the Speaker Abbas Ibrahim for house deliberations to lower the voting age from 21 to 18 prior to the impending referendum to choose a system of governance.Heavy debates were taken place during this session as some DRP (the government party) members said that the petition does not state the real cause of the problem and cannot be voted.MDP and the Yamin faction seemed very confident that they will push Abbas out of the chair. However a total of 49 votes were not enough to win th... More About: Confidence , Survive , Vive

SEE NO EVIL - HEAR NO EVIL
2007-04-24 15:20:00 For years Maldivian were given a complimentary eye test called ?fenna nufenna vote?. Yes or No election to elect the president of the Maldives. There were many practices followed in this very joyous time which comes every 5 years. People try to take advantage of this very special year. They build there house by getting free loans, some buy fishing vessels or free petrol for one month. Others buy text book for their children?s education free of charge through the atoll office, others get free medical from overseas. Some islands get more noticed during the 5th year. They get new harbors, a new fish market, Couple of computer to the island school, maybe an engine to generate electricity in the island. And the good thing is all of this is provided to the people by the loving dictator Gayoom. Now that the political parties have come to position and there are ?few? people against the regime Gayoom has found it difficult to govern the country in Maldives. CONFUSION OVER POST MORTEM
2007-04-21 17:51:00 The post mortem which was completed today and the report which have been handed over to the Maldives High Commission with strict instructions for the sealed envelope to be opened in the presence of Salah's family and Maldives Police have been opened without knowledge of the Salah family. The findings were reported by Dr Shaheed who is with Gayoom in Singapore. Speaking from 1560 miles away from Colombo Dr Shaheed say the post mortem has ruled out ?violence? as the cause of death. There is a toxicology report waiting to find the exact time of death. People are already asking for an explanation on the marks found on his legs and face. As the family was later asked to accept a copy of the report they have rejected it stating foul play. Still many questions arise as the speed of the report was a breakthrough in post mortem history. Usually it takes 24 hours for a post mortem report to be completed. And as the government has been defiant in this case at the last moment also they hav... POLICE SHOWS EVIDENCE
2007-04-21 15:21:00 Police shows evidence of salah being freed. This picture shows the document police say salah has put the finger print and signed in it. Let?s analyze this.=>There is no header in the document. The police even can?t claim its there?s because of this. Putting a header is a must in all government documents. That is the official law.=>It has no date in it. Not clear when he has signed it.=>The place where the national identity card number should be is not filled. A must in all official documents such as this.=>The place where the brief is written has no lines. All other place has got lines.=>The whole document is pre printed except the areas to be filled.=>The name of the police officer who filled the form is not mentioned.=>It doesn?t state that Salah has been let free. It only states that all the items which were taken on arrest have been received. And that nobody in the male? custodial have harmed him physically or mentally. More About: Evidence , Police , Poli

GRAND WELCOME FOR GAYOOM - AWAITING
2007-04-17 10:20:00 There is huge public outrage on the death of Salah. The ruling party (DRP) is breathing on machine. There police are finding it difficult to control the situation. Senior government employees threaten to quit the regime. And now the big question. Where is the president? Where is Gayoom?Well he is now enjoying a worry free day at the exclusive Grand Hyatt Hotel in Singapore. Giving US$ 3500+ per day almost 50,000 Maldivian rufiyaa - equal to the salary of 33 government staff. That?s not all. What about his Food expenses, Security, Shopping, Travel? where does all this money come from. Its all from the Tax we pay. Don?t get surprised, when I say tax. I meant the tax which is hidden so much that we are forced to believe we don?t pay any tax. We pay tax for the teeny weenie needle we buy so there is no confusion in it, right.Phew. So much money. NO VISIBLE INJURIES - ARE WE BLIND
2007-04-16 06:10:00 Yes. A picture says a thousand words, but which words. These pictures which have been taken yesterday completely contradict from what the cyanided television report. Even the police have said that there were no visible signs of injury. One pro regime website went to the extent of examining the pictures putting circle and writing all over the place to prove that he was not tortured. Ok, fine he was not tortured or killed by the police. Then why such a big fuss on giving more evidence which we could believe. Cum'on how can the police say they have released him if nobody heard of him ?since he was released?.DO reported the throwing of the body to the sea would have been a get away by ?inside? the police and not many know about it. Maybe only a handful of police knows what really happened. The government was quick to announce that Salah was a drug addict and that he was brought to police several times. Hmm... That?s not good. IS IT ANOTHER POLICE MURDER
2007-04-15 15:48:00 After reading all the news and having a through look at the pictures. There is high possibility he was tortured before he was thrown to the sea. Remember im not telling the police did it. Still evidence suggests they could have done that. If the police say they have arrested him that means he was in custody. And they have openly said he was under custody till 13. They also say that the police contacted the parent of Salah where the parents have asked the police to bring him to addu where he was taken.Nobody heard of him after that. What do you think? If the parents want a post mortem to be done why not assist it. I know Maldives doesn?t have the required brains but why not keep him in the mortuary until such experience personal are brought in. and why is the police in such a hurry to bury the tortured victim. Big question and such little answer. Gayoom is still doing his shopping in Singapore. Will he come back? Will there be an investigation? Would it be another September 19? MAVOTA : CAN HE SURVIVE
2007-04-15 08:39:00 Hello Mavota!!! Well not anymore. These days he has been really busy, not by propagating for referendum but busy in hiding himself, scared of what might happen to him. As of last night when I read the breaking news in adduobserver it didn?t take me long to identify who is the centre of evil. Yes Mavota. If not for him lets say nothing would have happened. Ok but not to that extent. He has been labeled as a bad mouthed, indecent, unethical, much like a radio frequency. You?ll never know whether it there or not.The people of addu have clearly spoken, what he need to do now is resign. Not from the party or parliament, but from politics. I see no place for him in the future. He will not succeed in any lection. Yes any election. He would not have any support from DRP or any other party, because of his actions. Stop giving thought Mavota becoming a minister, Gayoom has enough and more people he can trust more than Mavota. More About: Survive , Vota , Vive
A REGIME ONES ALWAYS A REGIME
2007-04-14 06:35:00 Several resignations from the DRP and the government have proved the public that the regime is failing and is counting its very last days or is it. Let analyze what happening around here.First there is a voting issue, whether to allow people of age between 18 and 21 to vote in the upcoming referendum. DRP which is the government knows for sure they don?t have majority in this age group which is why they are trying to avoid it by filibuster techniques. Secondly, getting hold of hard-line anti government people lilke Mavota Shareef. But does that really make a change. Not within the government. Thirdly his own brother gives resignation with all his people.Shall we make a story so it will be very logical?Gayoom after visiting addu have come to sense that he wont be able to win any votes from there. Keeping this as a base of decision he buys mavota shareef. Now he thinks he can win addu peoples vote. Then there come the voting issue, he cant allow his people go to the majlis and simply ... Look at this its ?Minister of High Educating, Welfare, Yameen Abdul Gayyoom? what the hell happened to ?Raagondi Raajaa?.Beware, this is nothing more than an orchestrated scenario by golhaabo, he is making sure if not him atleast his brother gets the throne. PROTEST EFFECTIVELY AND LONGER
2007-04-07 07:29:00 The technique noted in this post is to increase the length of time that you can remain at the site of an action and therefore hopefully increase the effectiveness of your protest. If you have nothing else to hand then the best thing you have is your own body weight. Sitting or lying down makes it much more difficult for security or police to push or move you away from the place where you want to be.Passive resistance is an age old protest technique used to slow down your removal from a protest once you have been arrested. To some people it's an ideological statement about not cooperating with the authorities. Essentially you simply relax your muscles so that you go limp. Best to do this when you're already sitting or lying, though you can passively resist from standing if you're willing to take a fall! By totally relaxing you make it much more difficult for the police to get a good grip of you and to carry you. Instead of being walked away by one officer, you will now have to... DEMOCRATIC DICTATORSHIP

Fine examples of ruthless dictators all? and all loonies!Well, so far not yet. But there?s still plenty of time. Let?s see, what other fun things, aside from a whole lotta killin?, mark a person as a dictator?-Dictators often claim special authorization from higher powers.-Dictators have fetishes for certain objects .-Dictators like extravagant ceremonies.-Dictators like to work in secrecy.-Dictators like to promote themselves.-Dictators are not known for their tact.-Dictators travel with large entourages to protect them.-Often, graven images are made o... MALDIVES: GOVERNMENT AND THE GOVERNMENT
2007-04-06 08:07:00 The law limits citizens' ability to change their government, and the strong executive exerted significant influence over both the legislature and the judiciary. Under the constitution the People's Majlis, or legislature, chooses a single presidential nominee, who must be a Sunni Muslim male, from a list of self-announced candidates for the nomination. Would-be nominees for president are not permitted to campaign for the nomination. The final nominee is confirmed or rejected by secret ballot in a nationwide referendum. From a field of four initial candidates in 2003, the legislature nominated and confirmed President Gayoom by referendum for a sixth five-year term. All citizens over 21 years of age may vote.By both law and custom, the Office of the President is the most powerful political institution in the country, and the law designates the president as the "supreme authority to propagate the tenets" of Islam. The president's mandate to appoint eight of the 50 members of the legis... GAYOOM'S POLICY ON DRUGS
2007-04-04 14:24:00 HistoryIn 1993 the first case of heroin was detected. With the introduction of heroin, drug abuse among the young age group escalated dramatically. The first major seizure of cocaine was made in September 1993 at Malé International Airport when 8 kilograms of cocaine was found concealed in the false bottom of suitcases in the possession of a foreign national. In1997, three Maldivians were discovered to have orchestrated an attempt to smuggle in 1,372 grams of hashish oil in seven professionally packed cans of corned beef while they were about to board a flight to Malé from Trivandrum Airport. In 1998, over 450 arrests were made for drug abuse and related offences. For a small country like the Maldives, these were alarming trends. Current TrendsDespite this, even in 2006 the Maldivian authorities reported that, The problem of drug-related offences have become the most frequent one faced by the Maldivian criminal courts, showing a 200 % increase in recent years. You're Guilty Until Proven More Guilty
2007-04-03 06:35:00 As Maldivian citizens, we've all been brought up with the notion that we actually have some rights, and that we are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, with the Maldives crime situation the way it is, the politicians have whittled down our rights to a very slender minimum. At the same time, the police have been given additional rights that would likely surprise or even shock the average person. The end result of all this is an unfortunate lop-sided justice system that actually favors experienced criminals, while punishing the innocent. This is antithetical to the original purpose of our rights. The rights we think are intended to protect the innocent while punishing the guilty with a fair hand of justice. In our current system, experienced criminals learn the inside secrets of the police and prosecutorial system as they get arrested and hassled again and again. They build up a resistance to police investigation and interrogation tactics, and are then less likely to ... More About: More , Guilt , Rove , Guilty , Oven

If you are hurt, you should see a doctor as soon as possible for help and to preserve medical evidence. If there are visible injuries or other damage, take color pictures right away. Dr [like] Shaheed
2007-04-02 06:53:00 I just can’t stop laughing at Dr (like) Shah eed’s comments on changing the voting age limits to people of age 18 and above. What a bogus joke. But one thing they have made clear is that they also believe if the voting right are given to the young people it will be the biggest failure to the regime. A chance they don’t even want to dream of.But look at the bright side a young adult of the age 18 can be sentence to any crime or civil wrong. He or she can get married. Yeah you have all the right accept you can’t choose your leader. Their excuse, “the current law doesn’t allow”.What can they do? For gods sake do you have to think that much. Just change it. Will ya. Who said the peoples majlis can’t change it. They are kept there to make it right. Do we have to teach that also? If you don’t know the basic Shaheed, just shut up and resign. More About: Like

Our president’s beauty products are more than skin-deep, instead of the usual cosmetic form of botulinum toxin formula he is now penetrating the epidermis to release vitamins and other healing agents to hide is age and remove those wrinkles. Sources say that the trips he usually takes to Singapore is mainly for this reason. He also uses Nano-encapsulation which increase shelf life, reduce color and to protect the skin from prolonged exposure to heat. the other skin care he uses is Nano-emulsion make the skin look even younger than ever. MALDIVE HEALTH
2007-03-31 06:21:00 A quick look at the Maldives health sector. Don’t be surprised. Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) are one of the most common causes of morbidity. The number of ARI cases reported has increased sharply during the last few years. The number of reported cases increased by 48% during 1996-2000. A total of 19349 cases were reported throughout the country in 2004, and it is the second major cause of death in the hospital. There is also a striking difference in the number of ARI cases reported from Male’ as compared to the atolls. This suggests that ARI is associated with congested urban living conditions, as well as with environmental factors, such as pollution from increased construction activity. The incidence of viral fever is the second highest cause of morbidity, with 11510 cases reported throughout 2006. There has been no major outbreak of dengue haemorrhagic fever since 1998. However, sporadic cases have been reported in the past 2-3 years. During 2002, 55 cases of dengue fever... INSIDE THE PALACE-A SHORT STORY
2007-03-30 14:21:00 Isn’t common sense very uncommon nowadays? When people start to write e report or an article isn’t it obvious he should at least think of what the public might say, whether it would be positive reaction or a “death certificate” he or she is writing. That is only if the person has a cause tagged behind. Let’s keep this topic by the side for a while. Let’s check out how our buddy is doing. A very reliable source inside from the palace says that our beloved president is having more than dementia. He says that gayoom now goes to the palace kitchen at night softly whistling to beat. Something he has never done in the past 27 years. Seems he also uses to walk at night inside the palace just for no reason. He could be out of mind, but I can’t confirm this cause sources inside the palace are fictitious. Another source has sworn by the book that gayoom himself wet his pants at least twice in front of his eyes. Once when he was in addu and the other time when he came from addu, t... Fishing Industry and the Maldives
2007-02-28 14:54:00 Maldivian are always made to believe that tourism industry is the hen which lays the golden egg. True it may be so but I have a different prospect. I say fishing industry are the oil wells in Maldives . I know it sound silly. But check this out. A kilo of Maldives tuna in the European market can be sold at a price higher than a barrel of petrol. Why?Because, Maldives is located in zone52 and zone 53 of the world marine chart. This is the area where the salt level is at a standard level and the contamination is least. The tuna found in this area have high protein and does not move out of the zone. The tuna found in this area have been tested to last longer in freshness out of water and taste much better than any other tuna caught elsewhere. As a result if the fish packaging says Zone 52 or 53 its will be sold at a higher price. That’s why some package from Sri Lanka and East Asia has “Maldives tune” written on their back. So why is the government so silent in this highly profita... More About: Industry , Fishing , Fish , Shin

Hence he was asked to give away some cheques to different companies and get the money and a side business be operated. Thinking of a huge sum in return for this great deal, Athif invested in companies which had his share. Later only it turned out there was no money to pay for it.
