SUPREME COURT PACKING
2007-07-29 00:52:00
STACKING THE COURT WHEN THINGS AREN'T GOING THEIR WAYLiberals will stop at nothing, folks . . . nothing. Not only does a left wing writer in the New York (Leftist) Times support adding a few liberals to the US Supreme Court , but he also goes on to threaten the current court because they aren't being activist enough! Dig:"Still, there is nothing sacrosanct about having nine justices on the Supreme Court. Roosevelt’s 1937 chicanery has given court-packing a bad name, but it is a hallowed American political tradition participated in by Republicans and Democrats alike. If the current five-man majority persists in thumbing its nose at popular values, the election of a Democratic president and Congress could provide a corrective. It requires only a majority vote in both houses to add a justice or two. Chief Justice John Roberts and his conservative colleagues might do well to bear in mind that the roll call of presidents who have used this option includes not just Roosevelt but also Ada...

NEWS THAT'S SURE TO DRIVE THE LEFT OUT OF THEIR MINDS
2007-07-27 23:47:00
We received this via e-mail from GOP USA (Emphasis by the original moonbat slayers):Dear Republican,The eight most recent public polls show the President's job approval is rising while approval of Congress is plummeting. The four polls that measured job approval for both the President and Congress show the President's ratings are higher. Surveys show Americans give high marks to the economy and that the GOP is regaining its lead on taxes while voters reject Congressional Democrats on earmarks and pork.Polls show that on Iraq, voters reject Democrats' calls for immediate withdrawal, clearly recognize the consequences of defeat, and are waiting for General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker to report in September. As voters see signs that the surge is working in Baghdad and Anbar, optimism is increasing with more people believing the war was the right thing to do and that the war is going better. The more people see the clear differences between the policies of Republicans and Democrats...

PAUL SUPPORTERS NEED TO GIVE UP THE HOPELESS CAUSE -
2007-07-25 00:40:00
CLIMB ON BOARD WITH FRED!(cross posted with the Headless Thompson Gunners)Recently, a few of the Ron Paul flakes (presumably from the internet's resident looney bin),have peppered this blog and the Gunners with such wild-eyed dribble as;The neocons are done. The only way the GOP can win the next election is tochange course. The GOP must nominate a candidate with a stronger anti-war recordthan any Democrat. That is the only way they can win.The base of the GOP hasbeen shrinking. In order to win the election in 2008, the GOP needs to attractDemocrats, independents, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, etc. The ONLYcandidate who has proven he can do that is Ron Paul.Quotes such as this make one seriously question the writer's sanity. Nevertheless, America's most accurate pollster- Rasmussen Reports- released some very damning numbers for the Paul camp.First, in any hypothetical matchup vs the Top 3 Democrats, Paul fails to garner even 35% support. This polling is based on premise that ...

"BLIND, UNEDUCATED AND EASY TO LEAD...."
2007-07-22 11:03:00
Those were the terms used to describe the so-called angry, white males that elected the Republicans to congressional majority status in 1994. It was absurd, to say the least.Yet, that Republican congress balanced the budget 7 consecutive times (until the Clinton recession and 9/11) and passed almost all the tenants of the Contract with America. They also passed the capital gains tax relief that caused the economy to take off and saved the endangered Clinton Presidency. It was a congress with purpose and focus. It was driven by optimism and doing what was right. In the end, they chose to do the right thing even though it meant slick willy would take the credit for it.Then, in 2001-2003, under the leadership of President Bush, they passed resolutions of war and security and tax relief to get a beleaguered country back on it's feet again. Six years later, we have not been hit by another terror attack, two democracies are emerging in the middle east, the economy is the best it has ever ...

THE OFFICIAL LUNATIC PARTY
2007-05-06 04:20:00
Anyone coming to the conclusion that there is no discernible difference between the Republicans and Democrats, needs to take a gander at a new Rasmussen Reports poll.If the question is "Did President Bush have prior knowledge of the 911 attacks?", the questionee should take more than 10 seconds to;Overcome the shock generated by the sheer absurdity of such a question.Shoot a look of absolute incredulity, or laugh out loud.Answer "Hell no, you stupid (expletive deleted)", or walk away, refusing to even justify the question with an answer.Any person that would even consider "yes"...or even "maybe" as a plausible answer to such a ridiculous question needs to be locked up in a rubber room and put on heavy sedation.Now...the shocking results...A jaw dropping 61% of Democrats are not able to rule out the possibility that George W Bush knew- in advance- of the 911 attacks. Included in that number are 35% that answer "yes" to that ludicrous question. That is really scary stuff.Republicans ar...

A NEWT ONE IS PROUD OF THE NEW FORMAT
2007-05-06 01:19:00
A Newt One shut down recently on the joyous news that Blogger had finally solved the dreaded 200 type is an 8 bit binary bug. We decided that if we were going to go through the trouble of changing our address back to our server, we might as well revamp the entire thing. It is certainly more convienient and secure to have our own address, but it is means that all of our site feeds, blogrank site registrations, trackbacks, blogrolls and archives will become useless. In short, it means starting over from scratch. That's no problem because building it up is the funnest part of the process. So, we decided to strip the whole thing down and start over. We concentrated on functionality, ease of navigation and security against unhinged bus driver types.Speaking of Billy boy, yes, we did get quite a chuckle out of seeing the little flower crowing about hw he had chased us off the net. (As if that little sissy could strike fear in anyone's heart.) Trust me when I say that Billy Boy has never had...

The Beatles, Forever
2007-02-23 23:24:15
Something off-politics for a change of pace...I was inspired to look around on the internet and found bits of the rooftop concert from the film Let It Be (which has never been released on DVD officially - pisses me off to no end!) If you have never seen the film, it is absolutely unreal. The rooftop concert, albeit short, remains my favorite concert film of all time. They made it look so easy to pick up instruments and be the beatles... Finding this stuff is like finding buried treasure.Don't Let Me DownUunbelievable. Keep one eye on McCartney's bass playing. He provided the blue print for all bass playing in rock music to come. There's a scene where you can see the cameraman lying on his back facing John; There's some smiling between John and Paul over the lyrics (Ooh she done me, she done me good); Keyboard player is the late/great Billy Preston; they all looked so happy to be playing. The Beat les loved to play, even in the midst of tumult. Here's a few more, and you can fin...

KNIGHT PREDICTS SENATE MONTANA RACE MOMENTUM
2007-02-23 23:24:15
Reports of Conrad Burn's political death appear to have been greatly exagerated and hopes of a Democratic Senate are fast fading from view.Down by as many as 14 points in this race, Burns has rallied back as conservative in this very red state have begun coming home........exactly as we predicted.Burns has closed to within 3 points (inside the polls margin of error). The senatorial balance of power, which had peaked at 49 Democrats 49 Republicans 2 tossups, now shows 47 Democrats 48 Republicans and 5 tossups. Control for the Dems means winning 4 of the 5- Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, New Jersey and Montana . Of the 5, I predict the Dems will win only New Jersey....and even that won't be easy for them.Conceding New Jersey and Maryland as Democratic holds, and adding Pennsylvania, Ohio and Rhode Island as pickups, the Dems will do +3 at the absolute best. That leaves them at a 52-47 minority. In the House, new polls show Republicans ahead in Connecticut 2, Indiana 7, New York 20, Flo...

IS SURVEY USA PICKING UP GOP MO?
2007-02-23 23:24:15
Taking an objective approach, I am strongly tempted to show the new Survey USA poll- showing Republican Michael Steele tied with Ben Cardin at 46-46 in Maryland's Senate race- as an outlier.A bluer than blue state in a heated political atmosphere. Thinking Steele could be tied is just wishful thinking. The end, right? There is only one problem. In 2004, Survey USA was America's 2nd most accurate pollster, picking the correct winner 96.6% of the time. It's hard not to stand up and notice that kind of performance, considering that Gallup hit at less than 55% and all the network pollsters- NBC/Newsweek, CBS, ABC, CNN, Fox.... failed to do even that well.Cardin struggling in Maryland? Along with Menendez struggling in New Jersey and Cantwell in Washington?Let's just say that it doesn't bode well for the Democratic wave prospects.

October 18, 2006Why The White House Has To Be OptimisticPerhaps the biggest danger to Republicans in the wake of all these bad polls is that their volunteer base, so critical to victory in 2004, won't put their heart in their work. If volunteers become convinced that Republicans will lose control of Congress, what incentive do they have to work hard?If you're ever read a profile of Ken Mehlman, you know he is obsessed with metrics. For him, one of the most important sources of data is a weekly e-mail his political team prepares called the "Weekly Grassroots Report." It meticulously records the work of tens of thousands of volunteers in targeted states, counties and congressional districts across the country. The data summary allows the RNC to determine which states are meeting goals and which states are falling behind. The RNC declined to share the most recent report, which was issued Monday. But two independent sources who saw last week's report professed to be surprised: not onl...

BIG CHANGES IN STORE FOR YOUTUBE
2007-02-23 23:24:15
From The Wall Street Journal & AOL Money and Finance:"According to the Wall Street Journal, billionaire Mark Cuban's assessment of the legal liabilities facing YouTube , and now Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG), could be spot on. Three media companies have aligned their interests as holders of video copyrights and their attorneys believe that YouTube could be on the hook for billions of dollars in infringement costs. [Emphasis A Newt One] News Corporation (NYSE:NWS), NBC Universal and Viacom, Inc. (NYSE:VIA) have come to the conclusion that each of their videos posted at YouTube could garner $150,000 in fees for distribution of copyrighted material. Viacom believes that video from its sites, including MTV, may be watched 80,000 times a day.Time Warner Inc. (NYSE: TWX) is looking at the same issues, but on its own and independent from the new, three-party group. But not so fast. YouTube is a platform. But it is not the source of the videos posted on the platform. It is unclear how the c...

THE PARTISAN BLADE CUTS BOTH WAYS
2007-02-23 23:24:15
Pollsters John Zogby and Scott Rasmussen have both predicted that Democratic Senator Robert Menendez will defeat Republican Tom Kean jr in New Jersey's Senate race. There is almost nothing in the internal race numbers to support their conclusion. The horserace lead has changed 6 times and now, barely 3 weeks from election day, Menendez is polling a pathetic 42%. Even when 'leaners' are included, Menendez cannot reach 45%, much less 50. His unfavorable number is a bewildering 46%. The Senator's favorable/unfavorable ratio is -1 while Kean's stands at +8.An incumbent polling 8 points below even, with a favorable/unfavorable ratio 9 points worse than his challenger and disliked by half the voters in his state?Toast?Absolutely and without a shred of a doubt....... in an ordinary election. So, how is it that both Zogby and Rasmussen have counted Kean out and predicted Menendez the victor, even as their own numbers show this as one of the two closest Senate races in America? Why do the n...

NEW NETWORK TELEVISION TO ENJOY
2007-02-23 23:24:15
Here are a few new shows I've taken a great liking to - and I had grown to hate network television. The show that got me back on TV was Law & Order - all three versions. This year, after losing some ground to cable television, the networks are obviously fighting back. The best material is on NBC, but CBS has some good programs as well. ABC has to be the worst, and lately Fox seems to be trying to hard. The New CW? Please...STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIPSupposedly, I have some live music photography on the walls of the set, but I have yet to run into them. I'm always getting distracted by the show itself! Matthew Perry is brilliant - he steals every scene he's in. I have truly enjoyed the pacing, the writing, the plot twists. For the NBC Studio 60 site, click here.HEROESGritty, raw, tough, interesting, suspenseful... this has got it all. Quite a show, I'm truly impressed. Great character and plenty of time to develop them all very well. A good cast, and great writing. Shocking at...

HARRY REID IS GOING DOWN FAST
2007-02-23 23:24:15
Here we go - a big run down on what is available on the internet. The Associated Press, much to their credit, broke the story and Rush Limbaugh read it on Monday I believe. Democrats are NOT calling for Harry to step down, but they should. What do you bet they'll rally to his defense??"Reid , not Hastert, should step down; That?s the conclusion of A.J. Strata, who examines the complex maneuvers whereby Harry Reid walked away with a over a million dollar profit on a land deal, following government decisions which suddenly added enormous value to the property in question."--americanthinker.com"Reid got $1M for land he didn?t own By ASSOCIATED PRESS - October 11, 2006 WASHINGTON (AP) ? Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid collected a $1.1 million windfall on a Las Vegas land sale even though he hadn?t personally owned the property for three years, property deeds show. In the process, Reid did not disclose to Congress an earlier sale in which he transferred his land to a company created ...

from Rasmussen Reports.....President Bush Job Approval October 12, 2006 Photo Courtesy of whitehouse.gov Forty-four percent (44%) of Americans approve of the way that George W. Bush is performing his role as President. Fifty-five percent (55%) disapprove. These figures include 22% who Strongly Approve and 40% who Strongly Disapprove. Today?s Job Approval rating is the President?s highest in October. It remains to be seen whether this reflects significant change or is merely statistical noise. The Rasmussen Consumer Index, a daily measure of the economic confidence of consumers, reached its highest level in more than two years today. The Rasmussen Investor Index is at the highest level since January 2004. RAGE WITHOUT REASON AND CHANGE FOR THE SHEER SAKE OF CHANGE?
2007-02-23 23:24:15
Republicans are being warned to brace for the coming storm. If you believe the experts, there will be a Democratic House. Not could be, or may likely be, will be.Granted, many have been predicting it all year. However, in the last week, Charlie Cook, Larry Sabato, Fred Barnes, Frank Luntz, and Scott Elliott have all stated that, for the first time this year, the Dems have the seats needed to take the House.Cook says that a Category 5 hurricane is bearing down on the GOP, Luntz says that any Republican not facing the reality of a Democratic House is in denial and Nancy Pelosi is being called 'Speaker Pelosi'.Well......"Let me be the first to call you Mr. President".~Bob Shrum to John F Kerry on the morning on November 2nd, 2004.It is not that I do not respect Cook, Sabato, Luntz and company, I do, I really do. Further, it is not that I am one of these rightwing idealogues who cannot see the proverbial forest for the trees.......or has too much selfish pride to admit the writing on ...
