New poll reveals how unrepresentative neocon Jewish groups are
2007-12-13 20:16:00
A new survey of American Jewish opinion, released by the American Jewish Committee, demonstrates several important propositions: Right-wing neocons (the Bill Kristol/Commentary/ AIPAC/Marty Peretz faction) who relentlessly claim to speak for Israel and for Jews generally hold views that are shared only by a small minority of American Jews; Viewpoints that are routinely demonized as reflective of animus towards Israel or even anti-Semitism are ones that are held by large majorities of American Jews; and Most American Jews oppose U.S. military action in the Middle East -- including both in Iraq and against Iran.Glenn Greenwald - Political Blogs and Opinions - Salon

Turkey, Kurds, 3 Years Ago!
2007-11-15 21:10:00
This is not new...but now that everybody's getting all tense, it's worth reading again. At the moment, the former American senior intelligence official said, the Israelis’ tie to Kurdistan “would be of greater value than their growing alliance with Turkey . ‘We love Turkey but got to keep the pressure on Iran.’ ” The former Israeli intelligence officer said, “The Kurds were the last surviving group close to the United States with any say in Iraq. The only question was how to square it with Turkey.”...A third Turkish official told me that the Israelis were “talking to us in order to appease our concern. They say, ‘We aren’t doing anything in Kurdistan to undermine your interests. Don’t worry.’ ” The official added, “If it goes out publicly what they’ve been doing, it will put your government and our government in a difficult position. We can tolerate ‘Kurdistan’ if Iraq is intact, but nobody knows the future—not even the Americans.”June 28, 200...

Kucinich on the 30,000 pound bomb
2007-11-09 22:09:00
“Defense analysts have suggested that there is one reason and one reason only why this request was expedited by the Administration and that is retrofit these B-2 bombers so that they’ll be able to drop 30,000-pound bombs on Iranian nuclear research facilities,” Kucinich said.“We cannot approve the Department of Defense Appropriations Conference Report without thinking about the consequences of the Administrations’ approach. If 30,000 pound bombs – bunker busters – are dropped on nuclear research labs, the release of radiation would create a humanitarian and ecological disaster.“This is a war crime in motion. Dropping the bunker busters would have human health effects that could be catastrophic.KucinichWarns of a A War Crime in Motion

Saudi's mistake in Lebanon
2007-11-01 09:33:00
The Saudis vested their influence in Lebanon in the former prime minister, Rafik Hariri. When he was assassinated, they lost their channel for influence and watched as Iran - which invested in building an institution, Hezbollah - saw its influence grow. Saudi officials now say that Iran was smarter, because even if someone were to kill the charismatic leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, Iran's influence in Lebanon would carry on through the institution.Similarly, the United States has vested its interests in Mubarak, while directing most of its aid dollars to the Egyptian military. Mubarak has not always been the perfect ally, but American officials say that he is invaluable for his historical perspective and the importance he places on the relationship with the United States and peace with Israel. An American official here said that there is concern that Mubarak's ultimate replacement be someone who maintains the same historical appreciation for peace and relations with Washin...

Ron Paul sets an ambitious $12 million fundraising goal
2007-10-29 16:49:00
GOP officials in early primary states say that while they have been impressed with the intensity of Paul 's supporters, they are not sure if he can expand his following, particularly among Republican primary voters generally supportive of the Iraq war."I know Ron Paul has an army. They believe in him and follow him. You see the people on the street corners," said Katon Dawson, chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party. "But is it big enough? I don't know."Dawson said Paul's anti-war message "is not selling in the circles that I travel in." But he added that Paul's focus on limited government "does hit a vein." He said that Paul's ability to spend more money in the state will help, adding, "Money is the mother's milk of politics."[& He reminds us of ...] He said they may then register a protest vote, much as they did in 1996 when conservative commentator Pat Buchanan beat former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole in the state's GOP primary. Dole got the nomination later,...

While I don't think there's anything wrong with women expressing their femininity & sexual appeal, I see "sex" in the United States beginning to take some asininely striking resemblances to "Christmas": It's over-commercialized, under-emotionalized, and losing it's true meaning.A Digg User Commenting on "Stop Dressing Your Six Year Old Like a Skank"

The New Fame
2007-10-27 21:58:00
She’s Famous (and So Can You) - New York Times How, one may ask, is it possible for a personality who great hunks of the citizenry never imagined existed to build up a social network more populous than Dallas? How can Tila Tequila have become enormously famous having done little of note beyond appearing as Playboy’s Cyber Girl of the Week? When exactly in the Warholian arc of fame did we arrive at a point where we create celebrities of people so little accomplished that they make Paris Hilton look like Marie Curie?

& the Hillary story continues...
2007-10-15 10:11:00
Looks like the disappointing feedback she got, has made her change her mind. During a campaign event in New Hampshire, Hillary Clinton decided to change her position on Iran. She stated that she would negotiate with Iran without preconditions. However, three months earlier .... To watch a bunch of her different responses to the issue, go to DailykosHer instability (well, that used to be the polite term for "opportunism", right?) makes me worried. maybe this is why I feel a lot more comfortable with Obama.btw, thanks to Javad, for the link!

So, it's not only Iran who needs to be "perfected".Appearing on Donny Deutsch's CNBC show, "The Big Idea," on Monday night, columnist/author Ann Coulter suggested that the U.S. would be a better place if there weren't any Jewish people and that they needed to "perfect" themselves into -- Christians.Read more on Mediamatters.orgYou don't wanna miss the transcript; COULTER: No. In fact, there was an entire Seinfeld episode about Elaine and her boyfriend dating because they wanted to be a mixed-race couple, so you're lying.DEUTSCH: Oh, because of some Seinfeld episode? OK....oh, & by the way, since every time something like this happens, everyone remembers what "head of Iran" said about Israel; you can check this out & decide for yourself whether if he ever said the damn line or not: So what did Ahmadinejad actually say? New Evidence That Blackwater Guards Took No Fire - New York Times The three witnesses, Kurds on a rooftop overlooking the scene, said they had observed no gunfire that could have provoked the shooting by Blackwater guards. 'Could I vote for this Mormon?'
2007-10-12 04:44:00
From "Why Evangelicals May Turn to Romney" - TIME The latest move came on Thursday when Mark DeMoss, a well-known publicist for a variety of religious or conservative groups and causes, sent a five-page letter to friends and colleagues explaining that he had decided to back Romney, a Mormon . [The letter reads;] "The question shouldn't be, 'Could I vote for a Mormon?' but, 'Could I vote for this Mormon?' After all, Mitt told me there are Mormons he couldn't vote for (I presume Harry Reid, for example); and there are Southern Baptists I couldn't vote for (Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, to name a few)." ... DeMoss's endorsement come a few weeks after a group of more than 40 social conservative leaders gathered in Salt Lake City and agreed they might bolt the Republican party if the G.O.P. handed former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani the Republican nomination. ... The problem, however, continues to be a lack of consensus about Plan B.Read on

Hillary's Choices
2007-10-10 10:19:00
Bomb, Bomb Iran - New York Times A Democrat, Randall Rolph, asked Senator Clinton why he should back her when she did not learn her lesson after voting to authorize W. to use force in Iraq. He did not understand how she could have voted yea to urge W. to label Iran’s Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization, possibly setting the stage for more Cheney chicanery.[On the document;]In the original “sense of Senate on Iran” document, sponsored by Joe Lieberman and the Republican Jon Kyl last month, there was a paragraph that supported “the prudent and calibrated use of all instruments of United States national power in Iraq, including diplomatic, economic, intelligence and military instruments, in support of the policy with respect to” Iran. That original draft, called “tantamount to a declaration of war” and “Dick Cheney’s fondest pipe dream” by Senator Jim Webb of Virginia, was softened.[On the feedback she got;]Obama chided Hillary for her willingness “to on...

People Vs. Paris Hilton
2007-06-29 22:27:00
Write down the date; this is the first time in the history of Internet that almost all users agree on something!Take a look at these interesting screenshots of two CNN & BBC polls on Paris & whether she was getting special treatment or not! Here's why I find it interesting; the same people who admire celebrities, buy their albums, watch their movies (& thus enable them to make a living), get enormously angry, when it becomes clear they're living two totally different lifestyles with different opportunities & advantages! It's like everybody's ok with that as long as no one's talking about it; I mean why do we really admire celebrities? just because John's a good actor, or because Jane's a good singer? or maybe it's something more than that!Maybe we don't fall for the things that they are, but for the things that they can possibly do! Maybe we long for their wealth, their high social position, their comfortable life? After all, it adds up; for famous people, we've got ...

Paris Hilton Liberated; CNN Reports
2007-06-26 10:19:00
So it's over; She's out of jail! Now what are we going to brag about?... so take my chance to complain for one last time, I've uploaded this; watch CNN report & see how the reporter keeps describing & "Informing" the Audience on how she actually "walked"!I've always thaught about celebritiy's lives; what's exactly a celeb experience like? how they become what they become? How do they see us, the rest of the world?but the more people talk & write & report on it, the less you find some deep insights. Well, Ray Richmond's an exception. Long ago he wrote this on his blog. Now this is true journalism; in less than 5 minutes, it gives you a glimpse of what's like to be a celeb & how you get detached from the real world;Hilton and Albrecht , like many others, live in a world of funhouse mirrors, insulated from reality. They come to believe that, because they are richer and more powerful than most people, they somehow aren't subject to the same rules. For years, they surrou...

Falling For Fatah?...Not A Bright Idea!
2007-06-25 00:23:00
So you've heard the news; After recent fights in Gazza & Hamas' victory, Abbas "appointed" a new government. US & Israel instantly supported it & took sides with Fatah , against currently popular Hamas. To try to put Hamas aside & ignore palestinians election, is not a good idea & this video shows why.Honestly, this one works for pragmatists only. There's also another reason I'll be writing about later.
