Fred Thompson meets Mahmoud Ahmadinejad...from Right Truth

Debbie at Right Truth suggested in this post "Fred Thompson meets Mahmoud Ahmadinejad , caption and photo manipulation contest," that we give the image she posted a comment or two of what Fred Thompson might say to "Momo" upon their first meeting.Check out the post and consider leaving what it is he might say. New Iranian Hate Crimes Legislation - Corruptors of the World
2007-06-13 21:51:00
It would appear that Iran is finally moving into a new century, although officials may still wonder which it century it is.According to CNN:"Iran's parliament on Wednesday voted in favor of a bill that could lead to death penalty for persons convicted of working in the production of pornographic movies. With a 148-5 vote in favor and four abstentions, lawmakers present at the Wednesday session of the 290-seat parliament approved that "producers of pornographic works and main elements in their production are considered corruptors of the world and could be sentenced to punishment as corruptors of the world."The term, "corruptor of the world" is taken from the Quran, the Muslims' holy book, and ranks among the highest on the scale of an individual's criminal offenses. Under Iran's Islamic Penal Code, it carries a death penalty."Many will applaud this brave and pure legislation, especially those that Iran would like to unify under its protection in the Middle East. We're the ones wit...

This Weeks Hero Was Suggested By Malinda69-year-old Bert Brady has never stepped foot in Iraq or Afghanistan, yet many soldiers who have know who he is and appreciate what he's done for them. You see, for the past year Mr. Brady has made a trip to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport nearly every morning to welcome home returning American troops. Bert Brady, along with fellow veterans, is a member of the Welcome Home a Hero program. They make sure that every soldier who steps off a plane in Dallas gets a special homecoming.Brady shows up each day with the goal of making soldiers feel appreciated and proud of their service. He's often joined by veterans of the Vietnam and Korean wars who did not get a warm reception when they returned from battle."We are not going to forget them like a lot of Vietnam soldiers have been forgotten," Brady said. Did the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals Get it Right?
2007-06-12 22:41:00
Being no lawyer one has to take it from the experience of those that are or from those with a certain legal knowledge. The first reaction to yesterdays news of the 4th Circuit s ruling that Ali Saleh Kalah al-Marri, was here in the U.S. legally so cannot be held as an "unlawful enemy combatant" and must either be set free or tried within the U.S. civilian court system with the rights that any American has; leaves one sickened. And makes you wonder about just who is the Commander in Chief in time of war, a war that fails to fit a war definition that people are comfortable with.Turning to NRO, you can read the Editors take on the decision and Andrew McCarthys reaction. The editors at NRO:"Since al-Marri’s efforts were acts of war rather than mere crimes, President Bush ordered him held as an alien unlawful enemy combatant. But now the Fourth Circuit has substituted the commander-in-chief’s wartime judgment with its own. Two judges — Diana Gribbon Motz, a Clinton appointee, and R...

Iran-Backed Terrorists in Gaza Exploit Press Neutrality
2007-06-11 21:56:00
If your claims are legitimate, why use illegitimate means? If with your violent actions the world turns a blind eye, why use illegitimate means? If you use illegitimate means, the world turns a blind eye and your true aim is the annihilation of Israel; keep it up. No two state solution will ever satisfy the bloodthirsty ignorance of those intent on the destruction of IsraelFrom The Israel Project:On June 9, the Iran ian-backed terrorist organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and Fatah Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a radical offshoot of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party, used a vehicle labeled "TV" to try to kidnap Israel Defense Force (IDF) soldiers. [1] The Israel Project condemns PIJ's use of a vehicle disguised as a TV van to perpetrate terrorist attacks against the IDF across the Gaza border. This contravenes international conventions relating to the neutrality of the press. It also jeopardizes foreign journalists' ability to perform their work in a fair ...

North Korea Expecting Normal Access to International Banking System
2007-06-11 21:39:00
Initially reported as accepting the request: “Russia has accepted a U.S. request that a Russian bank help end a stalemate over frozen North Korea n funds that has halted progress in the North's nuclear disarmament.” Now is has been agreed upon: “Russia has agreed to help the United States break the impasse over a long-running banking dispute.” North Korea agreed during six party talks on February 13th to dismantle its nuclear programs, in part understanding they would receive $25 million in frozen money. North Korea missed its April 14th deadline for the first step, which was shutting down its Yongbyon nuclear reactor citing claims it has not received the money. Setting aside the pathetic nature of agreeing to release the funds; North Korea had the means to get the money, but refused to unless the money was transferred; as noted by someone’s Yahoo: “The communist state insists on a transfer rather than a withdrawal to prove it has regained access to ...

Who in the world is Monzer al-Kassar and What does he have to do with Trans
2007-06-11 16:31:00
An amazingly thoughtful and intellectual site "Dumb Looks Still Free," posted regarding Monzer al-Kassar, his bio and links to terrorism. It is a long read, however it is also an indicator of the complicated subject we find ourselves faced with. From Dumb Looks Still Free:"[The following is a 'rush job', so spelling and syntax are not what I would like them to be]So, just who *is* Monzer al-Kassar?We get a look into his life in the larger work done by Antonius Johannes Gerhardus Tijhuis at Leiden University in the Netherlands by way of a paper he did on this subject: Tran s national crime and the interface between legal and illegal actors. And in Chapter 3 - Individuals and Legitimate Organizations as Interface, he would examine the business of mixing up legal and illegal activities by a few individuals, and concentrate on Mr. Kassar along with Viktor Bout and Faoud Abbas. These three range from pretty evenly divided between the legal and illegal with Mr. Kassar, to the very little ...

"If there's any hope of the Iran ians living according to the international rule of law and stopping, for instance, their nuclear weapons development, we can't just talk to them." – Senator Joe Liebe rman , D-Conn (regarding the D, good reporting CBS) In an interview with Bob Schieffer on CBS’ Face the Nation, Independent Senator from Connecticut Joe Lieberman said something that needs to be and rightly should be part of the diplomatic efforts with Iran regarding its nuclear research for nuclear weapons of peace, its interference in Iraq, its interference with Israel and Palestine and its overall belligerence: ‘"I think we've got to be prepared to take aggressive military action against the Iranians to stop them from killing Americans in Iraq." Friday Sermon from Iran: Demise, Nuclear Peace and Israel
2007-06-08 23:02:00
Speaking in an encore presentation to last Fridays Sermon from Iran , Provisional Friday Prayer Leader of Tehran Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani said the direction of the nation under the leadership of the Supreme Leader is keeping within the guidelines as expressed by the late Imam Rouhollah oussavi Khomeini. During the Friday Sermon, one of an seemingly endless parade of ceremonies marking the “18th Demise Anniversary of Khomeini;” he said: “in revival of Mohamedan Islam in the world, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution is emphasizing on the need to abide by the authentic version of Islam, particularly the teaching of the glorious Quran and the Tradition of the Holy Prophet of Islam in a bid to strengthen the foundations of Islamic unity." This is the continuing refrain these days, which refers to Iran as the leader in unifying all of Islam in the world. The Friday Prayer leader also spoke of the U.S’ intent regarding Iranian nuclear capabilities is “a...

Don't usually just post without comments or take on something, but this from Victor Davis Hanson today on the G-8 Summit is a very worthy read (when is he not). From its conclusion, Victor Davis Hanson at NRO "G-8 Precipice""So the world is at the edge, as the Bush presidency winds down, new directions are promised in Europe, old habits die hard in China and Russia — and all the while the Middle East gets more petromoney and crazier for it.""Here at home, if we keep paying out petrobribes to unsavory nations, piling up debt to China and Japan, run serial deficits, lose Iraq, and accept stalemate in Afghanistan, surge to 20 million or so illegal immigrants, and suffer another 9/11 attack, then expect the world to become a far more dangerous place, as a poorer, more isolationist America retreats inside an ever thinner, more fragile shell. All right, seal the border. Then what?
2007-06-07 20:39:00
"All right, seal the border. Then what?" asks Lawrence Downes in The NY Times. It seems Mr. Downes believes in the oversimplification of the Rights argument in the immigration debate as do so many others."Attrition is the restrictionists’ fallback plan, a wishful equation that with enough enforcement, mass deportation will happen by itself: Misery plus time equals no more illegals."A few of the many wrong this with this approach according to Downes?:"The price of this strategy is high — far more government intrusion into daily lives, with exponential increases in workplace raids, detentions and deportations; continual ID checks for everyone, citizen or not; immigration police at the federal, state, county and local levels; bureaucrats and snoops keeping an eye on landlords, renters, laborers, loiterers and everyone who uses government services or gets sick."The evil Right and its idea of the law is reminiscent of the Soviet Union; a socialist state, in Downes mind whereas the "c...

Some of the pictures to be aired are described as graphic to say the least. Some will want to see them for the curiosity of it, others not. Times as National Disgrace, Not Gitmo
2007-06-06 18:54:00
The Times Editorial Board calls it “Gitmo : A National Disgrace ” and has, as usual a real humdinger of an opening: “Ever since President Bush rammed the Military Commissions Act of 2006 through Congress to lend a pretense of legality to his detention camp at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, we have urged Congress to amend the law to restore basic human rights and judicial process. Rulings by military judges this week suggest that the special detention system is so fundamentally corrupt that the only solution is to tear it down and start again.” Ever since President Bush rammed the Military Commissions Act of 2006 through Congress The NY Times and other outlets of the msm have been ramming their opinions down our throats, whether this was through “news” articles or opinion pieces mattered not. For some unknown reason the msm considers itself above it all as though it delivers the news with no bias; most, if not everyone would disagree (although there would be much disagreem...

David Sutherland, along with brigade Chaplain Maj. Charlie Fenton, pictured on the right, has made it a point to visit every wounded soldier and say goodbye to each and everyone of his men who've lost their life. Four of his soldiers died on one day in April 2007 and the bad news arrived at his office in waves -- a knock on the door, a note handed in by an aide, heads bowed, knowing glances exchanged. Aides say Sutherland walks to the mortuary affairs tent at his base and embraces the dead bodies of his men. "I hug all my fallen soldiers", said Sutherland. "They are my own". Diyala province is one of the worst places in Iraq. Public beheadings of Iraqi police, tribal wars, sectarian wars and al-Qaida. "I didn't come here thinking it'd be easy. ...

In the Service of Global Peace and Security – Iran has Your Back
2007-06-05 21:08:00
In a news conference with foreign news entities during the 18th anniversary celebrations of the “departure of Imam Khomeini,” president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ahmadinejad said: “Iran serves international peace and security,” and that ‘"big powers want to retain their monopoly over the nuclear energy and in order to achieve the goal, they sow discord and differences among the developing nations.”’ Asked by an Indian reporter about US claims of Iranian involvement in Iraq, the good leader responded in proper Leftist form (which requires dropping various details and facts): ‘"The US, equipped and supported Saddam Hussein, former Iraqi dictator, during his imposed war on Iran and Kuwait, has occupied Iraq under the pretext of WMD and creating democracy in the country."’ He added that no WMDs were found and aiming to interfere in regional issues, the U.S. remains in Iraq. Just to help the Iraqi people, Iran “expressed readiness to establish secur...

The Police 30th Anniversary World Tour and a Two CD Release
2007-06-01 16:02:00
Stewart Copeland, Andy Summers and Sting: The Police are back! The summer of 2007 marks the reunion of one of the premier bands of the late 70’s to early 80’s – The Police. When I first heard these guys had gotten back together I thought, nope, not gonna happen, but it has. The last time I saw this band was at McGill University in Montreal, Canada back in 1982; an amazing show that included opening bands Corbeau, A Flock of Seagulls and The English Beat. The Police are my absolute favorite band whom I worshiped from the moment I heard Outlandous d’Amour the first time shortly after its release; suffice it to say I was quite crushed when they called it quits; each album with the sound unique to it is a precision testament to the band’s musical cohesiveness, each release keeping me on edge anticipating the next. To commemorate their 30th anniversary and The Police World wide Tour a new Police CD is being released. Each of the classic 28 tunes on the two CD se...

Can We Get Some Real Sanctions Please
2007-05-08 18:42:00
The economic one, two punch of sanctions on Iran would do much to weaken the already pathetic wallet that is Iran. However, without the 100% compliance of the member states it is as hollow a threat as any other from the United Nations. Whether it is threats of action, military action, or sanctions the UN is about as worthless as a wooden nickel. “WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Companies and government agencies in three dozen countries have struck more than $153 billion in deals with Iran since 2000, investment that could offer important leverage to help persuade Tehran to abandon its nuclear program, a new study says. The research by the conservative American Enterprise Institute think tank may be the most comprehensive attempt to publicly identify corporate and government investors whose withdrawal could potentially affect Iran's nuclear policy. The data comes as the U.N. Security Council considers new sanctions against Iran and momentum grows in the U.S. Congress and in state legisl...

NY Times Has the Answer to All Our Problems and Theirs in Iraq
2007-05-07 20:14:00
Foreign Policy Wisdom from today’s New York Times Editorial Board:“Whether out of blind loyalty or blind denial, most Congressional Republicans are prepared to back up President Bush’s veto of the Iraq spending bill. It is now essential that the revised version not back away from demanding that Iraq’s prime minister, Nuri Kamal al-Maliki, finally deliver on the crucial national reconciliation measures he has spent the last year dodging. And it must make clear that American support for his failures — and Mr. Bush’s — is fast waning.” To the board: “Whether out of blind loyalty or blind denial” the NY Times editorial board as well as many other fonts of wisdom in the msm choose to educate and pontificate on subjects; in this case Middle Eastern, as though they are the simplest of conundrums. Through their ignorant and “blind denial” style of reporting and analysis we end up with a public that can choose sides more easily in a subject, which whether we ...

Beheadings on the U.S. Border
2007-05-04 21:45:00
Cross posted from Right Truth:This is not the first time we have beheaded and mutilated bodies on the United States border and in other Mexican locations. Generally we think of beheading in places like the Middle East, not in our backyard. This is not Islamic terrorists, it's Mexican drug gangs. This particular man may have been a police officer. Part of this brutality is over 'billion-dollar smuggling routes into the United States.' Mexican police found a mutilated, beheaded body dumped outside a military base on the U.S. border ... The torso, headless and missing its limbs, was wrapped in a plastic bag and blankets and spotted by passers-by before dawn in the seedy Mexican border city of Tijuana, near San Diego, and not far from a Mexican police anti-drugs squad office. It was one of the goriest among some 900 gangland-style murders this year by feuding drug cartels. "An execution of this kind can only be committed by organized crime," said an official at the Baja Californi...

Friday Sermon from Iran and A Round-up in Logic
2007-05-04 18:24:00
Efforts to travel back in time are moving full speed ahead one second at a time in an alternate universe; Hillary Clinton has proposed that Congress repeal the authority given to the president to invade Iraq. According to The NY Times the senator from NY said: ‘“It is time to reverse the failed policies of President Bush and to end this war as soon as possible.”’ Presidential hopeless John Edwards entered his suggestion for support of the soldiers and a speedy ending to the Democrat created stalemate between the Commander and Chief and the Congress: ‘“Congress should stand its ground and not back down to him. They should send him the same bill he just vetoed, one that supports our troops, ends the war and brings them home.”’ The Iran ian Ambassador to Thailand, Mohsen Pak-Ayeen is in agreement with this assessment, although his statement was made prior to the integrity and reality based good senator made her proposal, (brilliant minds think alike I guess...

Discussions About Talking
2007-05-03 22:43:00
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon opened the “International Compact with Iraq,” at Sharm el-Sheikh Egypt today remarking that the presence of all the participants is a “clear sign” of their commitment in assisting the people and government in Iraq “when they need our support.” This meeting has been a year in the making with the participation of the Compact Preparatory Group (oops), the World Bank, the U.N. and of course the government of Iraq. “The Compact represents a road map for the next five years aimed at helping Iraq to achieve its long-term goals of economic prosperity, political stability and lasting security. Much work will be needed to keep Iraq on track, but I am confident that the people and Government are up to the challenge.” The Secretary General is confident, however some U.S. lawmakers are not so. The Iraq parliament plans a recess this summer, beginning in July and lasting up to two months. This has our politicians united on “at least one ...

Gittin' Outta Gitmo!
2007-05-03 19:56:00
“The five-year-old military prison at Guantánamo Bay, with its indefinite detention rules, lack of judicial review and insufficiently regulated interrogation techniques, is an ugly stain on this country’s long tradition of respect for the rule of law and an endless propaganda bonanza for America’s enemies.” An “endless propaganda bonanza” a category of which this editorial can appropriately be included. Do you get the impression the Times editorial board doesn’t care for Gitmo ? Gitmo lacks a “judicial review” that The Times approves of. Gitmo lacks a set of sufficiently “regulated interrogation techniques,” that can perhaps be televised on cable. Gitmo is an “ugly stain,” on this nation and is a piece of propaganda The Times has no more need of. What is Gitmo and is it everything horrible The Times and others have disseminated? Where has “America’s enemies,” gotten its education on the “facts” surrounding Gitmo? "America's enemie...
Fashion Tips for Compromise on Iraq Spending – post veto
2007-05-03 17:41:00
Of the recent spending vetoed by the president, presidential aspirant Barack Obama took to a leadership role and had this definitive statement: ‘“I don’t know whether there are sufficient options out there. I’m concerned about simply putting in advisory benchmarks that the president is free to ignore, without any consequences.”’ I don’t know what we can do other than tie the presidents hands and damn the consequences. Harry “Vichy” Reid said: ‘“The bill that we sent him was a bill that was representative of the wishes of the American people, and we’re going to keep that in mind as we go through these negotiations. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s important.”’ That’s right Harry we’re all spineless. Tough talk from the Majority Leader comes in the form of the fights here at home, not abroad. Adding to the integrity of the debate is Chuck Schumer with: ‘“I think that is not as much the problem as how to do something...
