Bland Impromptus - Elections, Primaries....
2008-01-09 18:19:00 In honor of one of my favorite (can there only be one? not the case anymore) reads, Impromptu's by Jay Nordlinger at NRO - I'll make a stab...Katherine Jean Lopez at the corner at NRO wrote of Bill Clinton’s game face regarding Hillary Clinton’s success rate to date….interesting, but one thing stuck out creating a “really?” moment: Quoting Stewart Applebaum, head of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union: ‘“Hope itself is not a program. There is no Department of Hope…. You don’t hope for a paycheck. You work for a paycheck.”’ “You work for a paycheck?” .Really…..?.?.? ----------------------------------------- -------------------“Barry” Obama had some final words for the student volunteers working on his campaign in NH at a Tuesday morning rally in Hanover (bold mine): ‘"My job is to be so persuasive that if there's anybody left out there who is still not sure whether they will vote, or is still not clear who they will vot... Writers Strike or Not: The Adam Gadahn Show
2008-01-04 16:59:00 Verse of the Sword: “Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is forgiving, merciful” (Sura 9:5). Some losers just become bigger losers. Over the years TV viewing has changed in many ways; one is that no longer is pilot week in say early September, these days it isn’t just Fall and Spring. October 27, 2004 saw the release of the pilot episode of The Adam Gadahn Show , which proved a smashing success and has seen; follow on episodes although no regular time slot. This may be due to its sad, tired and unchanging storyline; obviously these writers have refused to cross the picket line. Oddly though, this tack has had some success. Due to his rare appearances most viewers do not tire of seeing the young strap-on strapping lad. In fact, it may be th... More About: Writers , Strike , Adam Gadahn

2007-12-24 15:50:00 This week's hero was suggested by Cindy & KathiEach year, around this time, since 1992, the Arlington National Cemetery has something happen to it. It gets covered in vibrant green Christmas wreaths. The wreaths are donated by a man named Merrill Worcester who is the owner of the Worcester Wreath Co. in Maine. From the Worcester Wreath Co.'s website:Each year Worcester Wreath donates Maine wreaths to adorn the headstones of those who serve and those who sacrificed to preserve our freedoms. In 2007, over 10,000 wreaths are destined for the annual wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington. In addition, 2,500 wreaths will be sent to Togus National Cemetery in Augusta, Maine. Worcester Wreath also donates ceremonial wreaths that will be used as part of the Wreaths Across America events at over 230 State and National veterans cemeteries all across the Country.Sometimes a hero is one who sacrifices everything in their life to help others. A “Highly Confident” Friday Sermon from Iran
2007-12-21 18:34:00 James S. Robbins wrote yesterday at NRO: “The NIE has presented Iran with a major strategic opportunity. Iran’s best move at this point is to open some form of dialogue with the United States. Promote the idea that the “grand bargain” to settle the major issues of the region is possible, play into that instinct on our side. This will serve as a useful shield against attack by third parties, because if negotiations are afoot, we will strongly discourage any other country from taking military action. Keep the talks going for as long as possible. Periodically hint at breakthroughs, settle some minor issues, feed the vanity of diplomacy. Meanwhile move out vigorously on developing a nuclear-weapons capability. When the time comes to test the weapon, foment some kind of small crisis, break off talks (though not too belligerently), conduct the test, and blame the United States for making it necessary. Then call for a new round of talks, particularly about limiting nuclear pro... More About: Sermon , Friday

Greenland Ice Sheet Melting with Rising Temperatures
2007-10-25 17:29:00 According to CNN: “The fear is that melting ice from Greenland and other Arctic areas could cause sea levels to rise enough to flood low-lying cities, such as Shanghai, China, and New York City, displacing millions of people in the process.” Additionally, Dr. Konrad Steffen, climate scientist at the University of Colorado in Boulder: “estimates sea levels could rise three feet over the next century.” The U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change: “estimates the sea level rise by 2100 could be as much as 1½ feet.” 3 millimeters a year is 0.984251 inches over 100 years Quotes and Questions: “global sea levels have been rising at the rate of three millimeters per year since 1993.” What were global sea levels doing before that? Could you go way back too? “Greenland is losing 100 billion tons of ice each year, more than it is gaining from snowfall in the interior.” How much snowfall is there in the interior? Does ... 2007-10-10 16:49:00 Before we get too far a disclaimer to keep in mind: “Several current and former officials, as well as outside experts, spoke on the condition of anonymity because the intelligence surrounding the Israeli strike remains highly classified.” The “intelligence” is “highly classified,” so how do they know anything and are they worth quoting or basing an article on? Now on the chosen colors representing the bad and the good. According to The NY Times: “A sharp debate is under way in the Bush administration about the significance of the Israeli intelligence that led to last month’s Israeli strike inside Syria, according to current and former American government officials.” This debate revolves around intelligence provided by Israel, which led that nation to its decision to bomb a location in Syria believed to be the location of Bashar al-Assad’s nascent nuclear program; spermatozoon in the test tube courtesy of stature lacking Kim of Korea. On at least two occasions he stuffed them into his clothing and briefcase, smuggling them out of the archives. He secreted some of these stolen papers under the wheel of a truck at a nearby construction site so that he could return for them later. Other documents he intentionally destroyed. Iran's Timeline of Terror
2007-10-09 21:55:00 In following the link this morning from RCP to Thomas Jocelyn's article at The Weekly Standard, "Sy Hersh's Overactive Imagination," which in and of itself is very interesting; I followed the link at the end of the article to his essay published September 11, 2007 at The Claremont Institute."Iran's Proxy War Against America, (PDF)" covers the evidence of Iranian links to al Qaeda and other terrorist groups regardless of their Sunni, Shiite or Palestinian sympathies. These essay itself is a very interesting and well thought out product that deserves attention and turns the conventional intelligence, government and media wisdom on its ear.Do, at some point take the time to read it. You don't have to agree with everything within its pages, but should at the least use it as consideration for thinking outside the box when comparing claims of this nature with the overly cocksure attitude of the media mindset and what might really be.Included is an appendix of Iran's Timeline of Ter... On Democrats, Surveillance and Being Flaccid
2007-10-09 17:58:00 We are often bothered by politicians “flip-flops,” think Kerry. Then we have those that are likely not flip flops, but the necessity in the necessary revealing the opposite of your public positions or pronouncements (denouncement is fitting as well.). At the first column, top position sets “Democrats Seem Ready to Extend Wiretap Powers,” with the summary sentence of: “Democrats remain nervous that they will be called soft on terrorism if they insist on strict curbs on gathering intelligence.” Democrats will be hard pressed in doing the right thing when so often, at least in part doing the right thing is that which they have pilloried endlessly in the past. This tends to cut off legitimate options that if allowed to be cut from debate and/or discussion will leave them with little of worth or substance to work with; a fact that would make the “soft” on security. Taser This: It’s OK to F**k Bush
2007-10-05 19:33:00 The decision is in regarding Colorado State University newspapers editor and his recent OpEd which had nothing to do with its subject. According to CNN CSU faculty member Jim Landers read a statement prepared following the decision of three faculty members and six students: "We see the editorial as an opinion which is protected by the First Amendment. We feel that it caused harm to The Collegian and to student media. It is our judgment that his actions were unethical and unprofessional." Ultimately: “The editor-in-chief of Colorado State University's newspaper will keep his job after he published a four-word column that said, "Taser this: F**k Bush ." The CSU Board of Student Communications met Thursday for nearly four hours in a closed hearing before deciding to admonish instead of fire Rocky Mountain Collegian editor-in-chief David McSwane.” This is obviously not my decision, but the “verdict” is questionable as it is not just free speech that they ar...
