Dream Ticket
2008-02-01 07:50:00 Is this the future of the Democratic Party?Dream s and hopes are wild, but you never know. Come August at the Democratic National Convention, history will be made when for the first time in American history, a minority candidate will be nominated to be President by a major Party. While as a Democrat, I will love to see a Clinton/Obama ticket, something tells me an Obama/Clinton ticket is all but a fantasy.Tonight's debate was something special in American history. It represented the fight for women's and African-American rights. It represented the struggles and horrors of this nation. But, it represents a future... a bright future, be you a Democrat, Republican and everything in between. More About: Democrats , Barack Obama , Hillary Clinton , Ticket

"This national town hall will allow all voters to participate in the conversation that I began with the American public a year ago and discuss the issues that matter to them so they can be fully informed when they cast their ballot the following day. John Edwards Drops Out
2008-01-30 20:13:00 Ending his 2008 presidential campaign where he started it, former Senator John Edwards dropped out of the race vowing his cause will live on.Edwards faced tremendous obstacles from the outset. He was a failed Vice Presidential candidate, he had two mega candidates that ate the media attention and he was unable to keep up with fundraising. While he was often the first to tout substantive proposals, they were hardly recognized and Edwards had to rely on retail politics and the debates to get his message through. What does this mean for the race? For the first time in American history, a minority candidate will head a major party ticket. It will be either a white woman, or a black man. The road ahead for these two candidates are uncertain. My calculations for Super Tuesday involved a three-man race based on exit polls for MI, NV, SC, and FL, which showed a Clinton win. With Edwards out of the race, I am no longer sure of what will happen next Tuesday. One thing is for sure, history will...
Did Obama Snub Clinton Before the Snub?
2008-01-30 06:40:00 By now most of us are familiar with the Obama "snub" at the SOTU highly documented in several photographs. Sources now say that Barack Obama declined to sit with Senator Clinton to show Party unity after the back and forth on the campaign trail. According to the source, Clinton was willing, but Obama decided to sit with Ted Kennedy who endorsed Obama earlier. Clinton greeted and shook Kennedy's hand but there was almost no interaction between the two candidates.Obama strategist, David Axelrod said no invitation came from the Senator, but if it had, Obama's plans would have been adjusted. Later, Axelrod said there was no snub because Obama planned on sitting with Kennedy all along. How's that for you? More About: Linton

2008-01-28 16:08:00 It's not what you say, but what other people say about you. After Bill Clinton talked about the friendship of Hillary Clinton and John McCain and the possibily of them running against each other in November, the Romney campaign saw an opportunity to use the words of the former President against his Republican opponent."Hi, 'm calling on behalf of Mitt Romney You can learn a lot about a candidate by looking at their friendsJohn McCain and Ted Kennedy wrote an amnesty billAnd McCain teamed with another liberal Democrat to write campaign financereformJohn McCain also joined with Democrats to vote against the Bush tax cutsAnd listen to what Bill Clinton said about John McCain just last weekBill Clinton audio: 'She and John McCain are very close. Clinton Will go to Florida
2008-01-27 22:31:00 Hillary Clinton will visit Florida on Tuesday, she said on Face the Nation. Ted Kennedy to Endorse Obama
2008-01-27 22:30:00 After a much needed win in South Carolina, Barack Obama will get the coveted endorsement from Ted Kennedy . Kennedy brings with him strong Democratic appeal, which Clinton is strong with in the primaries, and an establishment political machine. To demonstrate how important this endorsement is, the Clinton campaign fought hard in the last few days to prevent Kennedy from making an endorsement, with Bill Clinton making personal calls to the Senator. In terms of monetary support, Hillary Clinton has received $15,000 from the Kennedy family, while Obama has received $9,000.Clinton aides responded to the endorsement:?She has a great deal of respect for Sen. Kennedy and is very proud of all the endorsements she's received from her Senate colleagues,? said Doug Hattaway, a Clinton spokesman. ?At the end of the day, the voters are going to choose a candidate on their merits, not on their endorsements.?While this endorsement is a blow to Clinton, it is hardly the end of her campaign. The Racial Divide
More articles from this author:2008-01-27 03:23:00 How did the black and white vote split? Here are the numbers. For Barack Obama , 80% of those who voted for him was African-Americans, while 19% were white. For Hillary Clinton , 60% of those who voted for here were white, while 40% were African-Americans. For John Edwards , 94% were white, while 6% were African-Americans.While Obama calls this a diverse coalition, I don't, I call it a losing coalition. Obama cannot win the nomination if this trend continues. States like Georgia, Louisiana, and Maryland can give Obama wins or at least the upper hand, but states which do not have a large black vote could very difficult to win. The last three weeks may have been brutal and at times disgusting, but it was the most brilliant politics I have seen played by the Clinton thus far in this election.Among white voters, Edwards got 40%, Clinton got 36% and Obama got 24%. Among African-American voters, Obama got 78%, Clinton got 19% and Edwards got 9%. More About: Democrats , Racial 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
