Sendero Stages Deadliest Attack in 10 Years
2008-10-12 05:38:00 Updated October 13:On Thursday night, October 9, 2008, Shining Path guerrillas attacked a Peru vian military column as it sounded a bend in Tintaypunco, in the Tayacava Province in Huancavelica Department. The attack left 13 soldiers and 2 civilians dead (earlier reports of 12 soldiers and 7 civilians killed were wrong) and 11 others wounded (8 soldiers and 3 civilians). The civilians were being transported by the military convoy. The convoy was returning to the Cochabamba Grande military base when it was hit.A typical road in the Vrae region. Not much, is it? The convoy was probably traveling on a road like this when it was hit.Sendero attacked the convoy of four trucks with a roadside bomb first, then followed up with automatic weapons fire. The result was a battle that lasted for hours. Vizcatán is in the far northwest corner of Ayacucho Province, in the La Mar District. The previous day, Sendero attacked a military vehicle in Vizcatán, killing 1 soldier. So far, the offensive has ki... Bill Ayers, Rapist
2008-10-12 03:30:00 Updated October 13:Evidence here (Hat tip Entitled To An Opinion). I realize he's unrepentant about the bombings (Good for him!) but I sure hope he's repentant about this nefarious act.It was long known that the New Left was full of a bunch of guys who spouted all the feminist bullshit when on prime time but when the doors were shut, were complete sexist pricks. "The best place in the movement for the women is on their backs." Geez, that's really crappy.I still get chills thinking about Eldridge Cleaver, who was just nothing but a Black rapist criminal who especially loved to rape White women like so many Black rapists, defending rape (of White women) as an "insurrectionary act" in Soul on Ice. Oh, screw you, Eldridge. It's sad that books like that even got famous."I'm a Black criminal, I love to rape women because I'm evil, but the racist system made me rape White women." Nothing but criminals seeking to justify their behavior like they always do. Cleaver changed his name an... More About: Bill
Modern Hunter-Gatherers in Africa and Elsewhere
2008-10-10 20:36:00 Updated October 12:Some commenters, reacting to the The Development of Agriculture in Africa post, have continued to insist that most modern Black Africans were hunter-gatherers upon contact. Examples are here: While you are correct in some senses to say that agriculture existed among SOME Black African tribes, MOST Black Africans were not at all agriculturists but remained hunter-gatherers and scavengers well in to modern times.Only in the past few decades have most Black Africans been FORCED in to adopting agriculture because there are now too many people to feed there and not enough space left in the most populated parts of Africa for hunting/gathering/scavenging......There was certainly some agriculture being practiced in Sub-Saharan Africa, I don't dispute that...however, it was limited and, as I wrote, the majority of Black Africa still got most of their food by hunting/gathering/foraging and not through systematic forms of agriculture.Because of its tropicality, many parts o... The NPA Inflicts Serious Blows on the AFP In Mindinao
2008-10-10 06:56:00 In the last 2 weeks of September, there was very heavy fighting in Mindanao between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the New People's Army (NPA).This blog strongly supports the NPA because we feel that capitalism in the Philippines has completely failed, seems destined to continue to fail into the foreseeable future, and it's time to give something else a try. In other words, capitalism in the Philippines has had a good 100-200 years or so, and it's done nothing but fail. Just how much more time do we need to give it until the experiment finally starts working?Capitalism in the Philippines seems hopeless. A tiny, corrupt, semi-feudal, murderous elite monopolizes almost all of the land and most of the wealth.Any attempts to make the situation the slightest bit more fair or democratic are met with repression, arrests, harassment, beatings torture, and murder. Hence, all peaceful avenues for change have been blocked and will continue to be blocked into the foreseeable ...
Great Expectations Tables For October 9
2008-10-10 02:30:00 McCain seems to have reduced Obama's a bit, and Obama's big lead in some key states seems to be declining. Last week Obama was up by about 6.5% nationally, and this week he's up by about 5.5%. McCain's attack mode paying off a bit? Overall though, there has not been much change in this chart in the past few days. Seems to be solidifying wherever they are.Colorado is back in the McCain column as Obama is now up by 3 there. Pollster.com's average has Obama up by 2.7%. But McCain can definitely still take Colorado, so Obama should not abandon the state. McCain is losing 13% of Bush voters there.New Hampshire, very close for a long time, has pulled away for McCain in a major way. He's now up by 11 points there and it looks hopeless for McCain. New Hampshire is not nearly as conservative a state as people think it is, and a lot of people from Massachusetts have been moving to the southeast part of the state recently. McCain is losing a 11% of the Bush voters in New Hampshire. That... More About: Alaska , Indiana , North Carolina , Tables
The Development of Agriculture in Africa
2008-10-09 07:46:00 Updated October 8:Hang out long enough on White nationalist fora, and after a while you will be amazed at how many White racists actually believe that Black Africa ns were stone age people who had no metalworking, no agriculture and no civilization of any sort by the time the Europeans contacted them. It's true that Africa is not known for its incredible cultural achievements. But it wasn't exactly a complete backwater either. The White nationalist line that Africans were a Paleolithic people with only stone implements and no agriculture is surprisingly widespread. Too bad that it is horribly wrong.First of all, agriculture comes to the Sahel as early as 9000 BC. It comes to West Africa around the same time. Later it goes to Southern and Eastern Africa. The "niggers* are too stupid to grow food" line, appalling in its stupidity, continues to retain a lot of currency. Screw that. Africans have been growing food for 1000's of years, Jesus Christ. The latest permutation has to do with... More About: Egypt , Ethiopia , Development , Agriculture
Black Males and Testosterone: Evolution and Perspectives
2008-10-09 07:40:00 Development of agriculture in modern Black s also seems to have led to high testosterone levels. Groups with the highest testosterone in the world today are primitive agriculturalists.Hunter-gatherers tend to have lower testosterone. This is because in hunter-gatherer society, women need men to survive. So they just grab one pretty quickly and get married. In primitive agricultural societies, women do not need men since they can farm on their own. So they can afford to be quite choosy. These societies have tended to develop in a polygynous way where a few high-ranking males monopolize most of the females and the rest of the guys get none. It's kind of like high school except it keeps going for your whole life.Sub-Saharan Blacks are highly polygynous ,and this resulted in intense competition for fewer women and selection for very robust male body types. SS Blacks are more robust than Whites on all variables. In Namibia, the polygynous Kavango have much higher testosterone than the muc... More About: Evolution , Africa , Agriculture , Race
Lehman Brothers CEO Punched Out
2008-10-08 21:26:00 CNBC is now reporting that Lehman Brothers CEO Richard Fuld, one of the worst crooks involved in Hurricane Neoliberal on Wall Street that blew up the US economy and is now firing artillery barrages at the world economy, got punched in the face at the company gym on the evening after it was announced earlier that day that Lehman Brothers was going under.Fuld was on a treadmill with a heart monitor on and a guy who worked at Lehman Brothers was lifting weights over in the corner. He recognized Fuld, calmly walked over to him on the treadmill, and punched him in the face, knocking him out cold.I normally oppose this sort of thing, especially since I've been punched out a few times myself (It doesn't feel very good!) but in this case, I am with the puncher. Especially as long as there is no permanent damage to the guy. Fuld has done a Hell of a lot of permanent damage himself.Fuck him. Genes and Language Match Well
2008-10-08 21:00:00 This post will look into whether or not genes and language line up well. The question may seem academic, but it is important for linguists in the battle for whether or not there is anything to the large macro-families that the "lumpers" are creating. It's yet another skirmish in the lumpers versus splitters battle in Historical Linguistics . Historical in the branch that deals with language families, language relationships and reconstruction of old languages that are no longer spoken. The debate has heated up in recent years due to the prominence of lumper theories publicized by the late Joseph Greenberg and his followers and disciples, notably Merrit Ruhlen at Stanford University. Ruhlen and Greenberg use a technique called mass comparison which has come under a lot of wild and irrational abuse, but seems to be a valid scientific method in the hands of an expert.Greenberg used to come up with the four major language families of Africa a long time ago and his classification there has ... Wolverine Sighted in Shasta County, California
2008-10-08 04:51:00 There was an unconfirmed sighting of a wolverine in Shasta County , California two weeks ago, on Friday, September 26, 2008. The sighting occurred at 1 PM on a sunny day. The wolverine was crossing Highway 89 from north to south. It was walking fast more than running. It was described as paler than most photos the observer had seen - more of a dark tan. This color is actually common for wolverines, and if this was an actual California wolverine, this subspecies was known to have a much lighter coloration. He observed it crossing the road at about 50 feet away until it vanished into the forest. The observer assumed it was a pretty common animal until he went on the Net and did some research and found out how rare it was. He reported the sighting to this blog, and I believe him. Anyone who wants to talk to the observer about this sighting can try to contact him via me at my email on the top right of my blog page. This area of California has actually had a number of wolverine sightings in ... More on Minority Tongues
2008-10-07 22:05:00 Ploni Almoni, a really smart Jewish Israeli who is also a fairly sensible sort of White nationalist, asks about the Migration and Language Policy post: A question, which you may have already addressed in other postings on the subject: Why should we care? That's not a cynical or smart-ass question. What's so important about a language?Seems to me, we care about languages mostly as proxies for something really important: nations, in the original sense of the word (ethnoi). But it's a truism of political science that language is a poor proxy for nationhood. The Irish are a nation even though their mother tongue is English. The Jews are a nation even though they've got dozens of mother tongues, and most Jews probably don't speak Hebrew. I do care a lot about the survival of the nation--my nation, that is, not all those funny other ones. Why do people care about all those funny nations and languages not their own? My guess is, for the same reason they care about those funny species l... More About: Crap , Nationalism , Tongues
More Triestine Venetian Audio Files
2008-10-07 21:39:00 Updated October 8:Here are some more audio files in Triestine Venetian . All of these files, along with the Le Maldobrìe files in the other posts, are very hard to find.Processo alle parole 1 and Processo alle parole 2 are from a radio show in Trieste . The language is in both Triestine Venetian and Standard Italian. The setting is a court where everyone is talking a bunch of nonsense all at once and there is lots of loud laughing. They are debating the origins of various words in Triestine Venetian: English "tile" = TV copo (origin from Latin coctus -> L coptus - or from It cupa (E "terracotta cup"?The next word is TV carantan (E "1/60 of a florin at beginning of the 1800's", based on the region Kaertnen/Carinzia or from French quarantine?)El Campanon is a show featuring Mikize and Jakeze (2 iron statues that beat the hours - they ring the time on a bell - every 15 minutes) on the town hall of Trieste say the final words about the show El Campanon (The Big Bell) and then speakers ... 2008-10-07 21:37:00 Updated October 8. I have added 2 new episodes, Episodes 10 and 11:I am now making more Le Maldobrìe audio downloads, numbers 0-9, available. For background on Le Maldobrìe radio show out of Trieste , Italy 20-30 years ago, see my post here. The language of Le Maldobrìe is Triestine Venetian , so if you can't speak that language, you may not get much use out of it. I couldn't understand a word of it, but it was fun to listen to it anyway.Le Maldobrìe 0 This episode has to do with the popularity of contraband tobacco before World War 1. Production of this contraband tobacco was in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Bartolo is a sailor from Trieste who was involved in the running of contraband tobacco from Bosnia to Italy. There was a big tobacco-smuggling business in Trieste at the time. The episode has something to do with a bag of tobacco under a ship.Le Maldobrìe 1 This is the story of Nini, the chauffeur of "Karl of Augsburg" - i.e. Karl 1 of Austria - the Emperor of Austria. Signs Point to an Obama Blowout
2008-10-07 05:50:00 Note: This post contains recent polls and analysis for New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina , Georgia, Florida, Ohio , Colorado , Colorado and Missouri. This election is starting to look like a serious blowout. Some pretty incredible polls have been rolling in lately.First we had three straight polls out New Hampshire giving Obama a double digit lead, the most recent one giving him a 13 point lead in New Hampshire, the previous ones at 10 and 12 point leads. This state has been tied forever. Those poll results are just incredible.Next we have three polls, all released today, from Virginia. One gives Obama a 10 point lead and another gives him a 12 point lead and Rasmussen gives Obama an 2 point lead. That almost impossible to believe, but apparently it's true. It's inconceivable that a Black Democrat could be 8 points ahead in Virginia. There are some dramatic differences between rural and urban voters in the state - the rural areas are much more Republican. However, a huge number o... More About: California , Indiana
Migration and Language Policy
2008-10-07 03:25:00 In comments on the The Record of Communist Language Policy post, James Schipper notes astutely: One very important aspect of language policy is migration. The more migration there is within a multilingual state, the more minority languages are threatened. If Russians are free to move move into Latvia, then the Latvian language will be in danger, even if Latvian remains an official language in Latvia. We are seeing this in Tibet too. The influx of Chinese in Tibet is the real danger to the Tibetan language. In the capital of Tibet, the Chinese are already the majority. The smaller a people is, the more they have to be able to control immigration if they want to survive as a nation.Of course, by making its territory rigidly unilingual, the minority can create a linguistic barrier to immigration. If Latvian is the sole language of administration and instruction in Latvia, then Russians will think twice before settling there. For minority languages there are two basic rules: concentrate ... The Record of Communist Language Policy
2008-10-07 01:30:00 A commenter posting on the Cool Neo-Latin Websites post critiques what he sees as a disconnect in my views: That's funny you support preserving small languages, because most communists do not and prefer centralization and one mass-language for everyone. For instance, the communists in the USSR did much to stamp out local languages by forcing all people living within its boundaries to learn Russian first and foremost in state schools (which they were forced to attend). They did somewhat try to preserve local languages in the so called "autonomous regions" within the Soviet empire, but still many local languages were lost in the forced shuffle from locally-based economies to the centralized/state-run economy where Russian reigned supreme. In China a similar situation is taking place...many languages and dialects have been lost and are continuing to be lost as the communists there forcibly centralize everything in sight and institute Mandarin over all else. A lot of these programs cause more problems than they fix, but this one is conservative and seems to work pretty nicely. I run it fairly regularly. If your NT-based Windows OS is starting to get flaky, run this program right away. I've nipped many a problem in the bud by running this program as soon as a weird problem developed. Cool Neo-Latin Websites
2008-10-06 07:47:00 Updated October 6:Forgive me a bit while I trip off into obscure Romance linguistics here for a bit, but I'm really getting off on this little journey. Here is the website for La Quotidiana, an online and printed daily newspaper in the Romansch language. This is the closest Romance language of all to Latin itself.Below are a couple of websites entirely in the Ladin language. Ladin is spoken in northeastern Italy , in the Eastern Alps. The specific range is called the Dolomites. Ladin is a weird-looking language. At first you think it's French, then...no, it can't be. Wait, it's Italian, no, not quite. You keep thinking Romanian, but that's wrong too. The one thing that keeps hitting you is that it looks so much like Classic Latin.Noeles.net is said to be the only online Ladin newspaper. Sugar-Free Products and Weight Gain
2008-10-06 06:18:00 I was as mystified as the rest of you when I heard that consumption of sugar-free drinks was associated with weight gain. There was a theory behind it - that the sugar-free stuff somehow made you crave actual sugary foods. I've never liked these drinks much, but lately, I've been sick and living off Squirt and 7-Up. I decided to try some sugar-free stuff for the low-cal. I've been working on a bottle of Coke's Fresca for the last two days. It tastes great for some reason, unlike most aspartame crap. And I've been snacking on sweets, and food in general, all day. Before I was drinking Squirt and 7-up, full of real sugar, and I wasn't craving any food, sugary or otherwise. Now I'm drinking Fresca and I can't get enough sugary foods. Now, I usually eat sugar a couple times a day. I eat one as a reward for dessert and maybe a small other one early in the day for a treat. Never had problems with sugar cravings. How does this work. The real sugary drink doesn't make you crave suga... More About: Health , Products , Weight , Sugar , Free

October 3 Election Analysis
2008-10-04 01:49:00 Updated October 4:Obama is really starting to pull away now. McPalin better do something and fast. They've got nothing to lose at this point, and I expect the full bore of 527's with Revered Wright, William Ayers and anything else they can dredge up. I figure things are going to get awful dirty real fast. To be honest, it's probably McCain's only hope at this point.Pennsylvania looks like it is pulling away for Obama now. Biden is a big hit here. It's a funny state. There's Democratic Philly and Pittsburgh and Pennsyltucky, Pennsylsippi and Pennsylbama in between. A bunch of rural, racist Whites, often Democrats, who love to hunt and ain't voting for no nigger.Still, recent polls are giving Obama up to a 12 point lead. Veep Debate Analysis
2008-10-04 01:03:00 Updated October 4:The debate was very interesting. I always thought Joe Biden was a Centrist Democrat and a bore to boot. I also thought Obama blew it by picking him. I was really impressed by Biden for the first time in my life last nite. He was on top of every question, seemed Presidential and Senatorial, and had his emotions properly in check. He barely attacked Palin even once, focusing all his efforts on McCain .Palin was much better than I thought she would be. She really overcame her ridiculously bad interviews, especially the last one with Couric. I found myself, at odd moments, thinking I could vote for Palin, though I won't of course.I have a very open mind and it wanders around a lot. A friend describes it as a "volcano" and says he can't keep up with me. Watching McCain and Palin in the debates, I find myself thinking like a Republican and feeling like I could vote for them. I'm smart enough to realize that this is all illusion, but I must admit that Bush and his crowd... More About: Analysis , Debate

2008-10-03 20:22:00 Updated October 4:This very well-done site is all in the Friulian language. Has lots of good graphics and tons of great links. I can't read it, but it's cool to look at it. If you can read Friulian (or Furlan in Friulian) give it a go. It's also interesting how many bloggers are blogging in Friulian.Italy now accepts Friulian as a minority language and schools are now offering it as a course. It's still spoken by 794,000 speakers in the region. It's spoken in far northeastern Italy. Friulian is closest to Ladin and Romansch. That is, it's straight up from Vulgar Latin along with those two. Those three languages are probably the closest to pure Latin of any of the Romance languages. There are quite a few Friulian speakers in Canada. Until recently, the region was quite poor, hence many speakers left the area. There are also some speakers in Argentina and Brazil. Good overview here. More About: Cool , Site , Linguistics

Why Sarah Palin Makes Rape Victims Pay For Rape Kits
2008-10-03 10:26:00 I have to admit. It never made any sense to me. Palin forces rape victims to pony up $1,500 for a rape kit after they get raped. Why? Is she cruel or what? Who has $1,500 lying around? Not me. No one I know. Everyone I know would have to borrow it on a credit card.Is this the Republican idea of "no free lunch", "user fees" and "everyone pays his way"? What does this cruelty have to do with Palin being a homespun, hockey Mom, Mother of five, in a family of meagerly-paid schoolteachers, regular gal for the regular folks? None of the regular folks I know has $1,500 lying around. Now I finally get it. It's all about abortion. A rape kit has a morning after pill. Now, this is a harmless medicine to me, but to conservative crazies, morning-after pills actually kill babies. The babies are 1-3 days old and are nothing more than a cluster of cells no bigger than the period at the end of this sentence, but they are babies nonetheless.Rape kits are evil because they cause abortions. Split Emerging Between CA Liberals and Left on Illegals
2008-09-25 12:30:00 Here in California (Ground Zero of America's Mass/Illegal Immigration Nightmare) there is getting to be a serious split between some California liberals and the PC California Left ists over the issues of illegal immigration, Sanctuary Cities and other symptoms of major mental illness.Take San Fransisco. You can't get much more insane than Sanctuary Cities, but SF did just that. Not only do they hide illegal alien criminals from the law, they used to hide illegal alien felons, so long as they were underage! Turns out almost all of them ran away from the silly group homes they were dumped in, as we might expect.Turns out some of them afterward went out and murdered people, as we might expect. Turns out a lot of others were really adults who lied and said they were minors, as we might expect.
