CF14 newletter marketing building plots in Rhiwbina?
2008-01-03 12:52:00
"CF14" e-newsletters from Duncan Hockridge are now being used also to market building plots available - currently one "adjacent to 179 Pen y Dre" and one "adjacent to 13 Clos y Blaidd", also "two in Tongwynlais". Map of 179 Pen-y-dre, Rhiwbina, Cardiff CF14Rhiwbina Building plots being sold.Duncan replies ....I am not marketing these sites. The references were purely as a news item as the plots in Rhiwbina had been offered for sale in the Dec. R.H.Seel auction but did not sell. In the past I have often mentioned property items in the area such as the additiional shop for Snails and the closure of roxey etrc.,. A number of my subscribers have told me that they have been seeking plots to build on, hence the references. I am totally against garden grabbing. If you recall at the last Civic Society comittee meeting I mentioned , in confidence, that I was looking at a scheme to save the Pantmawr Inn from being demolished, and this work is continuing. However it is a battle at p...

Planning scupper protest banners
2007-12-10 15:49:00
I have just been told by a supporter that he has received a visit from a Planning Enforcement Officer who has instructed him to remove the banner from his front garden. The officer has also apparently also visited the other houses at which banners are displayed. Apparently someone has made a complaint - could be the developer if he is about to submit a new application. My information is that the poster are legal in that they are less than 0.3sq.m. in area. In fact, temporary signs, relating to local events such as fetes or concerts, may be up to 0.6 sq.m. I guess our signs come into this category as a planning application oblection is a "local tremporary event". People have a right to protest and perhaps planning enforcement would like to get rid of those awful Bright Yellow Barratt signs all over Rhiwbina. Can they make you do this and is there a penalty? You can knock down pubs and beutiful old buildings and bungalows but put up a banner and woahhhhh!! Western Power’s Fourth Planning Application !! Message from Ted Thurgood

Wetern powers No. APP/Z6815/A/07/2042394/WFNow on Appeal to the Welsh AssemblyOn account of the postal strike official notice has been given to me by telephone from County Hall to the effect that there will be a meeting of the Planning Committee on Wednesday 17th October, in Committee Room 2 of County Hall commencing at 1.30 pm. The meeting is to decide what the Committee's decision would have been if Western Power’s Fourth planning application had come before it for determination. The strategic planning reasons given by the Minister and the Inspector for the dismissal of Western Power’s appeal on its Second Application are equally applicable to this Fourth application. It is now essential that this Fourth application is rejected just as decisively and comprehensively by the Planning Committee. I know that for many the timing of this meeting is inconvenient but I hope that as many of you as possible will join us to make it abundantly clear just how strong local opposition cont...

MORE than 130 residents met to discuss controversial plans to replace their community’s only pub with flats.Residents have vowed to campaign against plans to build 36 apartments on the site of the Pantmawr Inn, in Tyla Teg, Pantmawr, Cardiff. The pub is well used by community groups and is the estate’s only amenity.Administrator Malcolm Dean, 51, of Tyla Teg, attended the packed meeting at All Saints Church, Rhiwbina, yesterday. He said: “I’ve lived in Pantmawr for 19 years now. I’ve seen shops go, greens gone, post office gone.“Slowly the community spirit in Pantmawr has totally eroded. The last bastion was the pub.”Owner Mitchell and Butler is selling the pub after claiming a fall in profits. Developer Charles Church plans to knock down the existing building, replacing it with four three-storey blocks of nine one and two-bedroom apartments and 48 car parking spaces.Residents at the meeting said roads in Pantmawr were in a bad condition and too narrow to cope with the e...
