Life is getting hard
2008-05-28 09:25:00 On this situation I think the rich are getting richer, and so are the poor. Everything is difficult since government?s decision to raise fuel prices.1. Premium gasoline Rp 6,000 a liter from Rp 4,500, a liter 2. Solar diesel Rp 4,300 to Rp 5,500 3. Kerosene Rp 2,000 to Rp 2,500The government policy already made impact to the poor and low class like fishermens. We can see on TV that fishermens in some region, didn?t go fishing following a government announced of fuel price increase. Do you know how many fishing boats still in the deck? It might be thousand or more. They won?t losing money just for fuel and also afraid if they got nothing after they had sailed. On this situation, we knows the government is providing BLT (bantuan langsung tunai) or cash aid to helping them, each families get Rp. 100.000 every month through the end of 2008. Fitna VS Verses of Love
2008-04-03 06:58:00 The second anti-Islam film, Fitna, expected to be released on April 20 (in September of 2005, Danish daily Jyllands-Posten published cartoons of man it called Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with a bomb-shaped turban, sparking furor in the Muslim world). The clip from Fitna already aired on a Dutch television channel (I believe it very offensive and insulting to muslim). We all know, since 9/11 Islam and the Muslims in the world have been standing center stage on international issue, and the Islamphobia is getting worst in every where in every aspect of Muslims Life. We are being targeted by a campaign of defamation, denigration, intolerance and discrimination. If you have Fitna, We also have Verses of Love (Ayat-ayat Cinta), a local movie that comes to counter Fitna and show the true face of Islam. Unfortunately, we don't have an english version yet. But I hope, it can help us to tell other believers about the true face of Islam. Wake up to the challenge and show to the world that we are b...
Statement on Anti-Qur'an Dutch Film
2008-03-31 07:00:00 The FIOE Statement on Anti -Qur'an Dutch Film By Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe We, at the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe, with great sadness received the news of the release of the film ?Fitna? by the leader of the Dutch Freedom Party, Geert Wilders. After reviewing its content, we were able to ascertain that the extremist approach espoused by Mr Wilders had stood between him and the exertion of the minimum of effort to find out the truth about Islam from its adherents, rather than seeking with ill-intention and malice to take the verses of the Quran completely out of their context, and force meanings onto them that are unacceptable to Muslims, needless to say others. Moreover, interpreting them in a manner that only serves the objective that he wishes to achieve by his attack on Muslims and what they hold sacred, as pointed out by the Dutch Prime Minister, Jan Peter. This demands of us, today, more than any other time to stand responsibly in face of ...

Let us hand in hand to fight the poverty
2007-12-10 04:45:00 Various discourses about various problems to fight the poverty were developed in the media. Some became real action, while the rest left aside. Actions were vary too, some only exist to complement the already bulky comment, while others really able to boost the excitement to change the condition. Statistical reports say the poverty index is increasing. The official figure of the poor is 17.75 percent in 2006, and it?s a fact of our economic. Amazingly, this formal poverty index according to Teguh Dartanto, a researcher from LPEM FEUI, is not much differs to the figure founded 10 years ago in 1996. According to BPS, in the year of 1996, the poor is recorded 17.47 percent out of total population. Average poverty index for rural areas 21.9 percent in 2006, certainly higher than national index. This figure isn?t significantly different compared to 10 years ago, 19.8 percent. Without suspicious intention toward the reliability, it?s obvious that our prosperity index isn?t correlated to n... Recomended movie
2007-08-29 07:28:00 Matt Damon So far, The Bourne Supremacy is the best action sequel movie more than Die Hard 3. I suggest if you want to see the last sequel of Jason Bourne adventure, it would really help if you've seen the first two movies in this series, the Bourne Identity and the Bourne Supremacy, because it kind of assumes that you already know that Jason Bourne is a guy with amnesia.Matt Damon has definitely made Bourne his own. His character as CIA trained assassin suffering from amnesia who can never quite tell who his friends are or his enemies. He make his character more convincing than the road runner is a tribute to his talent and dedication. I highly recommend The Bourne Ultimatum for you, and I guarantee it won?t disappoint at all. The cool thing about this movie is that the real revenge is not against bad guys (Vosen) in the CIA, but against the high-tech world that maddens mere mortals. Bourne?s body, blow it up with a bomb, expose it to brutal hand-to-hand combat and his body full o... More About: Movie

If that so, people who lives in Jakarta will be save-happy & proud. Jakarta?s governor candidates, Adang Daradjatun and Fauzi Bowo, both have a good and qualified educational background and reputable career to be the next Jakarta?s governor. World No Tobacco Day
2007-05-30 09:29:00 According to WHO, tobacco is the second major cause of death in the world. It is well known that half the people who smoke regularly today ? about 650 million people ? will eventually be killed by tobacco. Equally alarming is the fact that hundreds of thousands of people who have never smoked die each year from diseases caused by breathing second-hand tobacco smoke. And some 200,000 workers die each year due to exposure to smoke at work, while around 700 million children, around half the world's total, breathe air polluted by tobacco smoke, particularly in the home. The World Health Organization has been championing an international campaign against tobacco use and called for a global ban on smoking at work and in enclosed public places. Of course, it would help limit non-smokers' exposure to second-hand smoke, which can kill through heart disease and serious respiratory and cardiovascular illness."The evidence is clear, there is no safe level of exposure to second-hand tobacco s... Fundamentalist and Terrorist
2007-05-22 06:25:00 Why are most of Muslims fundamentalists and terrorists? We all know this question is often hurled at Muslims, either directly or indirectly in world affairs. Muslim stereotypes are perpetuated in every form of the media accompanied by gross misinformation about islam and Muslims. In fact, such discrimination and acts of violence against West media following the bomb blast, where the press was quick to declare a Muslim behind the attack.According to Zakir Naik's book (Common questions about Islam), a fundamentalist is a person who follows and adheres to the fundamentals of the doctrine or theory he is following (for a person to be a good scientist, he should know, follow and practice the fundamentals of science. My Opinion: about Da'wah & Truth of Islam
2007-05-14 06:40:00 I believe that every Muslims want to share their knowledge; even they only have a limited knowledge. And as Muslim is my duty to conveying of all my knowledge to those people has not yet been conveyed. Of course, in order to convey the message of Islam is not an easy to do. But I believe Allah swt (God) will help me to find the right ways. And I know that there are much dialogue and debate become inevitable. This way is very good way, like quran says in Al-Quran 16:125; ??argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious?.If you trying it to a non Muslim, it?s a hard working, because they are always have questions about Islam at the back of their minds that remain unanswered. Perhaps, they agree with our explanations but in the same breath they denied it. My Opinion: Can a Woman be Successful Governor?
2007-05-07 07:48:00 Every time I read news about our next governor or president, there?s only one thing in my mind. Can woman be a successful governor or president? But how could that be? Historically, women were always at the bottom of the political in this country. Historically, Indonesia was slow to give women chance, even though they have the right to vote. Other countries, let me say Manila, Pakistan and India, did it sooner, but this country has always been a little lagging, so it is not surprising it still is.A men may be stronger than a women. But a women, I think, can be smarter than a men. Women can do just about anything a men can do. So, there?s no reason that a women cannot be a governor. Women are also very hard worker, and nicer people than men. And they're apparently more honest than men. Women might make a better than some men, can cooperate with anyone or anything just like men, and takes on a lot of responsibility too. Ghada El Tawil
2007-04-23 05:09:00 Today, I read interesting news about Ghada El Tawil, an Egyptian TV presenter who fights for keeping her right to wear hijab. According to media, this case started in 2002, when Ghada and Hala El Malki, took their problem to civil court. And she brought this case for the second time to the court in 2005.Speaking to the BBC, Ghada said, “It’s my right to wear the veil (hijab), because 75 percent of Muslim women in Egypt wear the hijab and so the presenters are not trying out of the ordinary...”.Well, if we heard this issue comes from non Muslim countries we’re not surprised. But, if it comes from Muslim countries, it becomes Muslims case. Why in Egypt, one of biggest Muslim country where 90 percent of its citizens are Muslims, not allowing woman like Ghada El Tawil to practice her religion. Every Muslim woman in this earth has to fight this discrimination.I cannot agree with the statement from some opposition from Egyptian residents which tells that Ghada must obey the dress ...
Islam
2007-03-28 05:31:00 In Europe, Muslim becomes the largest population. In United State, Muslim is also growing fast, particularly among African Americans. It means that Islam is spreading faster than all other religions in Western. And the rise (in European and American) worries many in the Western world and made Muslims face discrimination. Islamophobia and xenophobia are on the rise in this world, also. According to a 2005 survey by Christian Research, 6.3% of the British population attended Christian services on a weekly basis. Around 4,000 churches will close over the next 15 years, being sold off or rehabilitated for other uses. There are some groups in the world who do not want Islam to prosper, and they do everything they can to feed the media with misinformation to make Islam and Muslims seem bad and terror. How many non Muslims know much about Islam? Almost none. How many know anything at all about people living in Muslim countries? So, the challenge for all Muslims is to let people know abou... 2007-03-26 06:19:00 The recent fire plane of Garuda Boeing 737 400 in Yogyakarta and the lost of Adam Air in the waters in coast of Sulawesi Island, has drawn criticism on the Indonesian authorities of the law of safety standard. The weaknesses are found not only in our airplane only, but also in all transport system, marine and land transports. It means that all transportation in our land can’t catch up good service. And perhaps, more than 50 percent the cause of the accident was human error, Including pilot, operator, maintenance, management and others. We all know that more than 50 percent of planes in Indonesia are more 10 years old. So, its time for our government must ban airlines from buying planes older than 10 years. Garuda Crashed
2007-03-08 08:37:00 My country, Indonesia, has suffered many disasters in recent years. The tsunami, Earthquakes, Bird Flu, Hot Mud, Floods, Plane crashes (1st, Adam Air crashed into the sea off the island of Sulawesi on New Year's Day, killing all 102 people on board, 2nd Adam Air flight broke apart on landing, 3rd, Garuda Boeing 737-400 crashed while landing at Yogyakarta airport), Train, and Ferry (2 Ferry accidents that killed of hundred people). Why this all happened to us? People think that all these disasters are a sign to my country that we are being punished. Until I wrote this, the final death toll from the crash about 50 people and the cause of the accident was unclear. But the officials at airport said that the plane was going too fast and over speeding on landing and made the wheel of the plane fire as it landed. I think the government doesn’t make any serious decision on how to overcome further disasters. It's just a matter of time before the next accident happens More About: Crash , Crashed
Islam and West / Europe
2007-02-19 05:59:00 Well, people in the West , I mean most of non Muslim don’t have much acknowledge about Islam . The only information they get about Islam and Muslims is what they see on the teve or in the newspaper. Unfortunately, all the headlines about terror, explosions, wars and violence. Of course it caused misunderstanding between Islam and those who know nothing of Islam. Since tragedy of 911 in 2001, Islam and the West look upon each other with suspicious eyes. In the west countries, Muslims are now looked upon with fear and suspicion, as though they are not really a part of the communities in which they live. The jilbab (hijab) is regarded as a symbol of some strange religion. Men wearing a beard are seen as fanatics or extremists. What I see on teve/internet is also very disturbing. It’s like that Islam is terror and enemy of the world. Why so many people against Islam. The so-called War on Terror has been linked very clearly to Islam.
