Dick Morris: Barack's Road To Victory
2008-02-10 20:09:00 Received Via EmailBARACK'S ROAD TO VICTORYBy DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANNPublished in the New York Post on February 7, 2008.Is Hillary Clinton bi-coastal? Can she win in America's heartland? These questions surface in the wake of her victories in New York-New Jersey-Massachusetts and in California-Arizona and her defeats everywhere else except in her former native state of Arkansas and its two next-door neighbors, Tennessee and Oklahoma. In the first flush of her California victory, it seemed Clinton had a clear path to the nomination. But the picture looks different on closer examination a day later. While she was winning the dwellings of America's elite, Obama was sweeping everyplace else - Utah, Idaho, Minnesota, Illinois, North Dakota, Kansas and Colorado, many of them states with virtually no black population. And his success in Missouri, Alabama and Georgia show that he continues to dominate Southern states with their large minority populations. Why is Clinton doing so poorl... McCain sort of apologizes to conservatives
2008-02-08 06:16:00 Foreign Policy article link McCain sort of apologizes to conservatives Following Mitt Romney's withdrawal speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, presumptive Republican nominee John McCain had this to say about the topic that has gotten him into such hot water with conservative activists and voters: On the issue of illegal immigration, a position which provoked the outspoken opposition of many conservatives, I stood my ground aware that my position would imperil my campaign. I respect your opposition for I know that the vast majority of critics to the bill based their opposition in a principled defense of the rule of law. And while I and other Republican supporters of the bill were genuine in our intention to restore control of our borders, we failed, for various and understandable reasons, to convince Americans that we were. I accept that, and have pledged that it would be among my highest priorities to secure our borders first, and only after we achieved widesprea... More About: Conservatives , Sort
Publius Pundit: Anti-American Doings over at the Daily Kos
2008-02-08 04:39:00 This is a perfect example of the schizophrenic nature of the left. They will whine and complain about Republicans being too conservative and now they are complaining that the presumptive Republican candidate, John McCain, is not conservative enough. But as we all know the left is not even on speaking terms with logic and consistency most of the time. Publius Pundit article link Anti -American Doings over at the Daily Kos(1) They're terrified of John McCain. So much so that, if you can believe it, they are attacking him because, they claim, he's not a conservative. They believe conservatism is bad for America, so they're taking steps to increase the chances it will take power by attacking Republicans for picking a candidate who, they say, isn't one. If that doesn't seem rational to you, it's not. Not that they're overly rational in any case, but right now they just can't bring themselves to think, you see, about how he'll crush any of their candidates with the independents an... 2008-02-08 03:47:00 Received Via EmailIS HILLARY JUST BI-COASTAL?By DICK MORRIS Published on Dick Morris .com on February 6, 2008.As impressive as Hillary s win in California is, her Super Tuesday performance raises the question: Is she a bi-coastal phenomenon? But in the heartland in between, she only carried her once-native Arkansas and its next door neighbors Tennessee and Oklahoma. But Obama carried Illinois, Alabama, Minnesota, North Dakota, Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Utah, Idaho, Georgia, and Delaware. Can Hillary win the states in the middle?During the next two weeks, we will hear from Virginia, Nebraska, Louisiana, and a host of small states whose total vote equals that of California.By the time the delegates are chosen from California, Hillarys lead will be about 150-200 votes, not an insurmountable margin and one largely based on her lead among super delegates. Dick Morris: Note To Pollsters It's The Single Women Stupid
2008-02-08 00:31:00 Received Via EmailNOTE TO POLLSTERS IT'S THE SINGLE WOMEN, STUPIDBy DICK MORRISPublished in the New York Post on February 6, 2008.Hillary Clinton's victory in California restores her as the front-runner, a title that was in doubt as Barack Obama racked up victory after victory in states he was not supposed to win. While the apportionment of the delegates will distort her victory, the message is clear: Obama's surge fell short.Once again, the polls proved to be blind to the single women, the core of Hillary's base, who flood the polls to back the possible first woman president.Obama may inspire, but it is Hillary who quietly wins the unmarried women who struggle at minimum-wage jobs and desperately need public schools, mass transit, day care, health insurance and public services. The political establishment does not hear their voices, but Hillary's victory on Super Tuesday is based on them. The polls will continue to be wrong because they are not geared to counting those who have n... Dick Morris: Obama Headlines Will Fuel His Drive To The Top
2008-02-06 03:25:00 Received Via EmailOBAMA HEADLINES WILL FUEL HIS DRIVE TO THE TOP By DICK MORRIS Published on Dick Morris.com on February 5, 2008.The USA Today headline on Monday said it all: "Obama Erases Clinton Lead." The press on the day before Super Tuesday has been the best that Obama could hope for. In a race dominated by perception, you could not buy more favorable publicity than the published reports of his closing the gap with Hillary. He will also benefit from the companion articles in most papers showing that McCain enjoys a comfortable lead over Romney. With Independents able to vote in either party primary in half of the Super Tuesday states, this information may induce many anti-Hillary voters to back Obama rather than McCain as the most likely way to beat her. They may figure that McCain no longer needs their votes but that Obama needs them badly as he is now within striking distance of victory.Such is the power of perception in this race and so widespread is tactical vot... Richard Viguerie: Open up the GOP race
2008-02-04 21:40:00 Conservatives Betrayed article link Richard Viguerie: Open up the GOP race By Richard A. Viguerie Open it up! The discombobulated state of the Republican presidential campaign means that it is still possible for someone to jump into the race. Such a candidate could serve as a kingmaker at the Republican convention in September, or even yes, its possible could become the partys nominee. Currently, Republicans are split among the various candidates; most conservatives are undecided, or ambivalent, or support one candidate or another because the alternatives are worse. Having been betrayed by a Republican establishment by a president and members of Congress who pretended to be conservatives in order to get elected grassroots conservatives are justifiably wary of the present contenders for leadership. All the remaining GOP presidential candidates have good qualities; all are flawed. McCain has Reagans toughness, is a Vietnam War hero, supports a ... More About: Race

Karl Rove: Crackup? Not So Fast
2008-02-03 16:56:00 Karl Rove , often declared to be the major architect behind Bush policy and campaign strategy, seems to be trying to minimize George Bushs negative effects on the Republican Party. As usual he pulls no punches with hishistorical analysis and description of the actions of Democrats. But also as usual he uses a bit of smoke and mirrors. Ever since Rove left the Bush administration, I have been waiting to see where he would land. He is seen as too much of a political asset and handicap both, depending on your party affiliation, to just fade away. Some thought he would join the campaign team of a Republican candidate, and that is still possible. Perhaps he is waiting to see how it shakes down before he commits to one candidate or another. Therefore, you have to ask yourself would all of the Republican candidates welcome Rove to their team. Moreover, while he does have a reputation of being a brilliant tactician and strategist he also has high negatives amongst those that are no... More About: Karl Rove , Fast

Still though it is intriguing news that software and internet giant Microsft has been attempting to buy Yahoo . With Google on a seemingly unending rise and spreading into all corners of the internet Microsoft must be desperate to bolster their online presence. Their "Live!" strategy has met with a ho-hum response at best from the internet populace so purchasing Yahoo would seem to be a logical strategy. Even with the Yahoo brand name in a slump Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, muust see this as a real bargain. 2008-02-01 02:19:00 Ted Kennedy is sucking up to the illegal alien vote here in So Cal. Well, wait...you are saying that illegals cannot vote right? We have had at least one Democrat Congressman elected by illegals and people are afraid to say anything because they will be called a racist. Here in California there have been at least two initiatives to allow illegals to vote in local elections. They say it is only for school boards because their chioldren are enrolled in the local schools. Uhh yeah, right... John Edwards to Quit Presidential Race
2008-01-30 14:27:00 Breitbart News article link John Edwards to Quit Presidential Race Jan 30 10:12 AM US/EasternBy NEDRA PICKLERAssociated Press Writer DENVER (AP) - Democrat John Edwards is exiting the presidential race Wednesday, ending a scrappy underdog bid in which he steered his rivals toward progressive ideals while grappling with family hardship that roused voters' sympathies but never diverted his campaign, The Associated Press has learned. The two-time White House candidate notified a close circle of senior advisers that he planned to make the announcement at a 1 p.m. EST event in New Orleans that had been billed as a speech on poverty, according to two of his advisers. The decision came after Edwards lost the four states to hold nominating contests so far to rivals who stole the spotlight from the beginningHillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama. The former North Carolina senator will not immediately endorse either candidate in what is now a two-person race for the Democratic nominati...
McCain Beats Romney in Florida
2008-01-30 03:55:00 John McCain, once considered completely out of the race, has made a John Kerry like come back. That said I imagine he hopes the similarity between the two campaigns goes no farther. The race between McCain and Romney was a squeaker with only a 5% difference. The real news of this primary is Rudy Giuliani's distant third place finish. And Huckabee is not even on the radar for Florida . Giuliani bypassed ealier states to concentrate his efforts and money on Florida but to no avail. My prediction is that Giuliani and maybe even Huckabee will drop out shortly after Super Tuesday. Giuliani's cash is probably drying up right about now and unlike Romney he does not have the personal resources to continue for an extended period. On the Democrat side the candidates all had agreed to not campaign in Florida due to it having lost its delegates. But as might be expected Hillary skirted the agreement slightly and made an appearance surreptitiously just to speak to campaign supporters. But amazi... More About: Beats
Richard Viguerie on Bush and Earmarks: Whoop-De-Doo
2008-01-30 02:02:00 Received Via EmailRichard Viguerie on Bush and Earmarks : Whoop-De-Doo (Manassas, Virginia) Richard A. Viguerie, issued the following statement regarding President Bushs policy announced in the State of the Union address regarding earmarks in appropriations bills: Instead of killing the earmarks in last years huge omnibus appropriations bill, President Bush will leave in place all of the 11,735 earmarks, totaling $16.9 billion. And instead of saying that he would veto any bill containing earmarks, Bush said he would veto legislation that did not reduce the earmarks by 50 percent. Whoop-de-doo. President Reagan vetoed the Highway Bill in 1987 because it contained 121 earmarks. But President Bush has given the go-ahead to 5,867 earmarks--half the current number. Obviously, the Republican team in the White House and Congress has abandoned all pretense of governing as fiscal conservatives. Conservative Underground vs Conservatives Cave
2008-01-29 03:22:00 I joined a political discussion forum called Conservative Underground right around Christmas of 2003. I made many good friends there and some of them will be friends for life I am sure. I was a moderator there for a while and took great pride in what the site was about. When I first joined up there were barely 250 members and today there is about 7300. The site owner, a rock solid conservative that goes by the name RobCrook, is one of the two site administrators. The other is a member that goes by the name of Gator. Gator is a rather outspoken old school conservative and makes no bones about his dislike for the current administration. And to be perfectly honest Gator is quite outspoken about ummm all his beliefs. Gator is also a supporter of Ron Paul and a vocal non-supporter of Israel. As you might imagine this is at odds with many other members at Conservative Underground. Recently this situation became so at odds there ensued a mass exodus of members that started ano... Kennedy Plans to Back Obama Over Clinton
2008-01-27 21:23:00 The endorsement of Ted Kennedy must come as a crushing, but not necessarily unexpected, blow to the Clinton s. You can look at it as a clash between the American aristocracy embodied by the Kennedy dynasty of Massachusetts against the nouveau riche trailer trash Clintons of Arkansas. There has been a growing chasm between the DNC and the DLC wings of the Democrat party and the Clintons and Kennedys are on opposite sides of that divide. The so called 'Clinton Machine' cannot be discounted though in its ability to raise money, command support and to project political power. But going up against the traditional Democrat power base embodied in the Kennedy's will be a hard slog for the Clintons. The Democrat primaries are always fun for conservatives. We get to see Democrats treating each other in a manner normally reserved for conservatives. In other words they are rude, crass and vulgar to each other for a change. It is even more fun to watch the online gathering places of liberals... More About: Obama , Back , Plans
The Bush Legacy?
2008-01-27 06:04:00 Almost immediately upon George Bush taking office most on the left started frothing at the mouth. This grew and grew amongst those on the left to the point that it was given a name. Political author and pundit Charles Krauthammer named this hatred of George Bush "Bush Derangement Syndrome", sometimes called "BDS", and it is displayed by the hard core left even to this day. I suspect that there will be many still enraged by his memory years after he has left office. That said I have to admit that I am not a fan of George Bush. But for me this has been a gradual process rather than the instant hatred adopted by the left. Initially I was quite the Bush supporter. But eventually some cracks started to appear in the Bush administration fascade. For most on the left it was the invasion of Iraq. For me it was his attempts at opening our borders to the invading hordes from Mexico. And the one thing that really drove all concerned crazy about Bush was that he just did not... Giant Crystal Cave Comes to Light
2008-01-26 20:26:00 National Geographic article link Giant Crystal Cave Comes to Light April 9, 2007 Geologist Juan Manuel García-Ruiz calls it "the Sistine Chapel of crystals," but Superman could call it home. A sort of south-of-the-border Fortress of Solitude, Mexico's Cueva de los Cristales (Cave of Crystals) contains some of the world's largest known natural crystalstranslucent beams of gypsum as long as 36 feet (11 meters). How did the crystals reach such superheroic proportions? In the new issue of the journal Geology, García-Ruiz reports that for millennia the crystals thrived in the cave's extremely rare and stable natural environment. Temperatures hovered consistently around a steamy 136 degrees Fahrenheit (58 degrees Celsius), and the cave was filled with mineral-rich water that drove the crystals' growth. Modern-day mining operations exposed the natural wonder by pumping water out of the 30-by-90-foot (10-by-30-meter) cave, which was found in 2000 near the town of Delicias ...
