Dick Morris: Hillary Clinton: Don't Stop Thinking About Yesterday...
2008-01-06 01:19:00 Received via emailHILLARY CLINTON: DON'T STOP THINKING ABOUT YESTERDAY...By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANNPublished on FoxNews.com on January 4, 2008.Fleetwood Mac would roll over in their musical graves if they could hear how the Hillary campaign has gotten into a time warp, obsessing with the 90s while a new political generation demands a focus on tomorrow. Going into Iowa, the Hillary campaign was notable for transcending the gender barrier while Obama struggled to overcome the racial divide. But last night, as the Iowa results came in, it was apparent that the real polarity was over generation and age. The Baby Boomers are being challenged to give up power. Voters under 30 backed Obama by 4:1, signaling the emergence of a new political force in our politics. And the Huckabee victory on the Republican side mirrored the Obama triumph. The evangelical populist reached out to the Reagan Democrats in a way that the GOP has not since the master left the stage. But now, the Republica... Political Correctness at the Pentagon: Stephen Couglin Fired
2008-01-05 07:16:00 More proof that President George Bush is anything but a true conservative. Can you possibly imagine Ronald Reagan allowing a proven leader in the fight against terrorism like Stephen Coughlin being canned on the altar of political correctness? But it should come as no surprise. Look at what Michael Chertoff, Johnny Sutton, Richard Skinner and many others have done to push political correctness in the Department of Homeland Security. And so now it has made it's cancerous way to the Pentagon . Thank you George Bush. Washington Times article link Coughlin sacked By Bill Gertz Stephen Coughlin, the Pentagon specialist on Islamic law and Islamist extremism, has been fired from his position on the military's Joint Staff. The action followed a report in this space last week revealing opposition to his work for the military by pro-Muslim officials within the office of Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England. Mr. Coughlin was notified this week that his contract with the Joint Staff will ... More About: Political , Fired , Political Correctness , The Pentagon
Hillary Booed at NH Democratic Party Dinner
2008-01-05 03:13:00 Is this merely the first of many post Iowa let downs for Hillary Clinton? Her and her campaign staff are belting out the same tired song that did not work so well in iowa even now leading into New Hampshire. The constant refrain of her 'experience' from being First Lady is increasingly falling on deaf ears. Their attempts at building up Hillary by tearing down Obama seem to be backfiring on them. The simple fact is that people, other than her direct supporters, neither like nor trust Hillary Clinton. And with good reason. She is not a likable person plus an out of control temper and the mouth of a sailor. Her constant triangulating has caught up with her in a big way. The never ending pandering is even failing to get her the expected acceptance and backing that it has in the past. Cracks in the Ice Queens armor? Methinks so. Dick Morris: Hillary On The Ropes
2008-01-05 01:54:00 Received via emailHILLARY ON THE ROPES By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANNPublished in the New York Post on January 4, 2008.The amazing victories by Obama and Huckabee in Iowa are truly historic. They demonstrate the impact and viability of a message of change in both parties. In the Democratic Party, Obama, winning in a totally white state, shows that racism is gone as a factor in American politics. On the Republican side, Huckabees win shows how a truly compassionate conservative can win by harvesting voters who want the message of concern for the poor and for values to prevail. But what of Hillary ? Shes down but shes not out. Hillary Clinton, in the first really contested election of her own political career, lost dismally-- outclassed, outdrawn, and outpolled by Barack Obama. Her campaign professionals (including Bill) decided to stress experience, precisely the wrong message in a Democratic primary. Prematurely appealing to the center and abandoning the left,... Clinton Team Retools For N.H.
2008-01-04 14:50:00 This is a pretty good inside look at the internal woekings of the Clinton campaign. Staffers are constantly trying to spin the results and even rewrite history to make the stinging loss in Iowa into a positive for Hillary. However, a loss is a loss and no matter how much makeup you put on a pig, it is still a pig. So Hillalry's staff is doing it's job, Hillary is in denial about her third place finish and they have decided to constinue with the same strategy for New Hampshire that did not work in Iowa. Many is the time I have seen Democrats decide that the reason they lost an election was that they did not give the people enough socialism when that is precisely the reason people did not vote for them. In this case Hillary and Company are speaking out of both sides of their mouths insisting that Hillary has more experience than Obama and that she is the candidate for change while being a solid part of the Washington DC establishment and that Obama is not. Hillary the Underdog?
2008-01-04 14:32:00 Not surprisingly Hillary is rewriting history to portray herself not as a humiliated ex front runner in Iowa but as a come from behind underdog. And she is doing this without a bit of shame or embarassment. I guess I should give her credit for being such an accomplished liar. Which is, of course, a necessary skill for a politician. Washington Post Fact Checker article link Hillary the Underdog ? Hillary Clinton talking to campaign workers in Iowa. "I think because it's so close, you know, when I started here I was in single digits. I mean nobody expected me to be doing as well as I'm doing in Iowa." --Hillary Clinton, This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Dec. 30, 2007.With defeat looming in Iowa, Hillary Clinton did her best to transform herself in the eyes of the public from a potentially humiliated front-runner to a scrappy underdog. Has Fox News has joined the enemy by not inviting Ron Paul?
2008-01-04 02:15:00 Received via email Richard Viguerie to the Fox News Channel: Have You Joined the Enemy ? Richard A. Viguerie, the author of Conservatives Betrayed: How George W. Bush and Other Big Government Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause (Bonus Books, 2006), issued the following statement in response to word that the Fox News Channel apparently plans to bar Ron Paul from its January 6 New Hampshire presidential debate: I am dismayed that the Fox News Channel apparently plans to bar Ron Paul from its January 6 presidential debate. I have not yet declared my support for any candidate, but I find this action inexcusable. Roger Ailes, the president of Fox News, is a brilliant political operative and businessman. Dick Morris: Who Needs What From Iowa Today?
2008-01-04 02:05:00 Received via emailWHO NEEDS WHAT FROM IOWA TODAY?By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANNPublished in the New York Post on January 3, 2008.The Iowa caucuses mean different things to different candidates. Of course Obama, Clinton and Edwards, for the Democrats, and Huckabee and Romney, for the Republicans, are vying for a win in Iowa. But there are separate sub-primaries going on as well: Obama v Edwards for the position of chief challenger to Clinton, McCain v Giuliani for the right to wear the moderate Republican mantle, and Fred Thompson v Oblivion for the right to stay in the race. So heres the scorecard to use in keeping track of what each candidate needs to get from Iowa. Hillary ClintonIf she scores a decisive triumph, the race for the nomination is almost over. A victory here would likely propel her to a win in New Hampshire and the nomination would be hers. But she doesnt need to win. Thompson may drop out, back McCain
2008-01-03 14:41:00 Fred Thompson has been the reluctant candidate all along. His dropping out has been expected by many. From his initial hesitancy to announce for the candidacy did not bode well even with the fevered excitement over his possible candidacy by traditional conservatives. People were just not happy with Flip Flop Romney or Hillary Giuliani. Fred Thompson seemed to just fit the bill and he garnered all sorts of praise as the next Ronald Reagan. As it turns out Fred Thompsons acting profession seems to be the only thing he has in common with The Gipper. People are probably scrambling mentally to convince themselves they can be happy with one of the other candidates if Thompson drops out. Frankly, I am still just as disgusted with the whole lot of them now as much as I was several months ago. Clinton errs on Pakistan
2008-01-02 01:30:00 The smartest woman in the world has repeatedly revealed her ignorance of politics in Pakistan . And considering she has been making such a point of stressing her experience and knowledge of foreign affairs this is a pretty serious stumble. Will the other candidates make use of this? They would be fools not to. Ben Smith article link Clinton errs on Pakistan Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton was praised in the wake of the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto for demonstrating her command of the players and the issues at stake in Pakistan, even as another candidate, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, was criticized for stumbling over details. But in two confident television appearances, on CNN and ABC, Clinton made an elementary error about Pakistani politics: She described President Pervez Musharraf as a "candidate" who would be "on the ballot."In fact, Musharraf was reelected to the presidency in October. Democrat Wants Military to Fail in Iraq (video)

Obama Pulls Ahead in Register Poll
2008-01-01 21:34:00 The Caucus article link Obama Pulls Ahead in Register Poll By Katharine Q. SeelyeDES MOINES The highly anticipated final poll from The Des Moines Register is out and it has some surprising news: Senator Barack Obama appears to have widened his lead over his Democratic rivals, with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton coming in second and former Senator John Edwards a close third. On the Republican side, Mike Huckabee came in first, with 32 percent of those polled, to 26 for Mitt Romney. John McCain came in third with 13 percent. The results are at odds with other recent polls, which show varying candidates in the lead.In the Register poll, Mr. Obama won 32 percent of those polled, who were the relatively small universe of caucus goers. Mrs. Clinton won 25 percent and Mr. Edwards 24 percent. That percentage would put Mr. Obama, who could be the nations first black president, beyond the polls margin of error of 3.5 percent, although polling in Iowa is notoriously unreliable because of ...
Ron Paul Raises $19.5 Million
2008-01-01 20:23:00 The other Republican candidates must be scratching their heads at the continued success of Congressman Ron Pail. Maybe there is even a small bit of fear mixed in. People are drawing the inevitable comparisons to Howard Dean in the last election and some are even predicting a similar fate. Whatever happens Ron Paul has shown himself, his message and maybe even more importantly, his supporters are a force to be reckoned with. Which makes his recent exclusion from the next debate being sponsored by Fox and ABC News all the more surprising. The Caucus article link Paul Raises $19.5 Million By Sarah WheatonFor most of the candidates, the fourth quarter was more about stumping than fund-raising. Not so for Representative Ron Paul of Texas, who has achieved that Howard Dean-esque feat of turning fervent netroots support into cold, hard cash. The libertarian-leaning Republican raked in $19.5 million over the last three months, which is likely to be more than any other G.O.P. candidates hau...
Winnowing the Debate Field
2008-01-01 19:55:00 On the one hand the networks have been getting enormous pressure to give candidates more time to answer questions. Yet they still have to remain within a set time frame. So if you increase time allowed for answers but have to keep overall time the same then you reduce the number of questions or the number of candidates in the debate. And obviously whoever is excluded will raise hell about it. The candidates just have to face this as a fact of life. The one thing I will say is that the debate hosts better damned well be consistent in their choices. The Caucus article link Winnowing the Debate Field By Michael Falcone and Sarah WheatonThe debate stage, it seems, will be getting a little roomier. Invitations to participate are getting harder to come by in 2008.Both Fox News and ABC News, which are sponsoring debates next weekend in New Hampshire, are restricting who can attend.Fox has invited five of the Republican candidates to a televised forum in Manchester on Sunday, but not Repres...
He Could Care Less About Obama's Story
2007-12-31 18:35:00 Reza Alan is a professor of creative writing at the University of California Riverside which is right here in my home town. The headline caught my eye and I immediately knew there was something different about this story. It is often enough, as in at least daily, that I read an opinion piece on Americas actions in the middle east. They are almost universally negative and contain little but condemnation for our actions. A person can only take so much before they start just blowing past the rhetoric and hyperbole. This is nothing new as the media seems to delight in offering a soapbox to anyone with a negative sentiment towards America. Still, something about this story was different. I read on. But instead of the usual talking points from an anti American professor we are paying to teach our own children to hate us what he had to say came from the heart. And it made sense. What he describes is typical behavior for a lot of Americans. He describes how we go into something with good in... More About: Story , Care

Download Uproar: Record Industry Goes After Personal Use
2007-12-30 18:19:00 The arrogance and short sightedness of the RIAA is astonishing. In their attempts to cling to an outmoded and dying business model they are suing their best customers. The people that listen to and buy the most music are also generally the ones that also download the most music online. And in an incredible new harassing tactic they are saying that you are not even allowed to copy music from a legally purchased CD to your computer. This would most often be done to upload music from a CD to your iPod or Zune type of MP3 player. Their tactic of suing their best customers would seem to indicate that one of two things is happening. Either they see themselves as having such a monopoly on the music industry they can treat their customers however badly they desire knowing they have no other option but to still deal with them. Or the RIAA is so scared for their very existence they are willing to go to any lengths to survive. Once again that would include taking legal action against their bes... S.C. Republicans get bogus Romney card
2007-12-30 16:49:00 In a case such as this there are two possibilities. The obvious one is that a Republican competitor to Mitt Romney had this done (If this were the case most likely it would be done without the direct knowledge of a candidate). Or it might be a Democrat candidates supporter doing this as an attempt to smear all of the conservative candidates. The easy choice would be the former but me, I would go with the latter. Top 10 Climate Myth-Busters for 2007
2007-12-30 09:13:00 Fox News article link Top 10 Climate Myth -Busters for 2007 By Steven MilloyIve made up my mind. Dont confuse me with the facts. That saying most appropriately sums up the year in climate science for the fanatic global warming crowd. As Al Gore, the United Nations, grandstanding politicians and celebrities, taxpayer-dependent climate researchers, socialist-minded Greens, climate profiteers and other members of the alarmist railroad relentlessly continued their drive for greenhouse gas regulation in 2007, the years scientific developments actually pointed in the opposite direction. Heres the round-up:1. Cracked crystal balls. Observed temperature changes measured over the last 30 years dont match well with temperatures predicted by the mathematical climate models relied on by the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), researchers reported. The models predict significantly warmer atmospheric temperatures than actually occurred, despite the availability of...

You don't know yet who did it -- whether it's a strike meant to settle a running political feud, or a calculated effort to disrupt the elections. It might even be the start of something bigger, perhaps a brazen coordinated power grab that will send you packing, or to the grave. Her supporters are calling for your head. Bhutto Killing Puts EuroLeaders On Notice: Time to Choose
2007-12-30 04:49:00 The assassination of Benazir Bhutto should be taken as a wake up call not just by European leaders but by the Democrats that have been so eager to prostrate themselves to Allah in the name of multiculturalism. In Bush's Final Year, The Agenda Gets Greener
2007-12-29 15:24:00 One of the bigger misconceptions about conservatives is that we do not care about the environment. Let's put all the hyperbole aside for a minute and ask ourselves who would really want to have polluted water and smoggy skies. The knee jerk response from the left would be anyone that is a Republican. So why is there such a gulf between both sides of this issue? One side has taken the seeming care and concern for the environment to the levls of a religion. Why do I say 'seeming'? That is because I think a portion of the environmental movement has been hijacked by people who could not care less about it. Their real agenda is to punish American business and to reduce the quality of our lifestyle. I think it is safe to say that everyone wants a clean environment. But some of the more radical environmentalists define 'clean' as lacking in human presence. Sorry, we are just a smuch a part of nature as the spotted owls kangaroo rats the left so loves. Socialism is the lazy incompetent... More About: Final , Agenda , Year
Obama vs Clinton on Foreign Policy
2007-12-29 06:01:00 Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have been trading shots back and forth over who is more qualified in foreign affairs and who has more foreign affairs supporters. You know what it reminds me of? A couple of kids bragging about winning the Special Olympics. Sure, they won but they're both still a couple of retards. Terribly politically incorrect I know but I think it makes the point well. Washington Post article link Obama vs Clinton on Foreign Policy Senators Obama and Clinton are dragging us down into the weeds of the federal bureaucacy with this debate. Few voters are likely to be swayed by which campaign can boast the support of the former deputy assistant secretary for Veterans Affairs, but this has become a mano a mano duel at this point. So let the battle commence. In order to shoot down Obama's claim, the Clinton campaign posted a list of 84 "Clinton administration officials" now advising Hillary, on their website, HillaryHub. Obama responded with a list of 73 for... More About: Foreign Policy
Bush Plans to Veto Defense Authorization Bill
2007-12-28 23:56:00 The latest Defense Authorization bill has a small provision intended to give terror victims recourse in US courts to file suit against other countries. The problem with it though is it would be possible for victims of Saddam Hussein to sue the new Iraqi government. The Democrats are squawking that they should have been contacted earlier for possible changes to the bill. Would they have worked with the president on this issue? They say they would have but who really knows. The interesting thing to watch will be how Democrat supporters will react to this. They are already very vocal about the Do Nothing Congress. This should just further enrage them. And people ask why I never watch sitcoms and reality shows. This reality provides entertainment you could not possibly buy.
