Hillary Clinton Objects on Benazir's Investigation
2007-12-29 19:11:00
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton , Democrat of New York has increased the mounting pressure on President Musharraf by doubting upon his credibility to hold transparent inquiry of assassination of Benazir Bhutto. In her statement, which came as a shock to the Pakistani authorities, she said,"I don't think the Pakistani government at this time under President Musharraf has any credibility at all." While talking to CNN in an interview, she suggested that the investigation regarding the murder of Benazir should be carried on like the inquiry into the of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri.Though Bush Administration hasnt said anything which would have implied directly or indirectly about the inability of Pakistani officials to hold credible investigation, an unnamed American official quoted to CNN that US administration was "uneasy" with the distrust over Musharraf regime within and outside Pakistan.Would it mean that US may send teams to aid Pakistanis in this investigation? Profile of Bilawal Zardari : Successor of Benazir Bhutto
2007-12-29 17:56:00
Bilawal Zardari was born on 21 September 1988 and is the son of former Prime Minister of Pakistan late Benazir Bhutto and Pakistani political figure Asif Ali Zardari. Bilawel Zardari is brother of Bakhtawar and Aasifa. Like his father, Bilawal likes horses and enjoys horse riding. His hobby of target shooting can easily be linked to the passion for hunting that the Bhutto and Zardari clan has. Physical fitness is also an aspect that this young lad is very conscious of and he is already a black belt in Taekwondo. Bilawal is currently living in in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He graduated from Rashid School for Boys, a school owned by the ruling family of Dubai, providing the highest standards of education to the elite in the country. Bilawal is doing his A-levels after successfully gaining top grades for his GCSEs. He is expected to continue his higher education in the United Kingdom and United States. He has been appointed as the successor of his assassinated mother to lead the P...

Bilawal Zardari is Successor of Benazir Bhutto
2007-12-29 17:49:00
Though it isnt officially announced but reports are that Bilawal Zardari will be the new chairman of Pakistan People's Party. In the will of Benazir Bhutto , she appointed her sister Sanam Bhutto as a replacement if anything happened to her, but as Sanam Bhutto is purely apolitical and was also unwilling to take the onus, and Asif Ali Zardari, the husband of Benazir also excused himself of the job, it has been almost decided that Bilawal Zardari would be the next chairman.   It would be little hard for the diehard Bhutto supporters as they would have to digest the migration of PPP chairmanship from Bhutto family to Zardari family, which isnt that much celebrated in PPP and also in Pakistan due to alleged corruption by Asif Ali Zardari. This is going to be more difficult for the PPP, as Bilawal is rookie, and hasnt any idea of Pakistani politics and its intracacies. It would be more complex for him, as bigwigs in the party like Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Yousuf Raza Gilani an...

Who is the real killer of Ms Bhutto
2007-12-29 10:39:00
Government has gone to a defensive position on the issue the how Ms Bhutto lost her life at the conclusion of public address in Rawalpindi on 27th December. There was a press conference from doctors who attended her at general hospital, then by the spokesman of interior ministry, then a announcement of telephone call tapping. All these events are contradictory to each other. Now a question comes out how is the real killer of Ms Bhutto:1. Bait-Ullah Mehsub Yes / No 'No'2. Taliban Yes / No 'No'3. Al-Qaeda Direct Involvement Yes / No ?4. Intelligence Agencies of other countries Yes / No ?5. 'Somebody' Yes / No ?6. Who Else Yes / No ?

With grief and deep sorrow we condemn the brutal act of assassination of Mohtarma Bainazir Bhutto. A great leader is not within us, may Allah her soul rest in eternal peace and give the courage to her successors the bear the irrecoverable loss, Ameen. I salute her brave approach after the blast she came out of her car to show the will against such acts. Her funeral ceremony will be held in her ancestral village Garhi Khuda Bakhsh and she will be laid to rest besides her father late Mr Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Alas we lost her and we may loose many like her in coming future. Why? There are two options:Option # 1Because the stage is all set to undermine Pakistan, which is a nuclear country. Killing of such personalities like Gul Jee, Bainazir and many others will create unrest between the fans and riots may be fueled to erupt in consequences of such killings/acts. It was started from Waziristan then Balouchistan and then Lal Masjid etc etc This situation directly favours the anti-Pakista...

For God's Sake : Save Our Freedom
2007-12-29 10:24:00
True, that we are passing through very very dire times. Clouds of despondency and gloom have engulfed the nation from Karachi to Khyber. Crisis upon crisis have left the masses numb and dejected. People who have been protesting for the last 45 hours are still gloomy, but please put yourselves together and calm your nerves, and start thinking what to do next?   It's useless to look towards the government, after watching the press conference of DG ISPR Waheed Arshad and his stubborn attitude. Pakistani nation stands united. We need to forget our internal differences. Four provinces should converge, and find a way out of this debacle.   Its high time that our political leaders should join hands and heads and ponder upon what to do next. Leaders of People's Party should show a big heart for the survival of the country, and they should urge their workers to show restrain. They should call back their workers from streets, so that law enforcement agencies can curb the...

Honour The Blood of Benazir
2007-12-29 08:19:00
One thing which should become obvious to the present regime is that change is inevitable. Forces of status quo cannot have their say more, and the tragic murder of Benazir Bhutto is proving to be a catalyst for change. Its true that the killings, rioting, arson and looting which is occuring (though its receding quickly) throughout the country, especially in the heartland of Sindh province is mainly due to the fact that miscreants are exploiting the situation, but common people are also showing their hatred towards the regime.   This hatred has amassed for years, and people are venting out their anger over the price hikes,  hoarding, load shedding, slain of judiciary, muzzling of media, un-employment, acute poverty, scourage of terrorism, and the aloof attitude of regime and their disinclination towards the real democracy. Temporary and makeshift arrangement to shun the protests wont do. The storm has begun, and its not going to recede.   People of Pakistan ar...

Update on Benazir : An Eyewitness in Lahore during Riots
2007-12-28 20:00:00
Yesterday was bad, quite a few people were stuck in their offices near the press club, as they were burning buses outside in Saddar area, Lahore Cantt. A software guy, who we have hired for a client was stuck in the office all night and went home early morning as nobody wanted to risk it. They burned a petrol pump near my home last night that is. I went out with my family to get some groceries an hour ago, 99% of the shops were closed (they're usually open in this area till midnight)... we only found a medical store, and a few restaurant type shops open no bakeries or stores.

Pakistan People's Party : Who's Next ?
2007-12-28 17:53:00
Hours after the shock of Benazir Bhutto's slain settled in, along with the mourning, doom and gloom, people started wondering about her successor.   There are many heavyweights in the People's Party of Pakistan (PPP), but the problem in finding the right successor for the late Benazir is that she was the "party." She was selected the chairperson of the party for life, and she groomed nobody else for the role, just in case. In her absence, and especially in the days of her self-imposed exile, Makhdoom Amin Fahim somehow managed to control the helm of the affairs of the party, and he did a find job in the given circumstances though he lacks the tenacity, vigor and the aggression Benazir rendered.   It has been periodically heard in the PPP circles that Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Qaim Ali Shah, and Yousuf Raza Gilani weren't that much happy with the somewhat docile leadership of Makhdoom Amin Fahim, but the principled and loyalist approach of Amin Fahim has earned him lots o...
Bhuttos and Kennedys ; United in Tragedy
2007-12-28 17:35:00
Though Benazir didnt enjoy the mythical status of John F. Kennedy, she shared similarities in tragedies with him. Tragedies in Kennedy Family: JFK was America's 35th president when he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, in 1963. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested but he too was murdered before facing trial. John's brother Robert Kennedy was shot dead in June 1968, while campaigning in Los Angeles for the Democratic presidential nomination. Long before that another brother of President Kennedy had died in a plane crash in 1944 and his sister killed in another plane crash in 1948. A second sister was forced into a mental home by the Kennedy's overbearing father, Joseph. The late president's remaining brother, Senator Edward Kennedy, ruined his chances of the presidency after he was involved in a car accident in which he left his passenger to die. The late Robert Kennedy's son, Joe, was also in an accident which left a passenger paralysed. Tragedies in Bhutto Fami...

A Flame Lost
2007-12-28 17:29:00
From Ed Roberts I am upset today The sun is not shining Winter's breath is blowing There's another storm on the way   The world itself Is a little bit colder A light A single flame Went out this morning The news spread quickly   Benazir Bhutto Is dead   It's a world away From my small home Here in Oklahoma I never met her She had no clue Who I am But like so many others I feel her loss   She dared to stand up Against those in power Against the social And gender classes around her She tried to make things better Tried to build a better world around her For those who have yet To be born   Hate took her away today A bomber Blinded by men who refuse to let go Men who want things to stay the same   The man that did this today Was merely a tool A weapon against change Fired from some office of power By men too cowardly To stand and fight for themselves   Yes I am upset today And I will allow my heart To feel a few hours of grief Allow my soul to shed ...

Update on Benazir Death : Status of Pakistan's Jan 8, 2008 Elections
2007-12-28 08:34:00
Previous night just after the slaying of Benazir Bhutto and 20 People's Party workers outside the WASA gate of Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, it was reported from President House, Islamabad that an announcement of posponing the Jan 8 elections will be made, though it didnt come late at night. Now as the emergency cabinet meeting in Islamabad concludes, the caretaker Prime Minister Mohammad Mian Soomro, has said that status of election in Pakistan on Jan 8 is clear and they will be carried on according to the schedule.   Though the rumours in the capital and elsewhere in the country are strong that there is a strong possibility of suspension of elections, as the PML-N has already boycotted the elections. American pressure is also mounting on present regime to not to defer the elections 2008 in Pakistan. US point is that it will only fulfill the designs of terrorists.

Bhuttos & Gandhi - United in tragedy
2007-12-28 07:09:00
The brutal killing of Benazir Bhutto by Al Qaeda reminded Indians of the killing of Rajiv Gandhi by LTTE suicide bombers .Both were children of former Prime Ministers i.e. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Indira Gandhi. Both came from prominent political dynasties in their respective countries, and were given the best in terms of education.Indira Gandhi was killed by her own guards while Zulfikar Bhutto was hung by Zia..While Bhutto went to Oxford and Harvard, Rajiv Gandhi was sent for his higher studies to the Imperial College London, the University of London, and Cambridge University?s Trinity College. Both became Prime Ministers after the assassinations of their parents. Both won massive mandates from the people of their respective countries. Both suffered similar fates while campaigning for elections. Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on May 21, 1991 in Sriperumbedur, Tamil Nadu, by a Sri Lankan female suicide bomber, when he was no longer a Prime Minister.Indian's express heartfelt sorrow to...

Late Benazir Bhutto
2007-12-27 19:20:00
"This is terrible, We cannot find words." Such was the reaction of weeping people of Pakistan. After suffering through price hikes, hoarding, emergency, PCO, murder of judiciary and press, plethora of Suicide attacks, they now are witnessing the shocking murder of Benazir Bhutto . Her murder is the murder of Pakistani nation.   Its not about People's Party or Muslim League or whoever else. Its about the humanity. Its about the courage of the lady, who came back to the country from the posh palaces of London and Spain to fight for his countrymen, and she was well received. Though she was accused of deals and dheels, she nonetheless ruled the hearts of millions of people in the country.   President Musharraf has done well to announce nation-wide mourning, he would do more well only now he transfers the power to the representatives of the people.   The terrorists should be dealth with iron hands without mercy.
