Roadkill or the Chance at a New Home?
2007-07-02 23:17:00 It was early in the morning, probably around 2:00 am. I drove down the dark and rural roadway and saw an animal dart in front of the car. I managed to avoid it, but noticed that something else was dead in the road. I turned around and climbed out of the patrol car. In the bushes were five or six live kittens while two more had already been killed by passing cars. The kittens wouldn’t come to me, so I drove to the closest 24 hour restaurant and returned with a can of tuna and a box. Within an hour, I had all the remaining kittens caught and boxed up safely. One of the restaurant employees took custody and found them all good homes. I never did find a full grown cat and I’ve always wondered if someone left those kittens so they didn’t have to deal with them.
