Happy Independence Day! There are 1150 current active listings in the Rochester Residential Housing Mark et with an average price of $250,516 and average market time of 140 days. There were 86 new and back on the market listings last week (June 26-July 2) with an average list price of $200,943 and an average market time of 61 days. Half as many homes (47) wnt to pending (under contract) last week, with an average price of $217,139 and average market time of 125 days. There were 88 closings, with an average price of $182,872 and market time of 74 days.

Rochester Area Real Estate Update June 16, 2006

The Roche ster area housing market began its seasonal slowdown in May with 380 new and back on the market listings, a decrease of 5% from the previous month. There were 245 homes going to pending (under contract) in May, down 16% from the previous month. The Rochester housing market continues to favor buyers with 1/2 again as many homes coming on the market as being sold. Although market time decreased slightly in May, with an average of 102 days to pending, 9 days shorter than a month earlier, this still represents an increase of 25 days compared to a year ago.

Twin Cities real estate sales drop 9%

Home sales in the Twin Cities , Minnesota area tumbled for the second straight month in May, while median home-price growth continued to slow, according to three metro Twin Cities Realtor associations. Realtors reported 5,039 closed home sales last month, down 9.3 percent from 5,553 closed sales in May 2005. During the same period, the median home price gained 1.1 percent in the 13-county metro area, rising from $227,501 to $230,000. Full Article at InmanNews.

Real estate refinancings hit 4-year low

Overall mortgage applications tumbled 1.4 percent last week on a seasonally adjusted basis from the week before, as refinancings fell for the third consecutive week, the Mortgage Bankers Association reported today.The seasonally adjusted purchase index increased slightly to 395.6 from 395.5 the previous week whereas the refinance index decreased by 3.8 percent to 1,356 from 1,409 one week earlier. Other than a brief dip in December 2005, the refinance index is at its lowest level since April 2002, according to the MBA.Full Article at InmanNews.
