Speakers, green products, and environmentally conscious builders will be presenting their wares and latest ideas. I would love to have this beautifully written piece about the environment and waxing eloquent about all we can do, ... More About: Building , Expo , Green Building , Green
Hard Rock- Soft Open
2008-04-18 22:57:00 Is this some strange proverb? No, the Hard Rock Park had a “soft” opening on Tuesday. I have yet to go, but went on an unofficial backstage tour last week, and it is so awesome! The look and feel of the place is fun and edgy– it’s no Disney World. My first clue was the poster ... More About: Open , What , Hard Rock
Deal of the Week!
2008-04-04 15:36:00 There exactly 5,600 3 bedroom homes available to buy in the Myrtle Beach area as of today. Interestingly, there are 560 homes under contract. Hmmm, I think that means there’s a lot to choose from here! The house pictured is one that I just successfully negotiated for my buyers. It is in an incredible community, Sunset ... 2008-03-27 16:13:00 I have been there to enjoy my son’s first steps, first words, and, now, his first rock concert! We went to the House of Blues last week to see Rusted Root. My 15 Minutes of Fame Part II: House Hunters Returns
2008-03-15 17:20:00 The House Hunters crew that was here in November came back this week to follow up with my buyers, Sarah and Kelly Geyer. This time was a much warmer day and we didn’t have to wear parkas while filming the “shouldn’t it be warm there?” Myrtle Beach episode. The pic includes the Geyers, the sound guy, ... Short Sales
2008-03-07 15:20:00 Before this happens, there is the possibility of a short sale. This option is an agreement between the homeowner and the lender that discounts the mortgage due to a financial hardship. It’s better for both parties than a fore-closure too. Not surprisingly, with the massive sub-prime loans, ARMs, and investor held mortgages, short sales are ... More About: Sales , Short
Hot Job Fair in Myrtle Beach!
2008-02-27 19:27:00 I needed a good attention grabber for this article. I think this one does the trick and it does relate to jobs. Do Myrtle Beach Schools Get Good Grades?
2008-02-21 21:52:00 If you’re considering moving to Myrtle Beach and you have kids, then you are, at least, curious about the schools here. I was a teacher and counselor in the tiny school system my son attended in Illinois. It caused me major anxiety to think about moving him from that school and moving him from the ... Manatee Road Trip- Two Thumbs Up!
2008-02-12 15:51:00 For over a decade, the fifth grade students at Forestbrook Elementary have taken an extreme field trip to swim with manatees in Florida. The destination is Crystal River, a pristine body of water leading to the Gulf of Mexico, home to thousands of manatees. The warmer canals provide the perfect place for the manateees to stay ... Myrtle Beach Homeowner?s Associations
2008-02-08 15:41:00 A homeowner’s association is about more than the pool and other amenities. Coming from Ohio, I had never experienced a homeowner’s association and didn’t know what to expect. I now see how it helps to keep a well-maintained community with no cars on cinder blocks and no undergarments dangling from clotheslines in the back yard. Yet, ... We Have a Secret and We?re Gonna Tell?
2008-01-28 15:54:00 For many of us, this picture is a good representation of a dream oasis. We have hectic lives, tons of stress, and sometimes, little satisfaction with what we’re doing. Laying on the beach in peace for as long as we want is something that we’d like in our lives. Well, a few friends and I ... More About: What , Secret , Wild Blue , Myrtle Beach , Gonna
Biz Networking at the Beach
2008-01-25 21:27:00 There are loads of networking groups around Myrtle Beach – Business Network International, Professional Network Connections, and many more– one of the new ones I am attending and enjoy is TIPS. This group is sponsored by a great husband and wife team, Drs. Elaine and Alan Levy, who own Sea One Family Chiropractic in Myrtle Beach. There is a healthy variety of various services represented from doulas to home repair to web design. Pictured here are TIPS members Dr. Alan, Dr. David Powers a real renaissance man who runs Ocean Breeze Awnings, coaches, and has just had his book published “Becoming a Turtle”, and Susan Runser of the temp hiring firm IHT Grand Strand. TIPS meets Thursday at 8:15 am at Atlanta Bread Company on 76th Ave. and N Kings Hwy. Starting Feb. 5 TIPS will meet at the Cooper House Event Center on Old Hwy 544, and starting Feb. 6 meetings will be at Cafe Rouge in Carolina Forest too (both of these will be at 2:00... Interest Rate, Stock Market Headaches
2008-01-22 16:52:00 The Federal Reserve cut the federal funds rate from 4.25 down to 3.5 percent and its discount rate from 4.75 to4. This reduction marked the biggest single-day rate move by the central bank since October 1984. More cuts to come at the end of the month to try and head the US from a course toward ... My 15 Minutes of Fame!
2007-12-07 01:48:00 When I was first contacted by the producer of House Hunters I thought it was a joke. In my mind it was like those e-mails I get so often from the President of Nigeria who just needs my checking account number to deposit a million dollars.” To my amazement, this was not a joke! Free Food!
2007-12-04 15:21:00 With Christmas coming, I’m all about saving every dollar. The kid on the left is mine, and, like many other Gen Y techno nuts, he wants impossible to find, pricey game systems. So, anyway, here’s a few places where your darling angels can chow for free: Qdoba Mexican Grill– you’ve got to say “Aren’t the kids ... More About: Food , Free , Wild Blue , Lawson
Sleigh Bells Ring, Are you Listening?
2007-11-26 15:29:00 OK, so you don’t hear sleigh bells in Myrtle Beach and you don’t see sleds either (and, I’m grateful we don’t need them here), but the mood was perfect for imagining while listening to the Andrew Thielen Band on Saturday at La Belle Amie Vineyard in Little River. The Holiday Spirits Festival is a great after-Thanksgiving tradition here. Big Band music, dancing on the lawn, and, of course, incredible wine enjoyed lazily on a blanket. That is my definition of a good day. La Belle Amie is one of my absolute favorite places in Myrtle Beach. It is a family-owned vineyard that was begun in the early 1990s and quickly became a local destination of choice. There is a wine shop offering tastings from 10–5 Mon– Sat, and, oh, the muscadine wines are a juicy sip of summer not to be missed. The music events are such a great places to relax with friends and family (definitely bring the kids!). The next ev... More About: Ring , Listening
Take My Heart, I Won?t Need it
2007-11-12 19:40:00 You see the handsome guy in the main pic above? That’s my son and he has cystic fibrosis. One day he’ll likely need someone to donate their lungs to him. I’d like to think there is hope for that happening. Yesterday was the National Donor Sabbath, houses of worship and faith-based communities around the country focused ... Tourists of the Week- Pool Pros
2007-11-08 20:32:00 We were out and about at Broadway at the Beach last night to celebrate my dear friend Amalia’s birthday (who knew our favorite dance place, Revolutions, would be closed on a Wednesday?). We started at the newly opened Buddha Lounge– Asian-influenced cuisine, very decadent decor, and a hookah lounge (which I now know doesn’t mean what ... More About: Tourists , Week , Pool
Myrtle Beach: The Little Engine That Could
2007-11-06 16:59:00 According to the Sun News, Myrtle Beach has about a year’s supply of single-family homes and even more of condos. That being said, the market is still chugging along, and I’m grateful to be a part of it. I haven’t had a chance to write an article for almost two weeks and it’s not because of ...
