This would work quite well instead of the peninsula, I think, and give us the same amount of workspace. apparently it can be bought unfinished and without hardware for $150 less, so we could stain it to match and use the same hardware as the rest of the kitchen; it would look like part of the room, rather than a new piece of furniture. two or three stools would add lots of seating. i think in our kitchen, since we spend so much time in there together and entertaining, it might be more practical to use something like this to eat - so we can talk to other people in the room rather than simply the person right across from us.
