Trick or treating etiquette.
2007-10-22 18:08:00
There are a few simple things that should be followed at Halloween to make it easy and fun for all.1) only go to houses with the porch light on 2) ring the doorbell3) smile and in unison chant "trick or treat" 4) let the homeowner pass out the candy or only take one piece 5) don't forget to say thank you. Remember to have fun and be nice to one another! Going to Sams and buying in bulk will save you money. Have a fun and safe Halloween!

Words I wish I wrote.

Words I Wish I Wrote : A Collection of Writing That Inspired My Ideas by Robert FulghumThis post is inspired by the above mentioned book. How many times have you been lucky enough to read something that was the embodiment of what you were feeling in that moment? Something that seemed to speak to your very soul.I believe we find the things, people, stories, experiences that we need at the exact moment in time that we need them. What we take away from those experiences and how we react to them can define and shape our future. As I get older I realize how much I take for granted. How often I've let someone or something affect my day and my attitude in a negative way. I have learned to pick my battles and I have learned to let go.For solace and inspiration I read the writings of Thoreau, Austen, Lewis, Carroll, Miller, Poe and Lawrence to name a few. They lift me up and help me forget about the problems my clients are having. The bills that need to be paid and the answers I need to find...

Kid Nation: New TV Reality Show Good or Bad?
2007-09-21 06:02:00
Did anyone catch kid nation last night? What did you think of it? I've heard a lot of different opinions on this by kids, parents, grandparents and anyone else you can think of. This seems to bring up some serious opinions. Strong feelings on this subject. Were some of the kids to young? Was this just a way to exploit and make money off of kids? Did those kids learn something of value and will this be something that helps define who they are? Would you have let your child be involved in this? Were the parents lied to? I want to watch a few more episodes before I say anything about how I feel about it, but feel free to state any opinions you may have.

You’ve got so many freckles, there’s no place to paint!
2007-09-09 02:39:00
An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws.“You’ve got so many freckles, there’s no place to paint!” A girl in the line said to the little fella. Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head. His grandmother knelt down next to him. “I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles,” she said, while tracing her finger across the child’s cheek. “Freckles are beautiful!”The boy looked up, “Really?”“Of course,” said the grandmother. “Why, just name me one thing that’s prettier than freckles.”The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma’s face, and softly whispered, “Wrinkles.”

Do you work out of your home?
2007-09-04 21:57:00
There are more people working from hom now than there has been....ever. What does this mean to home builders? It means there's a new niche they can build for. As a realtor I work from home because when I'm not out meeting people it's easier for me to run home and get that fax then run to the office. I think home office's are here to stay and when homes are built that should be taken into consideration. I also prefer my office be on the main floor and not to far from the front door. This way I don't have to take a client through my house and for those who don't/can't use stairs theres no issue.

RINGLING BROTHERS WILL STAND TRIAL FOR ELEPHANT ABUSE
2007-08-31 16:59:00
On August 23, 2007, a federal district court in Washington, D.C., issued a major ruling rejecting the last-ditch attempt of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus to avoid trial over charges that the circus abuses its Asian elephants. The groundbreaking lawsuit, brought by the ASPCA, the Fund for Animals, the Animal Welfare Institute, the Animal Protection Institute and Tom Rider, a former employee of Ringling Bros., alleges that the circus violates the Endangered Species Act by abusively training and disciplining elephants with sharp implements such as bullhooks, by intensively confining and chaining the animals for prolonged periods, and by forcibly separating baby elephants from their mothers. In its ruling, the court scolded the circus for “wast[ing] a considerable amount of time and resources” of the court and the prosecuting groups by engaging in delay tactics over several years. Furthermore, the court reiterated a previous ruling that the circus has repeatedly violated...

Animal trivia about cats and dogs.
2007-08-26 23:57:00
* The penalty for killing a cat, 4,000 years ago in Egypt, was death. * A cat uses its whiskers to determine if a space is too small to squeeze through. The whiskers act as feelers or antennae, helping the animal to judge the precise width of any passage. * A cat's tongue is scratchy because it's lined with papillae-tiny elevated backwards hooks that help to hold prey in place. * Abraham Lincoln loved cats. He had four of them while he lived in the White House. Abraham Lincoln's cat, Tabby, was the first of several White House cats. * Ailurophobia is the fear of cats. Julius Caesar, Henry II, Charles XI, and Napoleon all suffered from this and would nearly faint in the presence of a cat. * Americans spend more than 5.4 billion dollars on their pets each year.* At night a cat can gather into the extra-large corneas and lenses of its eyes more than six times the amount of light than humans can. Seeing far better than humans do at night time and tending to focus best at a distance o...
