2008-01-22 14:28:00 The Daily News Journal reports that Stonecrest Hopsital in Smyrna , TN, will be adding 26 medical-surgical beds on its fourth floor, bringing the total bed count to 101. New Restaurants in Murfreesboro TN
2008-01-04 14:05:00 According to the Daily News Journal, several new restaurants are lining up to expand the dining options available in Murfreesboro TN. The Avenue on Medical Center Parkway will get a new Chili’s in June. It will be located next to LongHorn Steakhouse. There will also be a new Mexican restaurant called Tesoro’s. Expansion of Smyrna TN retail to La Vergne is here
2008-01-04 13:35:00 According to the Daily News Journal, the land adjacent to the Smyrna Super Target site has been puchased for $2.6M by Centrum SSI of Nashville, which intends to build a $20 million shopping center off Interstate 24 on Industrial Boulevard in La Vergne next to the Colonial Town Park shopping center. Greenways expanding in Smyrna, La Vergne and Murfreesboro, TN
2008-01-02 14:21:00 According to today’s Smyrna AM edition of the Daily News Journal, US Representative Bart Gordon has secured funding to expand Rutherford County’s greenway system. As part of the expansion, the greenways in Smyrna will be connected to those in La Vergne. One section will connect the Walter Hill Dam area greenway to Smyrna, and the other will connect La Vergne and Smyrna’s greenways through Long Hunter State Park. The end result will be a greenway running from downtown Nashville to La Vergne, Smyrna, and Murfreesboro . Smyrna’s greenway system presently runs from Percy Priest Lake and branches out toward the Towne Center and toward Old Jefferson Pike. You can find a map of the greenway system on the town of Smyrna’s website. Nearly all of Smyrna’s neighborhoods are locatated nearby the greenway system or a short drive from the greenway system. 2008-01-01 15:04:00 A program sponsored by the City of Murfreesboro to help low income real estate buyers get into the home of their dreams has been improved, according to the Middle Tennessee Association of Real tors newsletter: “The City of Murfreesboro through the Community Development Department offers assistance to first-time homebuyers purchasing inside the city of Murfreesboro. The program is available to households qualified as low-income based on household size as determined by HUD. The Program has a new increased funding level of up to $10,000.00 for principal reduction and/or closing cost. Most lenders are award of the program and the fact that the City’s 0% second mortgage can be used with Conventional, FHA, VA, or THDA loans as approved by the lender. No monthly payments are required on the loans. They are due-on-sale of the property. Where to Recycle Christmas Trees in Smyrna TN
2007-12-29 22:46:00 According to the Daily News Journal, Smyrna residents will be able to recycle Christmas trees at Lee Victory Park until January 14. Lee Victory Park is located on Sam Ridley Parkway in Smyrna, near the airport and golf course. Residents are asked to remove all decorations before recycling their trees. While you’re cleaning out the house, remember that there are Goodwill pick-ups at the county waste facilities off Weakley Lane and Almaville Road. This is a great time of year to get your tax deduction and do a good deed at the same time! New Restaurant and Hotel near Super Target in Smyrna TN
2007-12-06 12:32:00 According to the Daily News Journal, the Smyrna City Council is considering plans for a new restaurant and hotel near the new development on Sam Ridley Parkway and I-24. Restaurant chain Red Robin Gourmet Hamburgers is requesting approval of plans to build near Famous Dave’s restaurant. There is a Red Robin near the Providence Point shopping center in Mount Juliet and another near The Oaks shopping center in Murfreesboro. Both stores do a brisk business. Plans are also in store for a new Residence Inn. Super Target in Smyrna TN slated for Spring 2008
2007-12-01 09:36:00 Although it had been reported earlier this year that the Super Target would be open by Christmas, it’s clear from the construction site and from a recent report in Smyrna AM that the store won’t open until March 2008 . The PetSmart is also slated to open in the Spring , while Kohl’s has been open for several weeks now. Construction and development continues along Sam Ridley Parkway in Smyrna. Verizon’s new office has opened. Several new shopping centers are open and renting space. Traffic is picking up a great bit on Sam Ridley, evidence of the boom in residential development here in Smyrna. 2007-10-14 20:06:00 Well, it’s been a while since we’ve given an update on Smyrna development news, and there have been a lot of changes going on! Kohl’s is open. Super Target and JC Penney will be open by Christmas. We’re still waiting for Staples and PetSmart and Ross Dress for Less to announce their openings. The previously announced dual/dueling movie theaters have decided to combine forces for a single movie theater. There are several new businesses locating in the recently-finished retail spaces along Sam Ridley Parkway. It’s a great time to live in Smyrna TN! More About: Development , Update

Sales numbers for January 2007 were the second-highest number of closings ever for the month of January. The GNAR provided the following comparison of sales by category for January: Closings Residential Condominium Multi-family Farms/Land/Lots January 2006 2,371 1,908 253 33 177 January 2007 2,289 1,779 287 40 183 From the GNAR press release: There were 2,791 sales pending at the end of January, compared with 2,972 sales that were pending at the same time last year. The median residential price during January was $172,900 and for a condominium it was $150,000. That compares with median residential and condominium prices at this time last year of $162,000 and $150,715 respectively. Smyrna TN Real Estate: building permits huge for December 2006
2007-02-05 15:44:00 According to the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal’s chamber of commerce insert for January, the town of Smyrna issued $6.8M in residential building permits and $13M in non-residential building permits for December 2006 . Real estate building permits also were high in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Murfreesboro issued $10.8M in residential permits and $2.6M in nonresidential. In Rutherford County’s unincorporated areas, $9.7M in residential and $457,331 in nonresidential permits were issued. Growth continues in Rutherford County. Two Movie Theaters Coming to Smyrna

2006-12-19 02:06:00 According to the December 18, 2006, Daily News Journal, the housing market in Rutherford County, Tennessee, continues to grow despite a general slowdown nationwide. The article noted that, “Home buyers this year have closed on 5,883 through November at an average price of $172,240, and about 44 percent of them were new houses, according to Real Tracs Multiple Listing Service. The total is 17 more than reported for the same period in 2005 at an average price of $160,900.
