Ten Decadent Dishes
2007-01-04 16:24:03 New York Magazine’s food critic Adam Platt has put together a list of the ten most decadent food dishes available at some of New York’s finest eateries, and they have our mouths watering. Some of our favorites? Chicken Kiev With Foie Gras Sauce at Picholine: The lavish sauce is released when the waiter pricks this noble dish with a silver sword. The Chocolate Dessert Tasting at Del Posto: Black chocolate presented in its unadulterated state, like uncut cocaine, and washed down with designer rums. Iranian Special Reserve Caviar With Buckwheat Blini at The Russian Tea Room: A decadence classic ($300 for 30 grams), served amid the buffed- gold samovars, in the grand room, on the back of a silver sturgeon. If you have had the pleasure of trying any of these dishes, be sure to leave us a note. We would love to hear if they are as… rich… as they sound. Ritz Carlton Palm Beach Set To Reopen
2006-12-30 16:20:04 The Ritz Carl ton Palm Beach at Manalapan closed their doors six months ago to get a face-lift. The renovation cost the illustrious hotel $45 million, and took more than two months longer than originally expected. But the results are spectacular, including a new 3000 square foot ocean terrace, which was accomplished by taking off the back half of the building and opening it up for ocean front access. The hotel has made a number of other changes to make this resort one of the best in the area. The Palm Beach Post reports: In addition to your bed being turned down at night, the hotel also will be “turned down” in the evening. That means come sundown, comfy pillows and throws will appear in the lobby, and fires will be lit. The Ritz is also working to develop a faint custom scent that Poorman promises will be almost undetectable but “very natural.” In keeping with the “beachier” theme at the resort, The Ritz has done away with formal dining. WALL STREET BONUSES LEAD TO MARKET BONUSES
2006-12-13 16:02:03 During any good year, Wall Street bonuses boost the New York real estate market for months at a time. With this year’s bonus topping $36 billion (up from 2005’s record bonus of $21.5 million), this year has already led to a boost in the super-luxury market of New York. The ball got rolling on Thanksgiving weekend, when real estate brokers reported a higher-than-usual volume weekend. As Lore Croghan of the NY Daily News reported: Broker Louise Philips Forbes decided to offer something special - and pricey - at 595 West End Ave., a pre-war apartment house that’s being converted into condos. Instead of sharing a floor with other occupants, buyers could have a whole one to themselves - to build out the way they want. It would add $1 million on top of the purchase price. She didn’t advertise the three super-size spaces in the 15-story building at W. 89th St. She just called some other brokers to ask if their clients would be interested. It took only a we... GM BUILDING THOUGHT TO BE WORTH $3BILLION
2006-12-13 16:02:03 When Harry Macklowe purchased the GM building in September of 2003 for $1.4 billion, people thought he was downright out of his mind. It looks like Macklowe is having the last laugh. When 666 Fifth Avenue went last week for $1.8 billion, ($1200/sq/ft), people have realized that the gamble on the GM building wasn’t much of a gamble at all. New York’s booming market (who said the bubble was busting?) has led to another whopping price. The 50-story GM building, located in Midtown Manhattan, was built in 1968. Experts say that the building would now be appraised for close to $3 billion. More (NYSun) More About: Building , Lion , Thought , Worth , Build
