VendAsta Drops a Little Hint: Social Network Leverage
2008-01-23 03:52:00 From the moment seven executives left Point2 Agent, speculation has been rife about what they may be up to. We know they have started a company called VendAsta, based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada. Today Brendan King and Jeff Tomlin posted a video that dropped the biggest hint to date: Vendasta is a consulting company … what we intend to do is help real estate professionals leverage existing social networks to connect with their customers and consumers, further upstream, long before they are even ready to buy a home. Hmmm… they aren’t coming up with a new social network (thank goodness), rather they are doing something to leverage existing social networks. Social networks abound. The bottom line truth is, not many people (any people?) really know how to leverage social networks in the real estate space. In another bit of Vendasta news, it looks like Guy Kelsey is about to become the EVP of Product Development at VendAsta. Guy comes out of th... More About: Network , Social Network , Leverage
Tag, I’m It… Meme’d Again
2008-01-22 23:49:00 Damn these “meme’s” that float around the Blogiverse! You probably know how they work… someone with too much time on their hands thinks up some question (typically personal) and starts a post, “tagging” others to do the same, and it flies across the Internet. Before you know it, you’ve found out more about some people than you probably want to know… Heather Barr at the North Phoenix Agent Blog tagged me. Here are the rules for this one: (1) list 7 things about yourself, (2) tag 7 people to do the meme on themselves including a link to their site. Without further ado — 7 Things About Me: 1) I had my tonsils removed when I was 38 years old. I thought I was going to die. I lost 27 pounds in a month (and yes, it all went right back on. See #3). 2) I didn’t graduate from college until I was 38. (38 was an interesting year.) 3) When I got married I had a 28 inch waist. I now have a 40 inch waist. Francy mak...
Fed Rate Cut: 75 Basis Point Cut to Overnight and Discount Rate. Historical
2008-01-22 17:39:00 From MarketWatch: WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Hoping to halt a market meltdown and prevent a recession, the Federal Reserve lowered its overnight lending rate by three quarters of a percentage point to 3.50% on Tuesday in a rare move between formal meetings. The 75 basis-point surprise cut came after global financial markets sold off in dramatic fashion on Monday on fears that bad bets in credit markets could spread further and drive the U.S. economy into recession. “The committee took this action in view of a weakening economic outlook and increasing downside risks to growth,” the Federal Open Market Committee said in a statement. (See Federal Reserve press release for full statement) The Fed also lowered its discount rate by 75 basis points to 4%. Here is a chart showing the historical trend of the Federal Fund Rate from 1957 to today. If you are interested in federal fund rate volatility and it’s effect on the economy, the... 14 Year Old Takes Bat to Would Be Burglar
2008-01-17 16:51:00 14–year-old Michael Six of Mesa, Arizona foiled a would-be burglar in his Mesa home by whacking him twice with a baseball bat. The ninth-grader heard his home being broken into, locked himself in his room and called 911. When the burglar broke into his room and confronted him, Michael grabbed a baseball bat and smacked the low life in the lower back and shoulder. The big guy bailed out into the waiting arms of the Mesa Police department. Police believe Thomas Gonzales Garza, 30, may be connected to other burglaries in the area. He is being held without bond on charges of suspicion of residential burglary, aggravated assault on a minor, criminal trespassing and criminal damage. Nice work Michael!! How Not to Sell Your Phoenix Home
2008-01-14 22:26:00 The MLS (Multiple Listing Service) is likely the first place the vast majority of agents and buyers go to look for homes for sale. As such, it’s important that the agent put good, compelling copy into the MLS that describes the home. I use the term “copy” lightly as our MLS only affords about 3 ...
