SOMETIMES IN REAL ESTATE YOU JUST HAVE TO GO TO WORK!
2007-09-19 01:16:00 “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work” – Thomas Edison I believe that the current ‘down’ real estate market that we are experiencing offers some wonderful opportunities to us as real estate agents, and although it might take a fair amount of work, the rewards can be ... WHY AREN?T THEY READY TO BUY NOW?
2007-09-17 00:55:00 Boy…don’t you wish that you could push a button and program your prospects to buy now? I sure do because the market here in Naples, Florida seems stuck in those summer doldrums, even though I was talking with a friend this afternoon in New England and he told me it was 51 degrees there. (One tends to ... More About: Ready
WHEN LIGHTNING STRIKES?
2007-08-30 16:46:00 Living in Southwest Florida comes with certain inherent problems, one of which is power outages. They can be caused by a number of different scenarios, storms, hurricanes and frequently just the electrically charged lightning strikes that are often around, despite a lack of a storm. It is always prudent to have an alternative means of power ... More About: Lightning , Home Repair
COULD WE BE HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION?
2007-08-28 14:20:00 Yesterday’s real estate news for Florida seemed a bit more positive, certainly a sign that the market has stabilized and we should be seeing more positive signs of a recovery as we push ahead. It all centers on the favorable economic conditions, low mortgage rates and the job growth market in Florida as well. Existing single ... More About: Dire , Direction , Rect
AND SO IT WAS?AND NOW IT IS!
2007-08-28 02:21:00 Naples, Florida has a wonderful and rich history. Prior to its discovery, the only people to traipse the white sand beaches were the Caloosa Indians. It was basically discovered and first settled in the 1860s by Roger Gordon and Joseph Wiggins, (two passes that open from the Bay to the Gulf remain named after them.) Later ...
OH FOR BLOGS SAKE!
2007-08-17 02:49:00 I enjoy blogging, but you know sometimes you just get ‘writer’s block’ and can’t think of anything that you want to write about. I certainly laud the people who write every day and it flows like water. I envy the fact that they seem to come up with something interesting or entertaining, whether it be ... More About: Blogs
SHORT SALE MANIA?IS IT FOR YOU?
2007-08-14 01:27:00 Having just completed another short sale and being called today on yet another to list, I find myself in a quandary as to whether I really want to start doing more and more of them. It isn’t that they are particularly hard to get done, it is more a question for me of whether I ... More About: Sale , Short , Mania
THE FORECLOSURE MARKET?THE NEW PERFECT STORM
2007-08-01 02:24:00 Foreclosures are in the forefront of the news and are taking their toll on the regular homeowner market as well as affecting complete neighborhoods. Properties that are not short-selling and go out to foreclosure will most certainly affect property values in the neighborhood where that foreclosure took place. Naturally the more foreclosed properties in a ... More About: Market , Storm , Foreclosure , Perfect , Perfect Storm

AND HE CAME OH SO CLOSE?!?!
2007-07-22 04:35:00 I’ve always had this great fantasy of going to Vegas to play in the World Series of Poker, and not only playing but winning the grand prize of $8.25 million. Yeah…right fat chance! (And people think that we realtors are over paid!) But when you think about it, this year’s winner, Jerry Yang, (the same name ... More About: Close
SPEND A LITTLE TIME EDUCATING YOUR FOREIGN BUYER
2007-07-21 17:16:00 Sometimes we, as realtors, tend to forget about the cultural differences between us and the Europeans. For that matter we can forget the differences between us and the rest of the world many times as well. From a financial standpoint, it can cost us dearly if we don’t pay attention. Case in point…I recently worked some potential ... More About: Time , Buyer , Foreign , Ducati , Fore
NAPLES MARKET SNAPSHOT
2007-07-21 02:49:00 The Naples , Florida market remains firmly in the hands of the grasp of the ‘summer doldrums’, with sales taking place, but mostly in the upper end ($3,000,000 +) of single family homes and condos. Inventory levels remain extremely high, and that inventory needs to be re significantly reduced so that we can get toward a ... More About: Market

THE MARKET?SHORT SALES NOW IN VOGUE
2007-07-19 03:29:00 How quickly the market can turn! How many BMWs can they give away and how much ... More About: Market , Vogue , Sales , Short , The Mark

IF YOU?RE INTO NATURE? YOU?RE INTO PELICAN BAY!
2007-07-17 03:14:00 While viewing property in Pelican Bay the other afternoon, the clients expressed a wish to take the tram (originally coined by the Scots for coal truck) out to the beach. NEVER JUDGE A BOOK (HOUSE) BY ITS COVER!!!
2007-07-16 03:08:00 This afternoon, I had the pleasure of showing a wonderful home in Pelican Bay to clients who specifically flew in from Marblehead, Massachusetts, (and just for the day I might add,) to see it. SITTING MY OPEN HOUSES NO LONGER BORED!
2007-07-14 21:53:00 Thank goodness for my Sprint AirCard! I’m not quite sure what I did prior purchasing it. It’s kind of like what did I do prior to the availability of the ATM for cash to get me through the weenends. I’m sure that I cashed a check on Friday so that I had enough money to get me by, ... THE TOILET FROM HELL?
2007-07-13 03:19:00 I consider myself extremely handy, when it comes to fixing things around the house, and since we own a rental income property, as well as our primary here in Naples, Florida, I guess that I had better be handy. There is always something that is need of repair between the homes, plus I have done a ... More About: Toilet , Home Repair , Hell
HOME INSPECTION?FACT OR FICTION???
2007-07-12 03:27:00 There are an abundance of misconceptions about Home Inspect ions, the process and the reports that are created from them. I’m of the opinion that no matter what the property, condo or single family home, a home inspection is always a smart thing to do. Some people seem concerned as to whether it is worth the money and ... More About: Fiction , Fact
RED?WHITE?BOOM!!!
2007-07-10 03:01:00 One of the great joys for me is firing off ‘the canon’, which sits faithfully on my roll-top desk most all year. There are really only two times a year that I can do it successfully, (without getting arrested,) the 4th of July and New Year’s Eve. You have to understand that at 63 years ... AUCTIONS IN ACTION
2007-07-08 23:00:00 In today’s highly competitive ‘down market’, we are seeing more and more ads for auctions, as would be expected. PANAMA CITY?ONE OF THE TOP 5 PLACES TO RETIRE
2007-06-20 02:10:00 I have long liked the country of Panama and currently have been working with a top developer down there regarding real estate projects that he is building. HOMEOWNER’S INSURANCE…DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE?
2007-06-07 02:06:00 When it comes to my homeowners insurance, I think that I’m about as confused as the next person, and to be honest, I can’t really tell you much about the coverage that I have. I do know that I’m not doing the bare bones minimum and have flood insurance, although I wonder whether it is really worth the expense, since we are about a mile from the Gulf of Mexico. In my 15 years here in Naples, Florida and all the storms that I have been through, I have never had any of the houses that I have owned come near a flooding stage. That includes when we lived on Bougainvillea Road, some four blocks from the beach. I guess that since the premiums for flood are relatively low, about $400 to $500, it is worth having. The only other thing that I do know for sure is that the homes that I have are insured for replacement cost and not actual cash value of losses. I recently read an article that had some astounding facts from the people surveyed: 68% think that vehicle such as car... More About: Owner , Meow , Really , Ally , Homeowner
WORKING REAL ESTATE IN PARADISE
2007-06-02 08:34:00 One of the truly great things about living and working in Naples, Florida is the shear beauty that we are constantly surrounded with, coupled with such a pristine atmosphere. I’ve always said that sometimes we tend to take it for granted and forget what a special place Naples really is. As beautiful as New England can be, where I am from, it takes a trip back up north for me to realize that nothing seems to compare. As a realtor working with higher end clients, you get to experience the utter joy of sitting, (when doing ‘Open Houses), in some pretty incredible homes and condominiums, waiting to meet that person or couple who comes in and falls in love with the property and absolutely has to have it. I happen to be in one of those homes as I write this piece now, and it gives me a very satisfied feeling. Not only do I feel privileged, but thankful that I’m able to go to work in such surroundings. Even in the rather flat real estate market that we are currently ... More About: Estate , Real Estate , Paradise , Real , Stat
A DAY AT THE BEACH WITH ROXY
2007-06-01 03:16:00 As a pet owner here in Naples and not having a specific Dog Park where we can go with Roxy , our wonderful swiss cattle dog, I find it interesting that pet owners are now adding walk-to dog park to their new home search parameters. Many savy communities, Naples not being one of them, are taking heed of this emerging ... More About: Beach
60 Minutes Of Misinformation
More articles from this author:2007-05-16 15:27:00 As a realtor, I questioned whether I would write about the 60 minutes segment that aired this past Sunday, but after a lot of spirited debate with colleagues, as well as people outside the real estate industry, I decided that it was prudent to do so. Plus I’m able to put my feelings in writing, ... More About: Form , Minutes , Format , Minute , Utes 1, 2, 3, 4 |
