This eclectic collection of clutter on my desk keeps me sane?
2007-04-24 12:14:00 I used my desk top only as a place to keep my computer monitor?there was little room of anything else. A year or so ago I purchased a flat-screen LCD monitor. I removed the humongous old monitor, exposing a vast prairie of empty desk-top?even after installing the new monitor?acres of clear desk-top were exposed. Wow! Acres & acres of clear desk-top! Before placing the new monitor on the desk, I thoroughly dusted and polished the antique desk. Then I carefully placed the new monitor?just so?in the perfect location on that vast empty space for easy viewing, and very cagily routed the necessary cables so they were nearly invisible. Of course, with all this space, I could now add the necessary accoutrements of comfort?the China, not stoneware mug & coaster (don?t want no coffee-rings on my pretty, clean and polished desk top), my little radio (so I can listen to NPR if so moved), and a lovely old oversized stoneware mug to keep my pens & pencils in easy reach. Harder than I thought
2007-04-24 11:59:00 Moving to MD from VA and attempting to get my business up and running in VA from MD is not as easy as I thought. I never in my wildest dreams suspected it could take 2 hours to get to my office and that's on a good day. UGH. This will require dedication!! I've moved to this really layback town in MD and it's so nice here. I can hear the birds sing in the morning, I can see the stars at night and the sunrises are spectacular. Selfishly, I'd like to keep our new location a secret but only being 20 miles from DC, I wonder why more people don't get on-board. It's fabulous. I will be taking my MD exam soon. I will be happy to be working where I live. When I sell my first home, I'll let you know. And, then more will follow or at least that's my plan. Things are hoping in my VA office. 2007-04-24 10:42:00 I must admit, I haven't blogged as consistently as I should lately. It was easy during February and March when we were getting ice storms every-other week and buyers just weren't getting out to see homes. I wasn't getting the showing calls on my listings and I had all the time in the world to get caught up on the important things like blogging. Now that Spring has kicked into full swing and I have more business than I can handle, I find it not only hard to make the time to blog, but it's become difficult to find the inspiration. I think my mind is so frazzled by the end of a challenging detail-filled day, it's just almost impossible for me to come up with an idea for a blog, much less muster up the energy to actually put it together. So I guess many of my blog ideas get pushed to the back burner where they eventually disappear. I have to do a better job of keeping that from happening. We got "dumped on" last Wednesday with 12 inches of snow during that Spring storm but the sun is shining bright today, just as expected during this holiday. How does Maine stack up? It is interesting to see how much the internet has played a roll in buying or selling real estate since 1997. Nationwide only 2% of buyers used the internet to find the home they purchased. On another note, in 2006, Maine has fared better with 35%, than the national average, with only 24% in where the buyer found their next home using the internet... and referrals from a friend or neighbor favor with Maine at 11%, and nationwide at 8%... while the Maine real estate yard sign falls behind the national average with 11% and 15%. As the chart shows, Maine as a whole, is up, while the national median average is down 1.5 percent. Read on...SOUTH PORTLAND (March 26, 2007) - Single-family home prices are on the rise in Maine. According to the Maine Real Estate Information System, Inc., sales prices of existing homes were up 4.84 percent during the month of February when compared to one year ago. The statewide median existing home sales price reached $193,950 for the month, up from February 2006's price of $185,000. The median sales price indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less. A total of 698 homes changed hands during the month, down a slight 1.13 percent. Nationally, sales of single-family, existing homes decreased 3.4 percent from last February.
