2008-01-05 20:48:00 I got an email about a month from Rick and Judy. Very unhappy with their agent, very unhappy with their photos. Not enjoying the selling process at all. We arranged to have me come down and shoot the house. 99% of the time sellers are amazingly helpful during photo shoots, they will do anything to make the photos the best they can. Rick and Judy were the prototype of the helpful seller. In fact slightly too generous in plying me with food and drink as a soda can had to be edited out of one of the photos, and somewhere in the living room is a plate of cookies that was thrust upon me. Great great people, I had a lot of fun with them as we worked through the house together. They had a lot of problems with being overpriced, though having worked down to $469,000 it seemed pretty much in the ball park. The photos just didn’t capture the house at all. I can fix that. 2008-01-01 01:22:00 It seems like every shoot is on a terrible deadline and battling the weather forecast. I get called yesterday to shoot this home. I try and contact the home owners and get voice mail, leave a message and never get called back. I follow up this morning and finally get in contact. Uh-oh, home owner doesn’t want the shoot until Wednesday… home schooling, holiday, dogs, boxes everywhere. Listing agent needs a photo up within 24 hours or MLS fines. And welcome to New England, but we’ve got a week of garbage weather coming. Today, as in right now, is the day if we want a front shot. I say “I’ll be right over” to do the front, and we’ll do interiors on Wednesday. I arrive and the home owner is G-O-N-E. But somehow three vehicles and a trailer parked on the road remain. Ugh. 2007-12-31 01:36:00 I’m driving and my cell for some reason is in my bag, I can’t get to it fast enough to illegally drive and talk for four seconds before before I pull over. It goes to voicemail. So I listen to the message. It’s from an Ethan Nobles at the Arkansas Board of Realtors, informing me that he has just sent me an email that is pretty straight forward on what they want, and he is ensuring I got the email and would like a return call. Well obviously I’m in a fluffy-bunnies-storm of trouble. Undoubtedly some Arkansas Realtor has cried foul about me running a Bad MLS Photo and here comes the smackdown. Well I’m ready, you hear me, I’m ready. What I do is Fair Use of of copyrighted material for the purposes of criticism and parody. Besides I could just link to the listings on Realtor.com or whatever and identify the agent. These photos are on thousands of public websites and essentially enter the public domain.
