Never-ending Earth Day
2007-04-22 23:18:00
Earth Day sounds like such a wonderful concept but let's be realistic. Setting aside one day a year to honor and talk about her is kind of a pathetic effort considering how important this planet is to our very physical existence. We should be doing things every day to help heal Mother Earth from the hundreds of years of rape and uncaring abuse the human race has subjected her to. Instead, we go to Washington, D.C. once a year and have speeches, workshops, or whatever in order to get the word to the government. What a total waste of time that is! Those who are running this country care absolutely nothing about ecology. The only way they would ever be interested in the health of this planet would be if, by doing so, they could pad their fat bank accounts and usurp even more power. So, it is up to each of us individually to do what we can to help Mother Earth. We can start by saying a prayer of healing for her each day. We can quit abusing her and doing things that pollute her resources...

A Little Gift
2007-04-19 00:27:00
Yesterday, I was out in nature connecting with Mother Earth. I have always loved doing this because she is so filled with beauty. All I have to do is take a short walk in a nearby forest or even visit a nicely tended flower garden and I am practically overwhelmed with the wonder of her.Back to yesterday. I gently pressed my bare hands into her soil while telling her how much I appreciate her wonderful support of all the life which lives within her, upon her, and in the air above her.Now Mother knows how much us mountain folks love her snow so last night, even though it's springtime, she deposited a 2 inch blanket of beautiful fluffy white on everything.Thank you Mother. We love you.

Communicating With Nature
2007-04-14 05:59:00
I love interacting with nature, The trees, grass, and flowers of the plant kingdom. The mountains and rocks of the mineral kingdom. The elementals of air, water, earth, and fire. And, of course, the animals. With all of these I am able to enjoy occasional conscious communication, with the exception being the animal kingdom. As you have seen in previous posts I interact with animals but I have very little communication with them.So you may be saying, "Lou, just what do you mean by conscious communication? Surely you don't mean.....!" And the answer is "Yes, I talk to nature and nature talks to me." I learned many many years ago I could do this. Does this sound like a strange thing to you? Conversing with trees and boulders. Hearing words of wisdom from the wind. Really, it isn't that far fetched. All things have consciousness and their own form of intelligence so it's just a matter of patiently learning to connect and listen.Do the beings of the world of nature really have anythin...

Cathedral of The Redwoods
2007-04-05 02:10:00
Deep in the forest...the redwood forest. No one is about. Just me and you to worship God in the most magnificent cathedral imaginable. Surrounded by the tall, huge redwood trees. Trees of antiquity. Hundreds of years old. What great wisdom they possess! It's so quiet here. The Presence of the Spirit of God is so thick our scalps tingle. Suddenly, a shaft of light enters from above and illuminates that very spot in which we stand. We fall to our knees in ecstasy as we feel the warmth of the Divine Love flow over and through us. We offer quiet prayers of thankfulness to our Creator for all beings everywhere.

Robert's Weather Series
2007-04-02 21:34:00
This will be a rather short post but I strongly feel the need to point you in the direction of an ongoing series that Robert Shapiro is teaching regarding the weather and movements of Mother Earth. We are currently within a time of deep change in the weather patterns of our world and although these changes have not reached a critical stage they are definitely becoming more intense. In the next few years this pattern may well become even more critical. The more we can know about various things we can do to help the transitions Mother Earth must make the easier it can be for all beings within her, upon her surface, and above her to tolerate the shift that is occurring.I urge readers to study Robert's helpful posts on "Gently Influencing The Weather ." You'll find them on his blog, A Mystical Man's World.Blessings to you all.

Spring Has Re-sprung!
2007-03-31 01:08:00
A couple of weeks back I wrote a post titled "Has Spring Already Sprung?" Near the end I pointed out that although it looked like Spring had arrived the cold wind blowing off of the snow covered mountains might be indicating otherwise. Sure enough, since that post we have had a couple of fair sized snow storms come through and the temperature has been in the teens again.Ah, but now the snow clouds have been gone for a couple of days. The sky is blue and a bit of warmth has returned to the air. I just took a walk around the immediate area where I live. It's warm enough that I didn't even have to wear a jacket. Upper 50s. The trees and shrubs are budding...even the small dogwood out behind the hot tub. As I passed some of the flower beds I noticed a couple of jonquils blooming and the sweet williams already have a leaf here and there. Most of the snow has melted away again. With Easter just a little more than a week away it's just possible that Spring has really and truly begun its ...
Befriended By An Ant
2007-03-24 23:41:00
Here's a kind of funny thing that happened to me a few years back. I was working a part time job on weekends as a front desk clerk at one of the zillions of timeshares we have around here. This was a rather small complex and Sundays were usually very quiet. During good weather I would often sit outside on the deck and enjoy nature and the view I had of a valley several thousand feet below. On one of those Sundays I happened to notice a rather large ant scurrying across the other side of the deck from where I was sitting. I said, "Hello brother ant. Beautiful day." And the ant stopped, then turned toward me. It sat still for a few moments, then moved a little closer. I said, "Fear not little one. I am not one of those who would squash you." The ant retraced its steps and then continued in the direction it had been heading. My eyes were better in those days and I watched it as it moved from the edge of the deck and onto a low retaining wall. It came to a crack in the wall and stopped...
Grounding
2007-03-19 23:16:00
Have you grounded your body lately? Over a period of time our bodies can become loaded with negative energies. This is especially so for those who live and/or work in cities. And, of course, some neighborhoods and lines of work are worse than others. Being filled with these negative energies can be a hazard to your health. Oh sure, there are probably pills for the symptoms but here is a natural and more fun way that can help ease the stress.Find a place nearby that has some grass or weeds growing. A local park is perfect. Preferably it would be a location close enough to where you live so you can walk to it and back. Wear loose clothing...nothing binding. In order to successfully ground yourself you need to be in direct contact with Mother Earth so when you're ready, remove your shoes and socks. Take off your hat, cap, or any other head covering. Step out onto the grass or dirt with your bare feet. Wiggle your toes in the grass or dirt. Walk around a bit. Enjoy your connection to Ea...

Has Spring Already Sprung?
2007-03-14 23:36:00
Such a beautiful day today. Lots of blue sky. It may be a bit early to declare the arrival of Spring but with a temperature of 60 degrees at the 6,500 foot level it sure seems like it has already started. We took advantage of the near perfect weather by going over to the west side of the lake. Not much traffic over there today which was surprising. We stopped at a parking spot past Taylor Creek and walked back to the foot bridge. The water is already running high from snowmelt. Fresh, cold, and clear. Most of the snow is already gone from the immediate area except along the sides of the road where the plows have left berms. We went on around to Cascade Creek. It is a smaller stream but a bit wilder. We stood on its bank for a long while listening to its music as it tumbled over and around rocks and boulders as it made its way to the lake. We finally realized we were turning numb from the cold wind that was ruffling our hair so back to the car we went. It may have looked like Spring ha...

Another Deer Encounter
2007-03-13 05:08:00
Several years back on one of my visits to the Muir Woods I decided to take one of the many hiking trails in the Mt. Tam area. Once I got a short distance from the Muir Woods I was alone in the forest. The silence was only broken occasionally by the wind sighing through the tree tops and the songs of various birds. I stopped often to just breathe in the fragrance of the forest.I had gone a fairly good distance when I suddenly entered a small, deserted picnic area. It was unusually warm for this time of year so when I noticed there was a water faucet nearby I went over and wet a handkerchief and wiped my face and neck with the cold water. The thought of taking a short rest was appealing and I walked over and sat down on the bench of one of the picnic tables. I closed my eyes but within a minute or so I felt a presence nearby. Then I heard a "sniff...sniff" very close to me. I opened my eyes and there standing right in front of me was a beautiful deer. A doe. Now that was some surprise....

The Deer Strikes A Pose
2007-03-08 04:51:00
Several years back we were driving along Highway 89 in northern California. It was a beautiful early spring day with a clear, cloudless blue sky and only a slight breeze was moving through the trees that lined both sides of the road. Traffic was unusually light for this particular stretch of highway. As we rounded a slight curve my wife's sharp eyes spotted an animal up ahead on the left just at the tree line. I slowed down and as we got closer we were thrilled to see it was a beautiful buck deer. As I slowed even more the buck looked up and directly at us. There were no cars in sight either direction so when I got directly opposite from him I braked the car to a complete stop. I figured he would bolt and run into the woods at any moment but instead he turned more toward us and stared. My wife handed me the camera, hoping I could get a quick picture before he moved out of sight. With still no traffic in sight I slowly rolled down the window and st...

Look What God Has Done
2007-03-01 04:45:00
Looking up at the night time sky always fills me with a great sense of awe. Such a vast number of twinkling stars and to think that there are billions more that the eye can't even see. It boggles my mind. Well, since my mind is already boggled I guess it double-boggles it.Then, just a quick peek at some of the daytime goodies almost sends my mind into boggle-overload. Take a look at those mountains with snow banners blowing from their peaks. WOW! And the tall, straight evergreen forests reflected in the pristine water of an alpine lake. Double WOW! I still don't know how the fish can stand that cold, cold water fresh from the snowmelt. Brrrrr. And of course the resident wildlife. The beautiful deer. Birds. The busy squirrels and the curious little chipmunks. All set off by a deep blue sky with white fluffy clouds floating around. Then out of the lake flows a crystal clear stream tumbling over and around the boulders, rocks, and pebbles on its way down to the sea. I love to sit by t...

Winter Wonderland
2007-02-27 21:33:00
As far as the eye could see the pine and fir trees stood, their limbs and needles covered by a thick blanket of the purest white, their dark trunks in stark contrast against the brightness of the snow. In spots the wind had drifted the snow on the ground into other-worldly shapes. And to complete this live picture post card there were breaks in the clouds revealing a sky of incredible blue. All was still as I stood there spellbound, gazing on this awesome display of nature's beauty. Then large snowflakes began floating down like big feathers. Suddenly the faintest hint of a breeze set them to dancing and swirling as if they were performing a cosmic ballet to the symphony of the heavens. They spun, zig-zaged, and did loops. I thought at one time I heard one of them shout "Whee!" as it came close to the window and performed a piroet before sailing away on its way to the ground. Thank you God for all of Your creation and for...
