Lion vs. Lamb?
2007-03-04 02:27:00
A few days ago I was reading about about Elijah and Elisha in 1st and 2nd Kings, and something hit me. I asked my Bible teacher about it the next morning: Why was God so harsh to His people? My teacher looked at me and said: Was? or Is?As I got to thinking about it, Is seems the best of those terms, seeing as God never changes. But why was He so harsh on his people? I saw at least 3 times where Ahab, the king of Northern Israel, was condemned by God. The priests of Baal were struck dead immediately after Elijah proved God's existence at the end of the drought. I'm thinking: Hold on, isn't God loving? But wait a minute, God's people were disobeying His law. They fell short of Him. When reading the Old Testamen, you have to remember that they didn't have Jesus. It was up to the people to either be perfect (which we all know no one except Jesus is) or give God a blood sacrifice. And don't think God was only harsh in the Old Testament. Even after Jesus, there was still the od...

On the shelf next to my bed you'll find a number of things: a Bible, a book, a box of tissues, a journal, a pencil, and the remote to my stereo. There is also a well-worn scrap of paper, rippled from getting wet several times, and the few marks on it have been blotted by tears. It's a well-used little piece of paper, and it's helped us through many storms. My mother gave it to me when I was going through a particularly rough time in my life, and now I'm passing it onto you with this blessing:No matter how big the storm, no matter how dark the night, these things are always true, and they will never change as long as there is God, and He always has been and always will be. May these 40 statements help you as much as they have helped my mother and I.I AM...1. A child of God (Romans 8:16)2. Redeemed from the hand of the Enemy (Psalm 107:2)3. Forgiven (Colossians 1:13, 14)4. Saved by Grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8)5. Justified (Romans 5:1)6. Sanctified (I Corinthians 6:11)7. A N...
What makes a Christian?
2006-11-11 02:32:00
What makes a Chris t ian these days? 90 percent of Americans, if asked, will say that they are Christians. Then you look at how many people attend churches consistently (every sunday and /or wednesday) , how many nurseries there are in high schools, and how many clubs and cults there are. Yeah. Most people seem to think that if you attend church maybe once or twice a year makes you a Christian. The definition of Christian is someone who is Christ-like. Would an immintator of Christ only associate himself with Jesus at church, and deny Him all other times? Let me give a few examples. What if a Christian's mouth is just as foul as a non-Christian's? I know speakers (I won't mention any names, but I've read a great teen devotional by one of them) that say the word "hell" in the wrong way, and use the non-abreviated version of P.O.ed. One of my favorite bands, Brave Saint Saturn, who is definitely Christian, is CENSORED. Their CD has bleeped-out words. Apparently some people think that ...

Horsey Tears - New Pics

Well the boys are doing a lot better, as you'll see from these pics...thanks you to everyone who was praying for them...it means a lot.As you can see, Trigger has gained a LOT of weight back...so much so that we've had to decrease his feed...lol oh well better a little overweight like he is now than as underweight as he was a couple months ago... wow he's such a fuzzball. he has like the thickest winter coat on the farm. And this is Storm...also turning into a fuzzball. lol he looks tired in this picture. We still as yet do not have custody of the horses but we are hoping the owner won't prove too stubborn. Though we are prepared to go to court if need be. Thanks once again for your prayers. God Bless,BBI

Gossip. It's all around us. And if you're like me, it DRIVES YOU CRAZY!I've had plenty of rumours spread about me and my friends, but then I've heard plenty of rumours about the people spreading the rumours about me and my friends. What I'm asking is, what's the point?Okay, so people get curious. So they come up to you and ask about your friend. They don't go to your friend, they go to YOU. Why is that? Why, if people want to know something, do they not ASK THE PERSON THEY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT?It'll offend the person? hm...okay...so since you're afraid of offending a person you ask their friend...and making (or tempting) their friends talk about them behind their backs isn't offensive at all...yeah that makes tons of sense.I guess the point I'm trying to make is that gossiping is NOT cool, nor is it Godly. We shouldn't gossip about people if we're Christians! Jesus said it was bad, Paul (led by the Holy Spirit) said it was bad...What more do you need people?

Horsey Tears - Gone For Now 2
2006-08-06 19:37:00
Hey well here's the pictures I promised of the two Tennessee Walking Horse s we rescued. I have Before and After pics:This is what Trigger looked like when we found the horses in July. This is what Storm looked like when we found them. There are two reasons he looks fatter: 1) his color hides the skinniness and 2) he's the lead horse so he gets the lion's share of the food and/or water when it's available. We've had the horses for almost a month now. Here's what they looked like last time i saw them:Trigger, after 3 weeks, has a little more fat on him, his feet are a lot better, and the rainrot (which is what was making his hair fall out) is gone. You can hardly see Storm's ribs now, and his feet are doing much better as well. We also wiped out the small bit of rainrot he had.Thank you all so much for your prayers, and I thank God that they were able to come back into good hands. But they still aren't in our custody, and are still owned by the man who messed them up so much. We...

Horsey Tears - Gone For Now
2006-07-03 19:00:00
Well if you've been following the true story of the two Tennessee Walking Horse s so far, you'll be pleased to know that they are both back on my aunt's property. After calling numerous people yesterday, we finally got in touch with the owner, and told him what we thought. He was in denial, saying he had bought hay (we'd seen it yesterday) and he'd thought that the horses were wormy, so had given them "worm pills". 1) hay only helps the horses if you give it to them, and 2) there's no such things as "worm pills" for horses. So we got his permission to take them back to the farm. We're going to get in touch with the local equine inspector, and hope she can give us custody of the horses. The owner's wife and son (he was eight and knew something was wrong with the horses!)said it was alright if we took the horses, because they don't want animal cruelty charges against them. It's the owner that doesn't want to give them up. To him, they're just a status symbol. I like Bar's c...

Horsey Tears - Sobbing and Telephone Calling
2006-07-02 19:52:00
Note: As I'm writing this post, I'm not exaggerating a thing. I'll get the pictures up as soon as possible if you need to see them.My aunt and I went to go see Trigger and Storm today. The house that the owner had promised to be moved into by last Thanksgiving is still incomplete, and completely empty. He's keeping hay in it. When we saw the hay, our spirits rose because we thought "Oh ok he has hay that he's feeding them." But then we saw the horses.I want to kill the man. I really do. The horses were quite literally skin and bones. You ever watched Animal Cops on Animal Planet? Have you seen what those horses looked like? That's what Trigger and Storm looked like. They were skeletal. Trigger is losing large patches of hair. Storm chews slowly, as if his mouth is hurting. Neither of them has had anyone look at their feet in ages. I, of course, burst into tears. They had no water. At all. Zip. And there was no source of water on the property. No hoses, nothing. The horses were...

The Dark Side
2006-06-14 18:33:00
Ok, if you've ever seen me in person you can skip this paragraph. I'm writing this one to show people why I'm writing. Anyways, if you know me, you know that I wear a lot of black. All black, in fact. From my eyeliner down to my converse shoes. I don't like to use labels, but most people who do would place me under "gothic".I've had too many people ask me how I can be gothic and Christian at the same time. What puzzles even more people is that I went "Goth" AFTER I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. This post will help answer this, and I hope that you'll look without judgement on those of us who dress in darkness. The first question: How can I be Goth and Christian at the same time? Well, I am, aren't I? Jesus wants us how we are, we don't all have to dress in pastel colors to be a good Christian. Where does it say in the Bible that Christians can't wear all black? This goes for music, too, to those of you who think that only hymnals are holy. They didn't have hymnals a...

Blessings
2006-04-22 16:41:00
Few people in this world realize how blessed they really are. If you're reading this post right now, you're extremely blessed already, to have a computer nearby that you can use. But then, it may be our blessings that are messing us up.Messing us up? How can blessings mess us up?Well, let's look at Jonah. He was a prophet back in his day, which was probably one of the best jobs you could have gotten. He got the special assignment to carry God's Word out to those in need of it, and to help others keep up their faith. Not a bad job. Then it happens. God gives Jonah the assignment to go to Nineveh, to preach to the Assyrians that live there. Now, keep in mind, these aren't the nicest people in the world. In fact, Jonah's people were their enemies. God wanted to give the Ninevites a chance to repent before He destroyed them. So you may not be surprised that Jonah ran. That's right. Jonah ran from the assignment that God gave him. Being an Israelite, he wanted things his way, as do...

Why do I live here?
2006-03-01 01:49:00
Sometimes I wonder why God put us here. People are so stupid sometimes. I mean, how long does it take for us to get back INTO a war after we pledged peace? Not long. Humans can't go very long without jumping down each others' throats and starting an international battle! People are weird. So we don't agree on one thing, BOOM there's a war.So we don't agree on religion, BOOM and another war.So we don't agree on Christianity BOOM, another war, and thousands massacred in cold blood! (which happens in all wars)I mean, you'd think when Christians started fighting one another, people would realize there's a problem, right? Not so in our world. Satan's got us blinded so that we can't see the truth! But you know what? He has no power! He's just trying to make us think he does. Have you ever read the book of Job in the Bible? Remeber what God said when Satan said he wanted to test Job? God said, "Okay, but you can only go THIS far." God's got Satan on a leash. So humans aren't perf...

Socialism, Darwinism, and Christianity
2006-02-18 00:45:00
Socialism, Darwin ism (aka Evolutionism), and Christian ity are fairly popular beliefs in America today. Well, at least the first two are. We Christians are in the minority. Before I really get started though, I want to explain my usage of the word 'socialism'. I do not use it as an economic term. Nowadyas, it's defined as government ownership of the means of production and distribution of goods for the presumed welfare of society. Does this sound familiar? (Hint: It starts with a C)Socialism is a belief, and a philosophy. It affects all areas of life. Many socialists go for establishing one international government instead of all the independent states we have today. Also, as far as religion goes, socialists believe that there should be no barriers created by religion, and that we should unite all religions and say they're all true and good. I won't go into many details today, but to sume it up, all types of socialism are based on two false ideas: 1) that Man is good by nature, ...

Don't Cry
2006-02-11 03:06:00
Don't cryI'll see you againUp with the starsI'll wait for youDon't cryMy school is having student body elections. One girl who's campainging has little pencils with ribbons tied around them that she hands out. She had some black ribbon with her for making them, so being a dark person, I was intrigued, and asked her for a length. She gave me some, and I tied it to my purse. My history teacher was walking by later, and noticed I had the black ribbon on my purse. He said that that usually meant that someone close to you had recently died. Now I didn't say this, but I though "Well, Jesus dies for me didn't He?"And that just got me thinking the whole day. I got to thinking that if Jesus died for me, then of course He loves me, as He loves us all and died for us all. Wouldn't that mean he wants us to obey Him?So, as I'm running short of time here, try to do as Jesus said, and love other people. I'm not saying go up to your enemy and give them a large bear hug. No. But just try to...
It's not Halloween anymore.
2006-01-11 02:55:00
I've noticed that a lot of people aren't who they seem to be. It's as if most people wear masks, big tough ones, which most hide the true child within. It's sad really, that people are forced to live Hall oween every day of their lives.I know people who act all big and tough, and I start out not liking them, but later I've discovered the truth within. One person was abused, one was seperated from all they knew and loved, and things like that. I used to get a lot of that when my family was a foster family. And boy, do I wish it could have been otherwise.I know of people succumbing to drugs or alchohol or premarital sex and stuff, not because they wanted too, but they were scared of what other people would think if they didn't. It's a cruel world we live in today. And you know what? Most times when I've found masks, the people were afraid of people around them. Many people are afraid to be different from this world that's all about "conformity" It's sad when I see or hear of p...

Battle of the Stupid Labels
2005-12-29 17:55:00
What's wrong with this picture?I got this from starlightmks and I think the author writes an interesting article to go along with it. You can read the full article at starlightmks.com under "reads" Anyways, the author states that she cannot understand why we try to fit ourselves under labels, such as "goth" "punk" or "prep". "Isn't it aggravating how some people will judge you as a person based on whether or not you think Good Charlotte is "punk"? First of all, let's look at the definition of "punk". The dictionary definition most relevant to this would be "A young person, especially a member of a rebellious counterculture group". And that's all there is to it? Most people don't seem to think so. If you ask ten people what "punk" is, you will get ten different answers. Why? Because it's one of the many stupid labels made up by people who think they're really cool and original, so of course, it doesn't have one official meaning. Do you want to associate yourself with somethin...

"'Twas the Friday before Chris t mas And all around townLittle mice were all scurryingUp, down, and around. At least, that's what they looked likeFrom up in the airAs fathers, by the truckloadGained grey hair..."Ha ha. My dad and I made that up yesterday, as we were waiting on a long line of people to get into the Wal-Mart parking lot. It seems every Christmas is more busy and more stressful than the last. But why? Have we forgotten what Christmas is about?I know you're thinking "Oh, great, her we go AGAIN..."Don't think like that. All I'm going to say is that, this year, try to remember that Jesus is the reason for the Seas on . Without the Savior being born, we wouldn't be here today, rushing around to wrap last-minute gifts. Without the missionaries who changed "The birthday of the Sun," into "The birthday of GOD'S SON," for the pagans, what would our world be like?So as you try to wrap, or even pick out, that last present, just remember, that Jesus is the Reason of the Season.Me...

Chronicles of Narnia
2005-12-17 02:37:00
I just went to go see the Chronicle s of Narnia movie, which was mentioned in my very first post *sniffles at memory* and I thought it was a wonderful movie. It definitely earned its PG rating however: I wouldn't recommend taking small children to see it. There isn't all that much blood or anything, but there is much sadness and a bit of scariness. Me and my friends, all highschoolers, all jumped at least once during the movie, and I almost cried, but then that may be just me.For all you Lewis fanatics out there who HAVEN'T seen the movie yet, it stays very close to the book throughout the whole thing. The director captured Lewis's image almost perfectly, though, sadly, there were a few flaws. But then, unless you have read, loved, and re-read the books many times, you may not catch the flaws. Leave a comment and tell me what you thought of it, please.
