Policing And Minorities
2007-11-06 06:46:00 Mahatma Gandhi had said that quality of democracy should be judged from the way minorities are treated. Democracies are participative system of governance but numbers assume great importance in it and when it is multi-religious or multi-cultural society, those in larger numbers tend to dictate to those who are fewer in numbers. It has been ... More About: Society , Terrorism , India , Minorities , Featured
Tehelka, Journalists Lead Indians to Redeem Their values
2007-11-03 23:10:00 Tehelka, the intrepid news magazine did what the Indian government should have done in the past five years. The nation owes a debt of gratitude to the editor of Tehelka, Tarun Tejpal and reporter Ashish Khetan who took enormous risk to procure evidence on video tapes about the planning of the genocide perpetrated by the Gujarat state government in February – March 2002. The tapes also record admissions of suppression of evidence and bribery by the public prosecutors to protect the guilty. The culpable Gujarat state government (still in power), got away with it, because at the time their party (BJP) was also in power at the center in Delhi. In 2004 elections for the central Parliament, the Indian electorate exhibited maturity by defeating the repressive sectarian coalition in favor of a secular coalition dominated by the Congress party. However the Congress has been reticent to bring the Gujarat government to the bar of justice. It is afraid of being falsely tarred by the fascists,... ?Wahhabism? in India
2007-11-03 03:38:00 The term ‘Wahhabi’ is a deeply contested and much debated one. It is derived from the name of the eighteenth century Najdi Hanbali Muhammd ibn Abdul Wahhab, although, interestingly enough, Abdul Wahhab was not his name but that of his father. That itself clearly indicates that the term is rather loosely used and is often ... More About: Islam , India , Featured

Tehelka Expose: The Political Context
2007-10-29 07:18:00 Guest Post by Bhupinder Singh Despite the hoopla surrounding the Tehelka expose of Narendra Modi?s role in the Gujarat pogrom of 2002, it is unlikely to have a negative fallout on Mr Modi?s immediate electoral prospects- indeed it is likely that it will on the contrary provide a surge in favour of Modi, unless there is ... How is Modi different from Thackeray?
2007-10-27 19:31:00 Did Tehelka reveal something really extra-ordinary? And were the reactions different? Absolutely no. The right-wingers were quick to dub the expose a sham because according to them Tarun Tejpal is under the influence of ISI. This conspiracy theory was designed to tarnish the image of the most successful Chief Minister in India at present. Narendra ... More About: Politics , Islam , Gujarat , Fanatics , Modi

Refuge of the Scoundrel
2007-10-27 07:40:00 In the context of the Gujarat Tehelka expose India needs to wake up and take notice. I am not asking about taking notice of the act because that has been known to all for long through works like Rakesh Sharma’s Final Solution. India needs to take notice of the reactions to the expose. It is utterly sad that ... More About: Politics , Fanatics , Featured

2007-10-25 20:28:00 Tehelka did it again, this time exposing lies told by the Hindutva brigade about genocide in Gujarat. Listen from Babu Bajrangi himself caught by Tehelka’s spycam. NARENDRA MODI visited Godhra on the day of the burning of coach S-6 of the Sabarmati Express. His outburst provided the first sign to Sangh workers that the time to ... Socio-Political Exclusion Main Cause Of Partition
2007-10-08 22:11:00 Our country saw the tragedy of partition at the time of independence.
